🌞 RV Solar System Explained 🤔 PARTS + CONCEPTS for DIY Van or Camper Install
Our solar system has been a GAME CHANGER. But there was a steep learning curve when selecting parts, designing the system, and doing the installation. After watching this video, you’ll understand how to design an RV solar system-and save yourself a TON of research time!
In this crash course, we go over all of the components of an RV solar system. In addition, we explain how these components work together. We also break down important electrical concepts and definitions.
This information will help you select parts, determine the number of solar panels you need, choose battery type, decide on the right inverter for your needs, and more!
❗️Be sure to check out our comprehensive guide! It’s 100% free, and is FULL of valuable information that we didn’t have time to cover in this video.
We took everything we've learned through hundreds of hours of research, plus living full-time on the road, and put it into one easy-to-follow guide! thiswyldelife.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/Solar-Guide-This-Wylde-Life.pdf
☀️ Our system: six 100 W panels, two 100 Ah Battle Born lithium batteries, and a 3 kVA Victron MultiPlus inverter.
We bought panels from Renogy and everything else in a custom kit from AM Solar and installed it ourselves.
The kit includes all the small parts that you wouldn't think of, and AM Solar does an amazing job answering questions throughout the process. After installing the system and using it for several months, we are convinced that it’s one of the most DIY-friendly options on the market.
❗️Because we loved working with AM Solar so much, we contacted them and asked for a 5% discount code for our viewers. Visit them online bit.ly/twlsolar and use code TWL5 for a ✋ 5% discount on your order!
We are not sponsored by AM Solar, and don’t receive anything for promoting their kits. We only receive a small commission if you use our discount code, which helps support educational materials like our guide! thiswyldelife.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/Solar-Guide-This-Wylde-Life.pdf

❓If you have any questions, drop us a comment! We love helping other travelers design and install a solar system that will transform their camping experience.
With an RV solar install, you can camp off-grid without the stress of conserving power or running a generator to keep batteries charged. This opens up a whole new world of boondocking!
Whether you’re camping in a travel trailer, van, or motor home, having a well-designed solar system will give you greater convenience and enjoyment while camping. We've found that it's one of the most essential RV accessories because it just makes travel EASIER.
👫 About Us: We're Cameron and Victoria Wylde. We live full-time in our 2015 Airstream International 27FB travel trailer. For years, we dreamed of living and traveling full-time in a camper.
In July of 2020, a few weeks after buying our Airstream, we took the leap. We downsized from 2,200 square feet to 200 square feet. We had never owned an RV before, and weren't sure if we were making the right choice. But within a few weeks, we knew that we had made one of the most exciting and fulfilling decisions of our life.

🍄 MUSHROOM HUNTING in Telluride while Airstream Camping, Hiking & Mountain Biking
Переглядів 1,5 тис.2 роки тому
We visited Telluride, CO for the second time this summer, and were lucky enough to stumble into the annual mushroom festival. After a misadventure through the woods, we got some expert advice and headed back out to forage for some choice shrooms. We also took advantage of the smoke-free skies and mountain biked twice on Telluride's ski mountain. For our second ride, we bought tickets to the dow...
TRUCK TOUR 🛻 How We STORE IT ALL • Full Time Airstream RV Travel
Переглядів 2,4 тис.2 роки тому
We live full-time in our 27FB Airstream, which doesn’t have as much storage as many other travel trailers. So we store a LOT in our truck: three bikes, a grill, camping gear, tools, RV essentials, extra water, and more! Our 2020 Chevrolet 2500 has a 6’ 10” x 4’ 2” bed and a 2,000 pound payload capacity. This allows us to carry a substantial amount of gear while also towing our camper. In this v...
😕 FEELING DEFEATED w/ Full Time Airstream Travel
Переглядів 6 тис.2 роки тому
Full-time travel has been wearing on us. Heat waves, unhealthy air quality, sudden family emergencies, and frequent relocation have taken a toll on us mentally. We’ve been lucky to travel to Colorado’s best mountain towns, including Crested Butte, Aspen, and Telluride-but it’s been a hard summer. An unfortunate reality of climate change is that heavy wildfire smoke and unpredictable heat waves ...
BEST COLORADO MOUNTAIN 🌲 TOWN - Hiking, Mountain Biking, and Boondocking in Crested Butte
Переглядів 4,6 тис.2 роки тому
Crested Butte just might be our favorite place in Colorado. There are endless hiking and mountain bike trails, dispersed camping is easily accessible, and the downtown is full of authentic mountain town charm. We’ve spent the summer in our RV dodging wildfire smoke and bad air quality, so when we arrived in Crested Butte and the air was clear, we didn’t waste any time before hitting the trails....

What better way to celebrate turning 60 than by hiking your first Colorado 14er, right? Many campers stick to RV parks, but they’re missing out on some incredible boondocking opportunities! Also known as dispersed or dry camping, these campsites have no hookups. That said, even the most hardcore boondockers find themselves at an RV park now and then-we did! In this video, ...

Telluride, Colorado for FREE 💰 Full-Time Travel ≠ Expensive
Переглядів 3,1 тис.2 роки тому
Many people assume that full-time travel is expensive. We live in an Airstream, and our expenses are MUCH lower than when we lived in a house. As an example, we’ll show you how to visit Telluride without spending a penny. Okay, your flight, fuel, or vehicle might cost something, but that’s where credit card reward points come in! And that’s another topic. We travel in an RV, but you could also ...

Should've grown up there in the 70s and 80s before all the tourons like you started ruining the peace n serenity. Nothing against tourists I'm one sometimes but when idiots come in and disrespect and bring their habits and politics and destroy a whole isolated valley community and ecosystem. It's sad what Crested Butte and Gunnison county has become now. My buddies parents started mountain biking and us kids got to enjoy complete solitude and peace as soon as you got 1/4 mile from Elk Ave. Now you can be 10 miles out on a trail and see 20 people and the whole way there pass dozens of people and not see one buck in velvet.

Are you referring to the running lights on the rear roof? I was wondering about whether or not to throw some sealant around those or just get new 3m tape. I think thats what is used from factory ?

@@johnsims709 Yeah. I was told do not seal lights. The theory is that you can cause the bulb/lens to sweat which will lead to corrosion.

I'm 67 and last year hiked about three miles up a hill to see some bristlecone pines in Great Basin Nat'l Park. the elevation was close to 11k. that one kicked my butt. In 1968 while in the boy scouts we climbed Mt. Whitney in Ca. Two pretty high times for me!! Cool video....

I just watch your video. I live on the Olympic Peninsula. I use a propane/gas generator when camping off grid on the Peninsula. You need to make reservations a year in advance on the Peninsula. I just show up early on a week day and shoe horn my travel trailer into one of the first come, first served tent sites at one of the state parks. I cook outside on propane. I run fridge, hot water heater on propane to conserve battery power. My generator is used to charge my house batteries. They charge quickly, then I shut the generator down. I can go two days on house batteries before I have to charge them again. There just for lights, heater fan and water pump.

Hey just found your vids. Getting into Airstreams. Been looking at what a good rig would be to go FT with and one I could work remote. From what I've seen I think for us that would be the Flying Cloud 30FB Office! I think this would be as good as it gets. I've always been a fan of Newmar Class A's. But I want to get out there and do this sooner than later (or if ever) given the prices of those rigs.

The ham radio community sells brackets that can give you a solid mounting. I would NOT put a telescoping pole up using 3 plastic brackets. What they sell for ham antennas comes in machined billet aluminum if you look. Many cheaper sheet metal versions are available.

You're trying to put a square peg into a round hole with that thing. That's why trailers in the 27ft range are the most common For Sale on C-list. The really nice places that offer a little privacy, no fee, that "wild" environment - are often not suited for huge RV's.
