Preamble of thing to come Headlining and fur flex
👍
my mirror was attached to the support first and the headliner was over it...mine has the original headliner....
🤔 Let's see; paint fumes, exhaust fumes, and bourbon. Explains a lot!
When you hear knocking, say, "Who's there?"
I tried your suggestion and the response I got from my car caused useless tube banned me for a month 😁😁😁
Interesting video thanks Gary.
Glad you enjoyed it
Hi Gary, it looks good. These leaks are unpleasant, but I think you will seal them. 👍🍀
Yes but I am sure there will ALWAYS be leaks :)
You didn't tell how to manually raise the roof. Lock ram mechanism
Pull it up
@jagvette1 And by what method without damaging anything? They don't actually come up easy. Guy I got the car from used a broken axe handle to pry them up. Doing so he broke the two trim panels that go by the rear windows.
Good thing I don't have to do this work anymore. But you're making good progress. 👌
@@UdoIBress then it’s time you bought another Jaguar
well done
I suffer with....🫣
@@UdoIBress what a pain
Well done.
Love this guy. Good honest imformation.
WOW! You'd think it would be easier. Thanks Gary!
Interestingly, many BMWs ( Cooper, Z3 ) have a hole just like the one you're cutting JIm. And, in the very same place. And, guess what's underneath. Yep. A fuel tank. Brits did drill a lot of holes in their cars. But I think it was mostly to give water a way to drain out.
Headlining coming along nicely.
I think steaming the fabric is brilliant, I’m going to need one of those . I am a couple of months progress behind you so your videos are very timely and helpful as always.
@@ronhoffart6832 it time you worked faster then I can learn from your mistakes 😁😁
Well done mate, it seems as if you make plans & god laughs, 1 step forward & 2 back but your perseverance is an inspiration to all that have watched, enjoyed & endured your highs & lows in this epic refit, keep doing what your doing, remember if it was easy everyone would do it.
@@murrayauto too true
Garry....once you have finished the headache....I mean headlining......the rest of the interior will be a walk in the park........you will finish the car before you know it
@@tisheftychiou2168 I hope you right this is a mammoth task
If u use a piece of white chalk u can place your wood trim on and then trace the outline of the wood trim with the white chalk . Then remove the wood trim and u have a line where u can place your staples below that chalk outline . The chalk can easily be removed by brushing it off . I know u will soon be on to the upholstery of seats and other parts of the interior u can use the chalk to aide u in marking your pieces of upholstery .
@@WilliamKennedy-e5j good idea I will get some tailors chalk
Just a heads up if u had taken your favorite laundry fabric softener poured in a spray bottle and mixed 25% liquid softener and remainder water and misted the panel you are about to steam it would have aided u in removing wrinkles .
@@WilliamKennedy-e5j interesting
VERY interested in the headlining.
Looks like my birthday present is coming along well 😂
if you have 200,000 it's yours
Looking good? Which way up did you decide for the clips at the end of the rods?
They curve up
I can't wait for you to finish this car and give it to me for my birthday
I bought this car as my retirement project to work on, but I have a few suggestions for those who have the same idea: 1. Have a dear friend like Gary to help 2. Have plenty of bourbon on hand 3. Take your time 4. Did I mention that you need to have plenty of bourbon on hand?
After completing this project, I have suggestions: 1. Do not use a cheap hole saw to cut a round hole. 2. Use pneumatic metal shears and cut a 12" square hole. 3. Keep plenty of good bourbon on hand. 4. Have plenty of bandages on hand.
Good progress on the headliner, thanks for the video Gary.
Headliner is now looking nearly there. I’m guessing when you staple it, that will tighten it further. Those little clamps are brilliant BTW.
The steam will make the fabric stretch, so pull it tight as possible after streaming, and then it will shrink, tightening it.
👍🤠
Okay The headliner already looks good. With a lot of patience it will get better.
Thanks for the headlining videos. That is my first project after we come out of the deep freeze. Bought my set of Cleco clamps last night.
I gotta say they work very well, good luck.Yes it's cold here tooooo today in my garage was 71 degrees, I don't know how I cope 😁😁😁😁🤣🤣🤣🥶🥶🥶
Times like that...... Im glad I have a Coupe. Good Luck Mate!!! These Old Jags are a battle! You said a mouthful. I did the power steering pump, Alternator, Rear wheel bearing, and a TON of other work. It must be love, OR We love pain. I have also had a plethora of Window problems also. My car is a 1997.
A labor of love and stupidity
I prefer longer videos, 20 mis to half an hour.
You are an angel and saved my day. My 2002 XJR conv rear right quarter is shmucked so I bought a complete window and regulator assembly (broken) from a wrecker as well as the repair kit and thought I would fix it and then replace the XJR's bad regulator with that. Of course I now have all the bits and pieces all over my work table with no clue as to which way to thread the hub and pulleys... But now here I go thanks to you.
hope it helps
If you put some grease on the seal and then push it into the recess. It will hold until you get the filter housing in to place. This works well for me. :)
next time
@jagvette1 yes, you only do it the hard way once! LOL
good work gary👍
Thank you Gary for working on my car. I'd be lost without you.
Nutty Jim is a handsome cuss!
Don't take a vote on it.
Mr. Magoo, you've done it again
You are amazing Gary!
Gosh you make me blush🥴
Hope you don’t mind me posting this Gary. I had to get some parts for my wiper arm. Someone had fitted an oversized hose/tube and broken a connector piece. The little round cover (cap) that goes over the nut securing the wiper arm is JLR part no. GJA8966AB. Confusingly, these are handed in JLR’s parts list but are both the same. The little hose that feeds the wiper is JLR part no. JLM20619 The angled connector that the hose goes onto and goes through the middle (in my R/H drive car) of the bulkhead plastic trim is JLR part no. GJA8969AB.
Contact Jim on (480) 203-8091 he sells xk8 parts
Thanks for the video Gary.
👍
Loving your work Nutty Jim.😁 Just the sort of alternate method i would enjoy (and possibly regret) attempting. Hi Gary✋
@@ToTheGarage It’s not something I would’ve done he did ask me to and I refused but it’s his car I will help but I will not cut a bloody great big hole in the back of my car I will remove the tank
@ I knew you would say that😁👍. Great videos mate
Hi......cutting and grinding near all that fuel....could have been fireworks night
that's why three of us did the job one cutting two on fire watch. the customer wanted to do it this way I would have removed the tank, but it was his choice.
@@jagvette1 The customer is a crazy Irishman
Looking forward to watching this.
Well done young un. You got there in the end and will help others.
What a battle, yes I hope it helps others even though it is a bit long winded
What a tedious job...wow. but well done.👍
One thing I would like to add thanks to Peter Smith, what ever you do , do not spin the outer casing of the filter housing on installation as this can dislodge the rubber seal.
