Torque Converter and 1/4 mile drag times. It improved by HOW MUCH?
Переглядів 55 тис.6 років тому
After installing a torque converter and rear gears, I head to the drag strip to compare my times before and after the build. This is a 2000 Camaro with ported 243 heads, Cam, LS6 Intake and full exhaust. I added a built 4l60e with a 3,000 stall pro torque converter. Watch as I break down each run and compare the numbers.
Cleetus and Cars - Demolition drag racing

Demolition drag racing at the Cleetus N Cars event in Bradenton. I've never seen anything like this at a drag strip, it's pretty insane! I have no affiliation with Cleetus McFarland, however I am a fan of Leroy.

Переглядів 40 тис.6 років тому
I added a built 4l60e and upgraded the rear end on my 2000 Heads/Cam Camaro. In this video I show you some driving habits before and after the build, and give a review of the transmission, torque converter, shift kit and rear gears. The transmission has a 3,000 Pro Torque converter and a shift Kit. The rear end has 3.42 Motive performance gears. 1/4 mile video link: ua-cam.com/video/23EtYMGrDG4...

Today we're taking a look at this 2000 Camaro Z28. Besides its beautiful looks, she's got lots of goodies under the hood that make this car a beast on the streets! I fixed my Transmission and Rear End! Video is here: ua-cam.com/video/XzPffiUFI_0/v-deo.html Watch til the end for some fun, and be sure to follow Tampa Bay Builds for more.
What size stall are you running
Would like to see a discussion on how to maximize reliability.
Hey, do you remember what that colour is called? Sadly I wrote off my 94 Z28 a few weeks back.... looking at a new one, which is black, but it might need painted. My other car is black, so I may look at something different. I'm thinking either the stock quasar blue they came in at the time, or something like this.
Nice job. Why only 380 H.P. ? I would have thought more around 430 or so
Great job explaining!
Plug it in!!! Lol
Nice. I run 12.3 with stock heads in cold weather. Hot weather is 12.5 @413whp. Anyone heard of car falling out of torque converter lock wot in 3rd toward red line? Is that possible?
If nobody has said it yet the reason your windshield is fogging is because you're running the car where is the back door open to outside air put it on recirculate to keep this from happening that way the outside pressure one build up at the cowl area of the windshield and force the humid air into the car
Those are nice ETs and mph. For a street driven car, in my opinion, to increase track performance you will decrease street manners/fun. You are/were at a good point to leave it alone?
No wonder the rear end and trans is going out.wow
this was fckin awesome bro 💫👌🏾
Man i hope u still get these comments and can remember what valve springs you have in this car, because i just bought it but the gentlemen cant find the details on it. Seen all your videos but no mention of what springs. Asking because i plan on a more aggressive camshaft.
A Bracket racer Pulling best times said 10 inch wide tires was ultimate size
If I can ask, would getting a bigger torque converter make a big cam more suited for a daily driver? I ask because the chop of a BTR Stage 3 paired with an LS1, is just such a heavenly sound.
What about ls swap I’m doing one for my 02 firebird with the 3800 and I want to put an ls in it
Just a question why didn't you do the bottom end while you was actually rebuilding your engine. The only other thing was the freeze plugs.I would hate to be pulling the engine back out over a dollar freeze plug bro.
Normally I much prefer these with the SS hood, but… I don’t know if it’s the colour or what… but this is probably the NICEST late model 4th gen Z28 I’ve ever seen. The colour is just amazing. I wouldn’t change a thing about it aesthetically. I know this is an older video, but I hope you still have this. I have an 85 IROCZ Z28, a 94 Z28, and a 2010 SS.
Thank you! Unfortunately I don't have it anymore but I think about this car way more than I thought I would. I put so much time, effort and thought into everything I did to it. Comments like this make me smile still :)
@@tampabaybuilds6825 hope you get one again. 95 Z28 was my first car, I loved it, and it unfortunately caught fire (wanted to be a Firebird I guess). Luckily I only had a few very minor burns, and melted hair on the right side of my head (a quick haircut and all was good), lol. That was in 2006, and I dreamt and dreamt about that car all the time because I missed it so much. Finally grabbed the 94 Z28 last summer. It’s not the exact same, but it’s pretty close (basically just doesn’t have leather, which I could easily change). Maybe one day that will happen for you too!
i did forged pistons and rods, rocker arms, valve springs, pushrods, lifters, stage 2 pro ls cam, fi-tech intake, stock heads stock crankshaft Aces fuel injection jackpot plug in play kit. pushin about 750hp naturally aspirated. go big or go home😅
What's the company name that built the transmission and how's it held up so far
cahallperformancetrans.com/4l60e%2C-65e%2C-70e Don't have the car anymore but it seemed really strong.
you paid 1750 for your trans...nice!! can send me the info,im in Florida also (central fl
Call my guy Tom Simpson at Simpson Performance in Clearwater and he'll tell you who the guy was that built my transmission. I don't remember the name but it was something like "callahan". Tell Tom that Nick Hodges sent you
cahallperformancetrans.com/4l60e%2C-65e%2C-70e
You need a higher stall converter.
Is anyone making 500rwhp on a 5.7 ls1?
Mph doesn't win races. Et does.
Remove the heads to change lifters. Did I hear you correct?
Rare to hear of a built 4L60E in a strip built car. I thought the world had moved on to the 4L80E all the way lol.
Hey hey!! Sweet ride!! That's cool Jeremy tuned my cammed 2010 single cab. Cool video man👍🏼
YES YES YES DO IT AGAIN DO IT AGAIN!!!!!!
Nice honest video mate. Sub'd
Great video thanks
Great info.. I wish you had some links in the description to some of the best prices for these parts, that would be really helpful. I have an 04 GTO and have been reading up on mods and watching all kinds of videos to get some ideas. I already put on a K&N intake, and next I want to put on a new exhaust. Thinking about the loudmouth exhaust or magnaflow exhaust. Then I'd probably like to do a coilover kit, then headers and a camshaft. I'm also looking for some people around the Cincinnati area that work on LS1s if anyone has any info I'd appreciate it.. I'd like to find someone to help me do the mods so I can learn. I'm just using the car as a daily driver, not really looking to put it on the track
honestly unsure if you meant full bolt on? also have one of these, they're fun lol! I'm just wondering why you went with a blower cam from the LSA instead of a cam designed for n/a use? unless boost is planned? 👀
Thanks for doing this, nice to get a consumer daily driver perspective, great details!
I see the stock 4l60 didn’t last long
Nope! That and the rear end went very shortly after. Had them both rebuilt
What length pushrods did you end up using I have the exact setup you did 5.3 ls with 243 heads with new valves and spring upgraded ones, and same cam setup just curious what pushrods you ended up going with, thanks
Hmm, sorry I don't remember what size rods I used. There are some calculations you can do to determine the size, I also gave my mechanic a pushrod length measurer
Maybe someone has already pointed it out,but you have forgotten the SLP Lit. On summit it is about 400 bucks. Great video, lots of useful informations.
I love the car dude! But you should add a smooth bellow to make more rpm but your choice and it will add a bit more horsepower
Nice Bronco!!! I’m starting my frame up restore on my 79 F150 Styleside C4 2 bbl truck
This could’ve been summarized in 5 mins
You are right
Wow this is perfect, I just bought an LS1 Camaro recently and i need this
Great video for new F-body owners like myself, very understandable.
If you aren't running a turbo or supermarket you may want to change your pistons for more compression.
Thanks man that was a great help 👍
Nice car...Don't listen to all the derps here hating on it. They are slow anyways.
4th gens are just cheap v8s if you dont care how ugly they are, but the lt1s were better
@@ethanol-fb lts are shtt
@@jas9256 how? lol
I see you haven’t done a video in a long time. Hope all is well.
I think I’ve already told you before, but this was and is a great video man. Really helping me.
10 time watching now 😂👌🏼🇦🇺
Get flaps
