My tool setup is a bit different than yours. I get your setup for tools. But you got to question if it practical. Can you really build a cabin with a bacco laplander? You carry a sak but the knife is roughly the same size as your mora. And how often are you planning to dig? You see what I settled with was the skrama 240. Because it's a hatchet/sword/digging tool if needed/drawknife. Then I settled with the silky big boy saw. Because it cuts 8" logs no problem. Then a Ranger SAK. Giving me a locking 4" knife. auger 1" for making ladders and connecting logs together. Auger .35 to making branch nails rather carrying nails. Saves the weight on that potential. I have a Ti Russian spade shovel. But thinking about throwing it out. And my s1 pro by falkniven. And more chisels knife. Who knows My pack is around 35lbs. But still want to hit the sweet spot of 25lbs. But I think that's impossible. I got Dave conibery dead fall traps and a blow gun/walking stick by cold steel for small game hunting. And a SAS 50# bow that protects the 3 arrows in the handle. I want to get to the point that I can survive perfectly long time in this pack.

Should take a look at the nestout solar and 5000mah battery with lamp. Was thinking about getting the 2 panel one. But I saw the 4 panel one for 65$. So I was kinda forced in buying it.

I have the same combination but i have added the savotta Hatka on the back. More room for the Särmä TST thermal cloak and a groundsheet.

Another thing about this ... Much less likely to get you in trouble if this is in your car compated to axe or knife... Reason to dig out car

Council tool woodcraft pack axe will outperform both of these. 2lb head, 24” handle, hardened pole, 90 degree spine to strike ferro rod, Scandinavian grind….i have all 3 and I reach for the pack axe the most. It’s so capable that I miss it when I use other axes. You can hit metal with it which I definitely wouldn’t do with a GB, so if I’m splitting a knotty log I can use wedges to help break it apart.

You can attach an axe to pals strapping with a cheap dog collar for a strap and a paracord soft shackle for the top

I've caught a saw blade once or twice and a very slight axe vs thumb situation which I do not recommend

Just bought this backpack 💪 I'm from Finland and the Savotta headquarters is quite near my location 🤗💪

I have similar set up with the Jääkäri M and osprey aether 55. For all the same reasons as you. I love the Savotta... My only two gripes are I think it would benefit from external lid pocket zip entry and slightly deeper side bottle holders... I use the Wisport 9 L side pockets as I prefer the one clip entry and find the zips on Savotta a bit of a wrangle. Also their size looks more compatible

So if you didn't like the edge on the Mora Garberg why didn't you change the edge? Whenever I get a knife that I do not like the edge I just change it to what works for me. Nice gear, backpack & surroundings out there.

You can take the extra bevel off the Garberg incase you didn’t know. I rather the Garberg than a companion, Just my opinion. Secondary bevel makes the edge stronger as well.

honestly I've had cheap axes and what I found was changing the handle length and shape helps also changing the edge angle really makes a difference.

Pfff good video man how you shoe item and weight. Where I found ya .... That pillow man ... I have it slept other day on it ... not the best ... I dint want to give 70 quid for a pillow I might tell me gradma to sow one for me or sort one out myself ...... Was there problems with the axe coming to the UK ?

I always liked the Scandinavian Forest axe, it seemed like a medium middle ground between a camp hatchet and a full size American that weighs about the same as a sledge. So I went with the Scandinavian and it can handle guess what, mid sized trees and limbs. Wonderful axe. 😊

Savatto is a good company. For the money for this bag, it has the thinnest shoulder straps on the market. $250+ for this rucksack is lame. There's much better less expensive more quantity packs than this one.

If you want to cut that log, make the width of your cut match the diameter of the log.
