Mixing Gravity Color 2K clear
Переглядів 1065 місяців тому
Just an impromptu video of how to mix the Gravity Colors 2K clear that I have started using on all my model/ slot car painting projects. This is safe to use over any paint and will not ruin decals. I forgot to mention in the video that once mixed it’s only good to use for about 30mins. Please note You must use this in a well ventilated area and always use a respirator when spraying this or any ...

A quick video of how I make my thinner for mixing craft paints to use in my airbrush. I also use this to clean my airbrush after spraying craft paints or any other acrylic type paints.

This is the process I use to give my tracks a more realistic looking surface.
Good job man , looks great 😊 ! Greetings from Portsmouth England 🏴
Thank you! Cheers!
THANK YOU!!! you have no idea how long I’ve been waiting for someone to actually show me how to do it thank you man 🙏
You are welcome! Glad it helped you. 👍
Try 75% water and 25% fantastic cleaner for everything acrylic.............................
That’s a neat trick. Those tire truers are handy and can be used for more than just tire truing.
Nice tutorial on the wheel Etching.
This is awesome, I’m on a tight budget. Thank you.
Glad to help.
i wouldnt have thought about straining my paint or using a coffee frother in a month of Sundays! top tips, thank you
Where did you get the 500 ml bottle?
I got the bottle on Amazon.
Where do you get those strainers

1:1 windshield washing fluid to distilled water for 500ml total. Add about 20 ml 91% alcohol, and 10 drops of glycerin (optional).
Thank you, yes that’s exactly the ratio’s I use.
Nice tips. Could you write mix ratio on description to make it clearly?
Thank you very informational
You're welcome
im a new sun shared liked loved cool tips
Thanks for the information, I’m curious if the blue tint in the windshield washer fluid causes the white paint to change color at all.
You’re welcome, No the blue tint in the washer fluid does not change the color of white paint or any color. Once it’s mixed the blue color disappears.
Thank you for the info I'm just starting to learn how to use the airbrush sprayer
@@emmastewart7005 You’re welcome. Hope it helps you on your airbrush journey. 😊
Mask up well when spraying Windshield Washer fluid. Methanol, the main ingredient in windshield washing fluid, is extremely poisonous. Inhaling Alcohol even in small amounts can cause issues. Be aware both are very toxic.
I’m sorry but I have to disagree …I was spraying yellow craft paint the windshield washer fluid turn the paint a shade of green I tried two different yellows and it still happened. Meh have been user error but I eliminated the windshield fluid and use Vallejo airbrush thinner. It was discouraging but I’m going to make another attempt
Thanks Lee.
You’re welcome
Thank you. I bought an Iwata and have a steep learning curve from rattle cans.
You’re welcome. There is a small learning curve but just keep practicing it takes time getting used to it. 🙂
Thanks Lee. Great information. Ron
Glad it was helpful!
Pretty cool, they sure look fast. That great track to spectate at too.
Thank you.😊
Excellent for a beginner like myself. Thanks. Strainer details? I'm sure not all strainers are fine enough and some are probably too fine.

Can you give more detail on the strainer? I’d like to get one and want to be sure to get one fine enough

Finally after watching sooooo many videos I come across one hobbiest who strains his paint. It is amazing the little cruds in there even in a new bottle of paint. Thank you for showing this aspect of your process. Some paints such as Alclad II lacquers may not need straining but craft paint definitely. Household sudsy ammonia will help clean your strainer if it gets too grungy, odor kind of strong so be careful. Cheers
Thank you I appreciate that, yes no matter how well you mix craft paints the strainer is a must if you are planning to use it in your airbrush. Those small particles of paint will get in there and cause clogs.
Absolutely right, Alclad is a lacquer and it works by evaporation, when the nitro cellulose thinner has evaporated the paint is dry. And as long as the resin is in the medium it will stay wet. With these "new" water borne acrylics it quite different. These paints don't really dry, they cure when they come into contact with air. So that means every time we shake the bottle or stir the paint we are curing small pieces of it. This os also why Alclad has no tip dry while water borne acrylics do.
Good tip. Thanks.
What's your thinner mixture?
It’s a 50/50 mix of distilled water and windshield washer fluid then topped off with 91% isopropyl alcohol and 10-15 drops of glycerin.
Great video. I have been starting to use craft paint more often due to cost and availability. Thinning is definitely half the battle. Never thought that I needed a strainer until I saw your video. Cant want to try that out.
The strainer definitely helps a lot. Glad I could help. 😊
Really you should be straining EVERYTHING you put through your airbrush. From primers, to paints, to clear coats. It's just good practice. You can buy 100 disposable paint strainers for like $5-6.
Thank you 😊 👍👍
Never saw it done like this. Took me awhile to learn to thin my paints. I use just water, like 3 drops and 2 drops of craft paint. 8 out of 10 times this works for me. I get great results. Never once thought to strain it and just run it through the gun. I might have to try this at some point. Great idea!
It’s pretty much the same as thinning and using automotive paint. ALWAYS strain what goes in the gun.
Revoslot do make some awesome looking cars 🤗Greetings from Northern Europe...Harry
Is that window washer fluid that you used?
It’s a mixture of windshield washer fluid, distilled water, 91% isopropyl alcohol and 10 drops of glycerin.
could you give me the amounts used of each item. I am spending way too much on airbrush cleaner. Thanks dude!@@leewright653
If I may make a suggestion, you should say what type of Airbrush you are using along with needle size and PSI you spray with. It would be a good starting point for people wanting to try craft paints.
Yes that’s a great suggestion. I was going to do another video about that but I will add it to the pinned comment above.
Cool!
I really appreciate how this UA-camr tackled such a sensitive topic with grace and sensitivity. They didn't shy away from the difficult questions or issues, but instead approached them with empathy and understanding. It's clear that they did their research and took the time to really understand the perspectives and experiences of those affected by the topic. This video was a reminder of the power of empathy and the importance of listening to those whose voices are often marginalized.
Nice job brother👍thx for the insight
No problem 👍

I hear you are in Florida Lee?
Yes I’m in Florida. Winter Haven area.
Cool track and thanks for the paint tutorial video. I used it on my oval I am working on.
Thank you, you’re welcome. Glad the paint video helped you. 😊
do you know what type of quick slicks that car takes?
I’m sorry I don’t know.
That is all quite nice and looks good. My biggest issue is getting paint to stick to Scalextric Sport track.
I have only done this technique on wood tracks. Not sure how it would work on Scalextric track.
You have to clean the release agent off of any plastic track. I used isopropyl alcohol on mine before and after sanding. So far, the paint’s sticking to my track just fine. You may want to check out @BoonesSlotCarGarage.
I like that look 😊 Thank for sharing your technique !
You’re welcome 😊
Those karts are a blast. I have 4 myself.
Can I ask what your track wall on the right side is made out of?
The back wall with the brick or the wall for the elevation down the middle of the track?
@@leewright653 The wall under the Champion sign. It follows the track on the right going around the corner.
@@2264ish I made that out of Crystal lattice from Lowe’s. Cut lines in it about every two inches and scuffed with sandpaper then did a black paint wash on it and wiped off to give it the weathered look.
The BMW sounds a bit strange......, but both cars are beautiful!!!
The BMW is louder than the alpha. Has to do with the body and interior. Much different acoustics in the body of the BMW.
Great looking car!!!!
Outstanding!!!
