Hey Loren, what detector are you using nowadays and have your opinions changed over time? I’m torn between the Deus 2 and Manticore :)
I've been preferring the Manticore in the forest, park, beach and anywhere near EMI, where as I prefer the Deus 2 in a ploughed field. But that is purely based on my personal preference and not because of performance reasons. There is no wrong choice between the two :)
Holy shit. That’s bad ass buddy-Wellington dirt detective
interesting that any Finnish media dont tell about this..oh wait,Swedes told us that here was no vikings😂😂
Great find.
Gongrats!😊
Holy shit!!!!
So he didn't get to keep it?
Haha, no I was happy to donate it to the museum for study, proper preservation and hopefully someday public display in a museum :)
@@LorenLemcke Nah i would've kept it, cherished it and passed it down as some precious family heirloom
@@Ammi553I am with you...maybe get it appraised first, find out how much that thing is worth and maybe sold it.
how thr f is there a viking sword in Finland
Theres lots of Viking artifacts here :)
Archeologists actually have reason to believe Norse people established settlements on the coasts of Finland at one point, briefly.
@@ZedNull. There are two places named Varjakka in Oulunsalo and Lumijoki, I've read it's a name possibly dating back to Varangian traders or settlers. There was a trading post in Oulunsalo but the location has been lost and the geography of the area has changed in a bewildering way in just hundreds of years due to the land rising. Oulunsalo was still an island 300 years ago, nowadays you can't tell. What was coast at the time of the vikings is now far inland, either sandy woodland, under an airport, under a population centre or destroyed by a gravel excavation site. My homeplace is interesting. A coin treasure from the 1400s was once found here in Oulunsalo and there are hints of a lost coin cache from the 1710s when the Russians came.
With over 400 confirmed viking era sword finds, highest after Norway and Sweden.
Is it just me but does he look like hes reading off a script
Thats because I am :D
Don’t see that every day
Haha certainly not :D
@@LorenLemcke congrats. Find of a lifetime!
Congratulations my Friend🫡🍀 Have a great day!
Thank you!
Now thats Epic! Anything else found there?
@@l.p.menneen_etsijä without spoiling, yes theres more amazing stuff there ;) will be featured in future videos
Congratulations 🥳 thanks for sharing 👍
Thank you :) Happy to share!
Great find! And thanks for always including the mention of the proper procedure when finding anything like this. It might be nice to see a video explaining in more detail why exactly it's so important you stop digging and let the archaeologist collect the item to preserve the context etc. Many people don't seem to understand that.
Thank you! That is a great idea for a video :)
Cool
Awesome find
Thank you :)
Are they worth a lot
Nah, but they are cool :D
@@LorenLemcke I think I’ve got a cannon ball or meteorite

Wow that’s awesome! I’ve never seen a square coin before!

Dude what happened to your middle finger- looks cut
Suuuoooomiii!
I want to give you the benefit of the doubt but your friend is wearing a swastika on his cap. I mean wtf. In case he would argue that this is an ancient symbol bla bla bla: unfortunately it is inseparably linked to the nazi era and on top a forbidden symbol in Germany. Since I live here I feel obligated to flag this video but want to give you a chance to step in first. Hope you can understand where I’m coming from. Thx
I..am..so.. jealous....
Planting coins to try and grow money trees
They were actually traded, and that axe looks more like a woodcutters axe, in my opinion.
The arabic coins were not looted from raids in Arabicnc countries! They were traded since the Vikings were mostly merchants…!
stay in the US, we dont want u in Europe
Moi 😊
Baseball, soccer, and football when? 😃
The arabic coin belongs in the museum!
It actually is in the hands of the museum system :) Happy to donate it!
This pickaxe looks like a Sappie
No the persian silver coins were not looted from Persia The Vikings and Varangians traded in valueable metals cuting Gold and Silver coins made them easier for trading. Most likely the coin was traded in Eastern Europe already being already cut or cut up after to use for trading up north A bunch of cut Persian silver coins have been found throughout Scandinavia along old trade routes some can be traced to as far east as Afganistan
Just how big was the lock for that key.
The size of your nearest microwave oven.
Do you keep your finds ? Displaying them on UA-cam is a good way of recalling the day .
Looks like a chain pendant lol imagine a Viking rocking this as a chain🔥
LOOK AT THE DATE ON THE COINS...ITS NOT A ONE=1... ITS AN "I" OR A "J"...its not/they are not 1s...like 1852...its" I/J 852"..WE ARE 1000YEARS OUT OF DATE, mwaning they ADDED 1000years to our calendar...and if you look closer, you will see..find a coin that was made with the date 1851, or any of the last 3 numbers being a 1, then you will see the difference, between the first "number" & the letter...
This is when humans only knew for technology about smelting iron they didn’t know about any other metal you could make.
What a key that is
I think i found one of those coins #5 over here in the netherlands. There was a lot of trade happening from Friesland (in the netherlands) with the baltic sea countries. Never knew those were rare, thanks for the info :)
