    Loads of great tips as always 👏 Not sure you should be watching my car in the "lower" heats to get any track or handling information 😅 there is alot of "wing and a prayer" in my heat😂👍👍

    Do not randomly change the endbell on the motor since this can lead to an inefficient motor; underperforming or getting too much heat in it quicky.

    am i the only one who find my endpoints and camber/toe changing from crashing? i cant make it more than about 5 laps without crashing so pretty much any time i run my car my shit changes, endpoints changing bohers me the most cause that really effects how equally it steers in both directions.

      Upgrade to bigger turnbuckle and rod ends , don't worry when u get better crashing happens less. Slow is smooth , smooth is fast

    All these things are part of a package of handling , ARB's, Diffs, tyres, conditions, spring weights, shock oils etc etc etc, and most importantly driving style all play a part in the end result IMO.

I like the idea on shorts for the simple stuff, but please don't stop the explanation of setup changes, what they do, and where they are useful. I’m not a fan of carpet off-road. I get that its probably easier to manage a track in some regards, and has advantages, but ultimately I think carpet is for on-road. If its not dirt, its not real off-road.

    I believe you can get rid of most of the load transfer by using tuned mass damper. Not sure if they exist in rc but they use them in formula cars. Someone else might know more but that could be an option.

    I’ve been using your 7 adjustments on raceday as my tuning manual. I’d love a video going into more depth on gear diffs and oil. I just switched my b7 to a 2 gear with 60k oil and gained a ton of on power steering.

    The description of moving the inner link position in or out affecting roll resistance makes perfect intuitive sense. Another smashing video!

  • @datadrivenmqb
    @datadrivenmqb Місяць тому

    Moving the top link up means it moves the instant center (where upper vs lower arms "intersect") further outwards. If your lower arm is angled upwards (at the chassis), raising the upper link will raise the roll center, while if the lower arm is angled downwards (at the chassis), it will lower the roll center. Things get even more muddy to think through when the car is mid corner and you're not just looking at it at static ride height 😉

    • @The_Absurdistt
      @The_Absurdistt Місяць тому

      For the most part, you are correct. The dynamics of a link and/or arm height change is difficult to quantify unless it is being modelled with software. It really comes down to how it feels to drive and lap times.

    Going up with the link actually raises roll center

    • @WellingtonIronman
      @WellingtonIronman Місяць тому

      Sorry mate, raising the whole link lowers the roll centre. I plotted it out old school style with intersecting lines to confirm.

    • @benmoisio232
      @benmoisio232 Місяць тому

      @WellingtonIronman I'd like to see how you drew it out

    • @WellingtonIronman
      @WellingtonIronman Місяць тому

      @@benmoisio232 in fairness it can do either depending on the angle of the lower arm, but in carpet setups where the lower arm as angling up towards the wheel, raising the camber link will lower the roll centre. there are diagrams available online that show how to calculate roll centre for a double wishbone setup. Worth bearing in mind that the Hall brothers are also in the process of studying Motorsport engineering, so it’s not like they’re just guessing either.

    Can you suggest a good basic carpet setup for the B7 buggy? Track would be EOS carpet, high grip, medium size. Tires would be Schumacher cactus and splinter. I struggle for a while with the car. Finally I got enough steering, but it is hard to drive the car consistent. Thank you! Your videos are very helpful!

    • @jonpye8655

      I used to race on a surface like that. Schumacher makes some pin type tires that work well for 1/10 truck and buggy.

  • @phoneuser3569
    @phoneuser3569 Місяць тому

    One of the biggest issues with rc racing is the amount of time effort and money needed to race. The non offroad track surfaces like clay, carpet, turf etc. cause more tire needs. If you just raced your "offroad" cars on actual dirt, then tires would not be as critical.

    I’ve been running Azamis and Splinters on my 2WD. The Azamis last a really long time before they’re dead, and the splinters seem to have the perfect amount of front end. The yellow compound splinters don’t last very long so I switched to the blue harder compound and they last twice as long and seem to be just as quick for the most part
