My g12c speakers didnt take dirt well imo. Def. Had a sound. But i dodnt like it . Was almost a ripped speaker sound
Great demo! Both sound great. I preferred the c clean and the q with dirt, but only by a hair in each case. Might go with the c to handle my higher wattage amps

i question this comparison...looking at the video they are mic'd completely different. I'd trust it more if the mic placement was the same.

19 “There was a certain rich man who was clothed in purple and fine linen and [a]fared sumptuously every day. 20 But there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, full of sores, who was laid at his gate, 21 desiring to be fed with [b]the crumbs which fell from the rich man’s table. Moreover the dogs came and licked his sores. 22 So it was that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels to Abraham’s bosom. The rich man also died and was buried. 23 And being in torments in Hades, he lifted up his eyes and saw Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. 24 “Then he cried and said, ‘Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.’ 25 But Abraham said, ‘Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things; but now he is comforted and you are tormented. 26 And besides all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed, so that those who want to pass from here to you cannot, nor can those from there pass to us.’ 27 “Then he said, ‘I beg you therefore, father, that you would send him to my father’s house, 28 for I have five brothers, that he may testify to them, lest they also come to this place of torment.’ 29 Abraham said to him, ‘They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them.’ 30 And he said, ‘No, father Abraham; but if one goes to them from the dead, they will repent.’ 31 But he said to him, ‘If they do not hear Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded though one rise from the dead.’ ” Luke 16:19-31 10 Jesus answered and said to him, “Are you the teacher of Israel, and do not know these things? 11 Most assuredly, I say to you, We speak what We know and testify what We have seen, and you do not receive Our witness. 12 If I have told you earthly things and you do not believe, how will you believe if I tell you heavenly things? 13 No one has ascended to heaven but He who came down from heaven, that is, the Son of Man who is in heaven. 14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up, 15 that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. 16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. 17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.18 “He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God (YHVH, El Shaddai, Adonai, God of Jacob, Isaac, and Abraham). John 3:10-18
The Retro 30 is obviously brighter. I've got one and it sounds fantastic by itself in a 1x12, but I've got it paired with a Reaper 30 in the top half of a stereo 4x12 and they sound fantastic. The Retro 30 sounds much like my Vintage 30 from the 90s, but a bit louder (103 dB sensitivity vs 100 for the V30). I think it's a fantastic speaker. If playing rock/metal and need one speaker to do it all, I highly recommend it.
What cabinets are these?
The Retro sounds better here, but the mic placements are pretty different. The mic on the Veteran is pointed toward the side of the cone and the Retro’s mic is pointed toward the cap. That could make almost as much difference as the speakers themselves.
Nice , retro has some more spank-o-bility. Bought one for my diy cab
I better demo could not have existed. I play a Jazzmaster with a Timmy into a 20watt blackface style amp. Awesome Video!
Right. And the WGS specs say the resonant frequency is “77.38”. WTF?? If you’re paying for a speaker with 55-5K frequency response shouldn’t you fucking get it??? Assholes
Retro 30 is the best. Articulate, snappy, full, open sounding,, low mid oomph and touch sensitive. Basically... One word... BALLS. In a 412 cab? Killer... smiles for days...
I use WGS green beret and celestion vintage 30s in an X pattern in one 4x12 and I also plug in a 2x12 with it and run a WGS veteran 30 and a celestion Greenback in it. Pure magic
I bought a 5e3 clone a few years back. I’ve had issues with the build quality, and sound quality of the amp. It has finally crapped out! Along the way, I have used a Celestion Blue, and a Jupiter 12LC. I’m having the amp rebuilt as I write this post by good tech, hoping that it comes out great! Im on the fence about buying the G12Q out of FOMO. From sound demos, I know it’s a great fit for a fully functioning, good, sounding 5e3! I know they are on sale at WGS! 😵💫
55 hz reaper sounds like when I don’t change strings for months and months. Like a wet army blanket over my amp. Sorry , I prefer the harmonics of the normal warehouse. Sounds more like Van Halen and ZZ Top Thanks for your time and effort 👍👍
1:03 Gibson, bridge OD 4:01 VS, bridge OD
Wow. I didn't realize there would be that much of a difference. The Retro 30 sounds way better. The Veteran 30 has a weird midrange and yet still has the top end fizz.
Hi! Is there a reason why we never got a G12C vs G12A comparison? 🤨
I just put a Retro 10 in a Fender Champion combo amp. The stock speaker was always thin and had harsh high notes. The Retro 10 was warmer throughout the range and FAR more refined high notes. It appears to be louder, but that may be from the fullness in the mids. The Retro 10 is a really good speaker.
Withe drive engaged Honestly I can not tell the 2 speakers apart, The Veteran on clean is a bit darker but clear to my ears, the retro is a bit more mids to me but still has that awesome tone, Decision decision,
The Q stood out for me right off though the C had a nice ring to it
Retro sounds better to my ears
I needed a 112 cab for my Marshall 1x8 Origin 5 combo so I bought a used cab and it came with WGS Retro 30 in it. WOW, it sounded incredible. The Retro 30 blew away my Greenback and sounds amazing for my punk rock style. Now I need another 112 speaker cab for a 4 ohm combo amp and now I want to try either the Invader 50 or ET65.
Sorry, but imho almost useless because of the different mice positions ! the mike position makes bigger difference than the speaker…
awesome
can you maje a video with green beret 10
Great video. WGS are great, i owned many and they will never let you down.
Hey what do you think about a G15 C or C/S for Xtreme metal with a VH140C ampeg head?
Veteran sounds muffled compared to the Retro. Retro is better.
I can't really tell the difference, or no different enough. Im looking for a general purpose 10in speaker for a wide variety of rock.
