I have a 2010 fusion. Isn’t there a special diamond washer behind the harmonic balancer that needs to be replaced? And should the bolt also be replaced?
Hey, i am pretty mechanically inclined but I've never messed with timing in anyway. I have a 2.0 duratec focus and im pretty sure i have a bad harmonic balancer. Its kinda wobbly, and im getting an engine "whine". Anyways, i cant find any videos on my specific model to replace just the crank pulley. But, i have found a bunch on changing the timing chain. Do you think i could use those videos on timing chains as kind of a guide to change the crank pulley without messing up timing? Thank you.
Quick question i replaced the timing cover gasket on a 2016 ford transit connect xl with the 2.5, but i didn't touch the timing at all i didn't even put it on tdc, but when i removed the harmonic balancer i market it with a market and put it back i haven't started it but what do u think ? Im a mechanic i just haven't worked on any of these engines b4
What does stupidest shit I ever seen yay Ford you screw us again I suggest that they recall all these motors and at least put a dowel pin or keyway in the crank and then put a notch in harmonic balancer every damn car ever built harmonic balancer and or crank keyway only one way installation but no Ford had to screw us again I got me a brand new 20 lb sledge hammer take a ride to see Ford engineers and give them a love tap or as we call it whack fuck
Hello what’s advise Can you give me if i pull out the harmonic balancer with out locking it put the new one and start the car and car won’t turn on now?
@@chrisdavis9556 thank you very much Chris I would appreciate that I got the tools now I just didn’t had them before. One more question can I reuse the bolt?
I did everything I was supposed lined up using the pin turned the crank til it stopped took valve cover off put cam alignment tool everything was perfectly lined up put back together lined up wouldn't start turned over fine so I took back apart and lined up everything perfectly again pulled off harmonic only difference I see is the newer harmonic balancer ring has more teeth and smaller than the original could that be the cause?
@@chrisdavis9556 the harmonic balancer look identical except for ring in the back the original had 35 teeth the one I have has over 40 still trying to figure out what the ring does I think it gives a signal to the crankshaft position sensor?
I see that crank pulley broke the one on mine is making a loud rattle noise at idle goes away at acceleration so even if I'm just changing the crank pulley and not doing a timing job I still need this tool?
I removed harmonic balancer without marking its' position. I took the cover off and resealed it. How do I determine the position of the pulley when I put it back on? I don't know the engine cylinder position.
I used the small piece that you used for the top joint, got fused to the ball joint - having a really hard time getting that piece off the joint ! Thinking use the large one first, get the joint moving - then move to using that small piece to finish it off.
Wow! I just broke 2 ball joint presses! Trying to take off the driver's bottom ball joint. On a 2006 Ram 2500 4x4, I just bought a Makita corldless 1,200 lbs of unbolting power and it didnt even move, so now I think I broke the impact, but its new so its still under warranty.
You really have to ensure the cams are in the correct location .Use cam alignment bar it will only fit one way. That bolt will slide threw the damper and screw into the block with the cams in the wrong location . Tightening that damper bolt 30 lbs,75lbs then an additional 90 degrees showed me how old I really am. That a real ball buster !
Today I removed the crank pulley without installing the service bolt or locking the cams in place, since then I haven’t touch the engine, you think I might have damaged the engine?
Good video, removing the crank pulley question. What are you using to hold the crank in fixed position while removing the pulley? Are you just relying on the cam positioning bar? And or the small bolt in the bottom of the crank pulley? Thx

yes the bolt comes with the washer
I have a 2015 Ford focus and I think I might of messed up changing the harmonic balancer pulley without special tools any help or advice
get the tools and pray you didn't bend the valves
I was quoted 1300 to replace two lower ball joints on my 14' 2500. It's a ripoff huh
about 3 to 400 dallors to mich
to much lol
The balancer does not control mechanical timing if you tighten it down without lining it up correctly it will only effect ignition timing.
there is no line up pin . the motor will spin and yes mechanical timing will be off.
Mine is basically welded in ,not coming out😂
heat it up with a plumber torch

for the most part it should

Don't EVER use a pair of pliers to turn the crackshaft! That's cutting it up.
Only if you use heavy force.
It would make better sense to show the set up than the frigging impact tighting...
No

Where did you get the ball joint press is there a certain kind to get? Would the harbor freight 4wd press kit work on these dodge 2500 diesel trucks?
Did it work? About to pull the trigger as well.
Do I need to remove the valve cover and use the cam locking tool or just the bolt. Only replacing Harmonic balancer

If its off timing it can
