    • @33milegarage34
      @33milegarage34 Місяць тому

      I believe the parts your referencing are for an emergency brake cable attach. Some drums have a bracket style emergency brake and some use a pin that goes in the shoe, thinking that’s the parts your referring to. Thanks for watching and the question.

    I have watched your video and love the detail. I have no power under the hood nor at the wiper switch on my 1971. The fust has power on both sides. I am not sure what year vehicle your video is on and wonder if it is the same for a 71. Using my inspection camera I do not see a solenoid on the back of my tach. Do you know if it is in a different location on a 71 or am just missing it. The issue started when I removed the factory radio and had it upgraded and reinstalled. Thanks

    • @33milegarage34
      @33milegarage34 Місяць тому

      Our corvette is a 1970 so it should be the same. The electrical side of the wipers are a grounded switch system so if the system worked before the radio install you would want to go back and inspect all the ground wires and connections, it’s easy to break the ground wires and pull out the connections while installing a new radio. It’s also possible at some point the actuator got bypassed and removed. Thanks for watching and I hope this helps out.

      Diameter of the fan and how it seals against the radiator are big factors. The fans need to have a shroud that seals tight and covers 80% of the radiator surface. A cheap fan with a little shroud will not keep it cool. Thanks for watching

    You did an excellent job. A lot of work but in the end we can see you have updated the Vette for the better. I am working on my 1976 Corvette installing Inteletronix gauges in a blue color since my car is white with Buckskin interior. Tomorrow I start looking at installing an after market wiring loom as the dash is pulled completely off now and I have power windows and want to install power door locks with an alarm. I have owned the Corvette for 17 years and at 73 years old now I am wanting it finish it and updated it. Your Video gave me additional insights as well as courage to keep moving on with it. The inteletronix I am installing was pretty simple once gauges were removed and on the work bench they look good when I applied power for testing. I was wanting to go with Dakota or needle gauges like yours, but my wife liked the Blue digital and at $440 not a bad price. Good job with the Video as it was pretty professional and well made. 👍👍

    Hey Mike, my wiper problem is that i do not get 12 volts to the plug right after the switch that is activated by the wiper door, i am talking about the red wires with the white stripe. I open the wiper door manually to activate the switch but no voltage. Wiper switch is good, fuses are good, everything is ok but still no 12 volts. Any suggestions? Frank

    • @33milegarage34
      @33milegarage34 2 місяці тому

      So no power to the plug . You will need to start un wrapping and testing the wire until you find the break or short. It’s a bit time consuming but not that bad. Most of the time the wire coating is damaged and the wire gets corroded and fails.You can jumper past the switch to test the rest of the system. But please go and find the break or short. Electrical shorts have burned up so many nice cars. Thanks for watching and good luck!

    Hey Mike, great video. Im trying to fix my wipers at the moment. My problem is that I don’t have any ground to the blue cable into the motor. Do you think that could be the control switch inside the car? I was hoping I would not have to take it apart. Also, my pump was stuck and I’ve cleaned it up and lubricated, but the sliding lever that moves the pump piston seems to be very tight and takes a fair bit of force to move back and forth with your fingers. Is that normal?

    • @33milegarage34
      @33milegarage34 3 місяці тому

      Yea. I would check the switch first. Make sure the switch and body have good grounds when testing. If the switch checks good. Check the motor ground next. That is assuming your wiper door is open with switch made also. Good luck and thanks for the question.

    Great video. I am not getting 12 volts on both pins at the solenoid. Just the one side that goes to the fuse. I believe the blue wire is the one not getting 12V though on my car this wire is black. So when everything is hooked up, the door opens and stays open. Any suggestion?

    • @33milegarage34
      @33milegarage34 3 місяці тому

      Sorry for the delayed response. I have few ideas here. First try grounding the solenoid, the dash ground commonly fail. Next check the wiper switch, that can ground power to the blue wire. Wiper Switch off blue wire will have 12v, wiper switch on blue wire should have zero volts. Bad wiper switch or poor ground can be the issue. Thanks for the great question and watching.

A prior owner had worked on the wipers and everything was hooked up wrong or disconnected. The connector on the switch was put on backwards and the solenoid was dangling. I got it all working. I didn’t screw the solenoid back on to the tach. I left it hanging and ran a separate ground wire for it. Everything works now thanks to you , other UA-camrs and a good elec diagram.

      So no power to switch means your going to inspect the wire for corrosion or a break in the connection. II use a test light or my multi meter to trace the fault back. Well you didn’t explain what the black knob in the middle does 😅 That’s a very cool Vett and my first choice of body design. ❤

      Thanks. I do my best to cover the details but I miss stuff. Something about a C3 chrome number car is just old school cool. Thanks for the comment and watching.

    Well made video, great camera work for a clear view of the assembly process. I didn't see any part where you added lubrication to the touch pads for the front and rear brake halves. The explanation of the brake lines was very clear and informative on the different was to complete the replacement process. Great information without being overly drawn out!

      We spend a lot of time trying to cover all the content but I do miss a step sometimes (brake grease on the guide pads) great catch. Thanks for the great comments and watching.
