I was just going to say something that Udo has already said. Details work fine for the less mechanically (although very interested) inclined people like me. And yes, this is a job that can be done on the drive. Cheers
As a young boy my cars also had what we referred to as a oil filter and filter canister with the sealing ring that attached to the motor . There was a spin on filter adapter which u could convert that old oil filter and oil canister to just a spin on modern style oil filter . A great improvement to the oil filter .
One thing I would like to add thanks to Peter Smith, what ever you do , do not spin the outer casing of the filter housing on installation as this can dislodge the rubber seal.
Hi Gary. Thanks for going into the detail. There will always be someone that wants to see the full oil filter change.. the engine flush product was a good idea. Never thought of that one. will look when doing my next oil change.
When I worked at a Jaguar garage in the UK we always did an oil flush and if we every took apart one of the engines it was always nice and clean inside.
If you put some grease on the seal and then push it into the recess. It will hold until you get the filter housing in to place. This works well for me. :)

Hi Gary, yes details are always important... See ".... Houston we have a problem!" So keep it up!!!
Whack a load of grease in the seal groove, then put the seal in. That's how i did it anyway.
That’s probably a good idea, but I did manage to get it in however I may well use that option next time gosh what a bitch
