Sharing my experiences with owning and flying the Mitsubishi MU-2B-60 Marquise TurbopProp aircraft. I have had the pleasure to own and fly many aircraft over my private aviation lifetime, and enjoy sharing information and experiences along the way.
Past Planes: Mooney M20J , Beech Bonanza A36, Tradewinds Turbine A36, Baron 58, Cessna 414A, JetProp DLX , Pilatus PC12, and now the wonderful Mitsubishi MU2B-60 Marquise.
Hopefully you can enjoy aviation a little more though sitting in the right seat with me. We are always learning, and why not learn together.

can I ask a dumb question here......Lets say for the sake argument I bought an M-2.....can you upgrade the avionics in that airplane to a full glass panel if a person wanted to?
Yes, it is very common actually - Full garmin panels are the norm
thank you for sharing! What's the shortest runway you can comfortably get in and out of?
I personally had a 3500 min , but there are guys that operate out of shorter runways
thank you for sharing!
where is the GPU plug on a MU2?
Just to the rear of the entry door - on the Marquise - photos.app.goo.gl/7gdJc3kWVXmMhMSB7
Can we get an update on your startpac? I've got a Merlin with 10s and FBOs all over the place are crying about unplugging the gpu. Time to do something different, but 5grand is a lot of scratch! How is your pack holding up? Are you counting how many starts you have put on it? Thanks!
Would average 6 starts on the -10's before a recharge was needed.. Still going strong.. would not own a -10 without it tbh
@@DavidMcGirt Thanks David, that's exactly what I needed to hear. The -10 is a great engine, ya just gotta get the damn thing started.
Man! I just love watching your videos. Anything related to sound quality or video editing didn't enter my mind until you mentioned it. Thanks for the ride, my friend.👍
I've seen a few MU-2's climb and turn (like a scolded cat) to avoid the heavy rain at the end of the runway down here in Miami. Most cats understand that water and fur don't mix and do everything they can to prevent it from happening to them.
Crappy obsolete Pro-Line avionic. Piaggio should have switched to Garmin a decade ago. There’s still hope.
I don’t like the fact that the aircraft flex so much, a major problem for me as an owner.
Great vid! Flight planning, weather, ice, ATC, runway selection, conditions and solid CRM. Plus an amazing aircraft. Thank you for producing these. I’m still in a glass 172, it’s seeing this that motivates me to keep moving. Also, a special thank you for persisting and not letting the obvious ignorance and spitefulness of so many keyboard kowboys prevent you from sharing your flying career with us. -R
I own a Mitsubishi two, but the land variant with 4x4 and turbodiesel, lol nice plane great vid
Great plane ,both models Marquise and Solitaire but made for professionals thats why a lot of them crashed with wrong individuals on command.
Are you a MEI?
I am not, just a plain old pilot :)
Damn what a beautiful airplane. I live in a town where the airport is so boring that the plane passing by above my house are either 737 or 320 but once a while an Avanti screams by and boy oh boy what a nice plane to behold 😉
Even with a tailwind, 465 GS is insane for a prop
Where do we send requests for low flyby's on a neighbor that complains about every loud noise? lol
The rice rocket we called them
good to see yo posting again sir. as you can see from my profile pic, im an ex MU-2 driver myself. had the pleasure of flying it for 4 years during my early carreer. before going on to the airlines. the one i flew didnt have all that fancy cockpit screens stuff, what a lovely plane you have. i surely miss flying it, maybe somedya i get to shake your hands. congratulations on a very well maintained machine.
Thinking seriously about getting another Marquise as a backup.. :)
You are flying the 3 best flying machines, still waiting for the full videos.
Great to see you posting again! I'm still looking for my MU-2 I hoe you are enjoying the Piaggio
Not that you missed her, huh. Looks great!
Flew that beauty for nearly 4 years down here in Brazil. Old school panel and Loved it and miss it. Congratulations on your machine. Looks beautifull. Lovely upgrade too. I fly the 737NG and Max8 nowadays. Regards from Brazil.
Any reason you don’t set the props to 98% in cruise?
Just how I was taught to be honest.
Wonderful machine. With love from Italy
Such a work of art the MU-2! Honestly even in MSFS2020 it took me time to learn it! Sure grows on you!!!
The MU-2 on msfs is honestly really BAD. If you ever have the time, check out the MU-2 on X-Plane by TOGA Simulations.
Flew them in the 90s. Was my first turboprop and just loved them. The B1900d was more powerful and user friendly but to fly the Mu2 was a joy. Just don’t be foolish and they’ll alway play nice.
Thanks for sharing.
Love the MU2s!!
Thanks for sharing!
favorite🙃
Love the avanti , glad to see your flying it. I'm guessing i won't see you at the mu2 meet this September😅
Maybe!
0:36 music input throughout the speakers? 🙂 Am not a pilot, but I always loved analog dashes airplanes. 👍
Actually, the cameras are hardwired to the audio panel ( through the headset jack )
Great landing under those conditions..
Was fun :)
@@mu2b60marquise I recently got the MU2 for my flight simulator. Looking forward to learning how to fly it. It is a very cool looking airplane and I especially like the analog gauges on mine.
Back in the 80's we called them Rice Rockets for a reason
:)
What about the spoilers on the MU-2, do they activate automatically or manually?
They are manual
With only spoilers, after touchdown I think crosswind directional control is easier with yoke the opposite which lifts the downwind spoiler and counters weathervaning into crosswind. This is counter intuitive to ailerons into the crosswind to keep the wing from coming up. It works in a DC 9.
Your absolutely right! My lizard brain could not overcome the "normal" mode of operation..... :)
The lithium start pak is just fine if it stays on the ground. I would not feel too comfortable flying with that in the air. Lithium batteries have a nasty reputation of catching fire. Boeing had problems with it, had to put it in an armored container, that cancelled out some of the weight savings.
i'm no battery expert, but if the lithium battery doesn't catch fire sitting in the hangar, why would it catch fire sitting in the plane....because your'e putting a hot battery in the baggage?...not trying to be a smartass, just genuinely interested...
@@slimpikkins9526 Staying on the ground means non aviation uses in this case.
I have a lot of hours many years ago in the MU-2 and I have a lot of respect for it. It reminds me of flying the early Lear jets, the Mitsubishi is not a plane that you want to ever get behind on when flying it. It’s a reliable platform that never let me down but with those short wing spans you just need to be vigilant. Many people used to call this the “widow maker” and the accident rate was high , but I loved flying it. I’m in my mid-50s and have been flying since my teens, planes like this are the roots / bones of what make a pilot . I’m in the left seat on a 74-8 flying “rubber dog s***” (if your a freight dog & a Top Gun movie geek you get the reference) out of Hong Kong & whatever other throw away electronics our country requires & pilots now a days don’t “fly” the plane anymore , machines like the MU, Metroliner, early Lears teach / learn you to get away from that AP switch & hand fly. Cool plane and nice video
It is a lot of fun to fly, and could not agree more with your comment about getting behind..
Jim "Mac" McGrath was one of my idols in the early 70s. He was known to be the highest time MU2 pilot in the world. He operated out of a 2400ft strip for many years. He was featured in their advertising too.
Just found your channel. Great job !! Thanks' for doing what you do!
Thanks for watching!
In my opinion. It's #1 of the nicest aircraft and best looking aircraft on any ramp. I've seen them moving around upclose
Got my ticket in El Paso in 1975 and my Checkride was administered by Larry Bartlett. Larry had a fierce reputation, but he was very good to me on that day. Larry was also a commercial pilot who sidelined doing contract work for the owner of an MU2. In a conversation with Larry, his comments on the MU2 were that take-off is conventional, cruise-climb and cruise-flight were conventional. He noted that landing required "technique" but it was not difficult to master. "Fly it on" in a 3 point configuration and all is well. A big showman flare will result in a big showman embarrassment. The more I watch the MU2 and its values, the more I like it.
Such a tease!
They need to add this to Microsoft flight simulator
great video!
Richie rich!
These are King Air 200 numbers. Nothing out of the ordinary for a turboprop.
The value proposition is the operating cost and purchase price - $5M for KA250 vs. $1M for the nicest MU2 in the fleet. OPEX ~ 1/2
What aircraft?
Piaggio Avanti II
waiting for avanti videos sir
I know, I know! I will try .. it is a royal pain to remember everything and then edit.. will try..
Great video past aerostar owner just love your aircraft. In setting up inside camera zoom in more to see the flight director then see glide slope and of course you speed. We all .love .to watch speed. Christopher Ottawa canada
I was a pilot back in the 80s in the Caribbean, hoping across all those islands , your plane brings back beautiful memories of all those years , enjoying all those timeless machines, Cessna 340, 414 , MU-2 , Cheyenes, Piper Senecas and Piper Chieftain.
