SUPER SIMPLE Spark plug motorbike!
Переглядів 741Рік тому
I decided I would show you all how I make a simple piece of scrap metal art, in the form of a spark plug motorbike. When I started out making sculptures I did lots of things like this that were quick to make and I could sell them at a lower price point, great for learning some basic MIG welding skills, you could probably get away with using a stick / arc welder if that's all you have. Get out i...
Making a Metal Peacock From Scrap!!
Переглядів 17 тис.2 роки тому
I was asked to Make a scrap metal sculpture for Rob at Xtreme plasma to take along to shows and it was up to me what I made!! I decided on a pillar with a peacock on top, created from a mixture of scrap and new metal. Using my @xtremeplasma table I first created a pillar in Part one now in this part (part 2) I will be using it in a number of ways to create the peacock and its tail. I use a few ...
Scrap Metal Pillar for a PEACOCK!!
Переглядів 6932 роки тому
I am making a pillar in this video from scrap metal and some new, as a base for a peacock sculpture that I'm making in my next video. This one presented a few of its own challenges like how to hide an access point to get to bolts without it being obvious as well as how to set out the mosaic scrap in a way that will look good as a background against the peacocks tail. There's welding, grinding a...

I created a full size grandfather clock from scrap and new metal, a memorial piece using tools passed down from my clients wife's grandfather. Kim at a.i.p welding supplies asked me to create something from his wife's grandfathers tools after he sadly passed away and what better than grandfather clock. In this video I use the extreme cnc plasma cutter to cut the framework of the grandfather clo...

Weak no nuts?
Really enjoyed your walk through. At 63 I’ve just started having a go and your video was very helpful. Just to pick your brain a bit is there any materials you don’t weld as I spotted the odd chrome vanadium spanner and some bits that look like they could be galvanized. Any help or tips for the newbie would be greatly appreciated. Keep up the great work.
Cool Peacock came out, bravo to the Master.
Brilliant!
Love the art philosophy mixed in with the cartooning!
Great work man, keep it up.
Another great video
Hello pal. Wow, pi! Im notan artist, but everything I know about scrapping (for CASH) comes from watching youtube channels. I have a scrapping channel, as a felliw scrapper, I always am happy to support another recycler. Liked, subbed and 🔔
Where do you get you’re scrap? And do u only use steel scrap (starting my first sculpture)
very noice i was just wondering what set up you use ie size of welder and gas ..and do you use the same setup to weld the mild steel, stainless steel and copper. But yeah keep up the good work Im just getting into sculpting myself so any tips appreciated 😀
It's an 'aip pirate' mig welder if I remember right it's 170amps. I use 0.8 mm mig wire with a co2 argon mix gas bottle. To weld steel and copper I just use the mig, it's not a strong weld but for sculptures it's fine. For stainless I would use Tig but rarely do that, cutlery that is stainless will be fine with the mig as long as it's not good quality cutlery 😂 hope that helps, I need to do a video of a few tips for getting started.
Cheers for that i'm using a clarke 151 te. I'll try some practise runs on the copper and satinless but i intend to put a euro torch on it and set it up to weld stainless with the dearer gas :(
@@neilgraham2403 if your welding copper to steel, aim more for the steel and just catch the copper slightly with the puddle, hard to explain but you will get it with practice no problem.
Love watching your videos I make sculptures out of cutlery. Can I asked what size steel bars you use to make the frames please
Hi, thanks glad you enjoy them. To frame things out I use 6mm round bar it's really cheap to buy and fairly easy to work with cold.
Love it man came out awesome, very inspirational for my own metal work.
Thank you that's always nice to hear 😁
Awesome work mate, what is the oil called that you use to protect your sculpture's from rust. I use ACF50 on metal parts is it similar to that?
This one was an acrylic lacquer but I recommend Owatrol oil now, they also do a varnish that can be put on after the oil. Really good stuff
You nailed it!
with you making a lot of one-off small pieces shaped in cardboard you could speed things up if you got an "arcdroid" cnc plasma - has a great trace app built in so no CAD needed - XTeme are selling them now too
my own version ua-cam.com/users/shortsza_D35yHSwU?si=CKD5_k98Oy8DXS4c
How did u make the initial wireframe for the dog before u welded the outside of it
Fantastico Meus parabens!!!
loved it ;D
Omg thank you for sharing
Muito bom mesmo parabéns
How can I get that plasma cutting machine?
It is an Xtreme CNC plasma cutter. www.xtremeplasma.co.uk if you end up getting in contact with them tell them where you found out about it 😁
Muito bom mesmo
looks amazing , loving the contrast of copper and steel.
Thankyou, me too.
Ma vou continuar ver .
O seus videos é maravilhosos so que e inglês e fica complicado p entender
Lindo maravilhoso , qual o valor de uma peça como essa?
Parabens pelo seu belo trabalho,
That is fantastic!
I was so glad to see Part 2 appear in my UA-cam feed this morning. It turned out beautifully. I made a raven after being inspired by part one of your phoenix. It's not as big or nearly as well done as yours but I learned a lot from it and I like it (and it sold) so, thank you. If you have time, and don't mind sharing, how do you weld the copper to steel? It looks like you're mig welding it. I look forward to your next project.
That's great to hear, I've been thinking about making a crow or raven for a while. Yes I mig weld them together, it's not a particularly strong weld but strong enough for sculptures.
@@ALoadOfOldScrap Thanks so much for replying. I had never had luck doing that.....until today after I got your message. I did short bursts of weld and it seemed to meld nicely.
Awesome! I try to direct the heat of the weld into the steel more and just bring it over onto the copper a little bit and as you said short bursts works better
Truly remarkable. Well done.
Thankyou 😁
Had to watch it in silent mody berause of the terrible & TOO LOUD „music“ 🤨
Very talented
Absolutely stunning, is that bolted into the ground? A strong wind could catch those wings like a sail, well done sir.
Thankyou 😁 yes the client had a concrete pad laid and it's bolted down to that all around the base
Hey there From Canada! Nice Phoenix. You mentioned a grease and varnish that can be used. Mind giving me the links? Or names. Very interested to check it out. I make metal art (also have a channel) and I’ve been experimenting with different finishes and was very excited to hear of a new one. Anyhow thanks for your time and the lovely video.😊👍🙃
Thankyou very much! The oil I used was called owatrol oil and they also do a varnish that can be applied after the oil which I think is called oxid vernis. Hopefully you can get it in Canada www.owatroldirect.co.uk/product/owatrol-oil/
Nice. However, there appears to be a slight anomaly in the design, particularly with the feathers not seamlessly connected along the back. Something worth considering :)
Thanks, if you mean with the scrap mosaic in the middle I decided to go that route because it honestly just looked better, I tried a few different options and liked this the most.
very impressive 👍
Really cool
I could watch you work all day. I love that you cut your steel with an angle grinder instead of a plasma cutter. I don't own one and cut everything with my grinder or OA torch (which I'm very messy with), so it's nice to see someone do such great work using the tools I use. I'm looking forward to seeing part two. Hurry up :) Btw, I love how you filled in the abdomen with all those little scraps, nuts, washers and weld, etc. and also think you should leave the texture on the beak. It looks terrific!
Thankyou, I really appreciate that! I do use the CNC plasma aswell for lots of things, it's just sometimes it's still faster to get the grinder out. When I started making sculptures all I had was a mig welder that was £100 and an angle grinder that I paid £15 for 😂 you can do plenty with just those tools to be honest 😁
Love watching your videos. The whole process is amazing to me. The snail is fantastic!
Thankyou very much, I have a few more I'm working on at the moment, going to try and be a bit more regular with the uploads.
Great Work!!!
Thankyou
Cracking work as always Nick. How many spare right hand gloves have you got?
😂 I think I could open a shop!!
Amazing work, annoying music. Please Alternative Videos without Music? For people with hearing issues?
Thanks for the input, what about the music didn't you like? Was the volume level not quite right or just not your to your taste?
Both - I am quite sound sensitive early in the morning 😜
Just upload one version without the music,
zoooo nice
Thankyou
Amazing work as always, well done
Thank you 😁
How much would one them cost?
Feel free to drop me an email if you're interested.
I am currently taking a welding class. It that a mig welder you are using? I am currently learning to stick weld with AC and DC+ or DC-
Yes it is a mig, for the vast majority of what I do the MIG welder is the best tool for the job, more refined than stick but not so much as Tig. Hope you're enjoying your class.
Did you heat the long pieces to get the curves?
Not for the gentle curves, only if I need a sharp turn will I use heat for it.
Brilliant. Love it
What gas ratio are you using for all your projects
