Our trip down the Weaver River to Missinipe, northern Saskatchewan with our pals in the beautiful boreal forest. Nice video. The music really does take away from it (for me). Would much rather hear the actual outdoor sounds. Had to turn the sound off to get through it. But good job otherwise.
Great video of your trip. The music detracts from the visual for me... irritated me even. Please reconsider. Curt
Will consider it for next time. Any suggestions where to get copyright free music.
Gil, I use epidemic sound. The only issue is there's a monthly fee. There seems to be a good variety.
Thanks man! @@puddlejumper-sk
Ok, now I see where the pictographs were.
They can be tough to see.
Great video photography and dialogue. Thanks, Gil. Any pictographs?
Doing the Bloodvein next summer with my son. Flying in from Bissett 14 days. Debating on where to start but thinking Larus at this point. Thanks for posting video. I’ll be watching all of it and gleaning as much information as I can out of it.
My wife and I would encourage you to get dropped off near the top of Murdock Lake. That way you get to see the pictographs and only have to do one portage. Also, the campsite just past the portage into Larus Lake is excellent. Thanks for watching and have a great rip. If you have any other questions please lets us know.
When you say top you mean closer to Larus correct? Murdock has two pictos pretty much at each end. I’m assuming you showed the set in the narrows in Murdock before you get into the rapids section you have to portage to Larus. Nice to know that a good campsite is that close still after the fires. Challenge is we’d probably want to get further west on Larus if the wind is good for it that day. Challenge then is I think the western part of Larus is way more burnt! We’ll have been in Quetico in 22, and Wabakimi in 23. If we spend 3 nights in WCPP we’ll have completed what Ontario was calling the Northwest Wilderness Quest from 2016 to 2019. They had a patch for it back then.
@ryanhines2857 Yup that is what I mean. As for the wind it will be somewhat in your face most of the trip, since you are paddling west. My wife and I have been to Quetico once and enjoyed it very much. It is a very well maintained area. If you very get a chance, come to northern Saskatchewan to paddle.
Hell ya! Been waiting for this! Did part of the foster this summer and it was the same thing....low water. Really low. Where did you get your spray skirt from? Cheers!
We had it custom made by North Water when we got the new canoe. It not only keeps water out, but on cool days it helps keep you warm. It does limit your forward line of sight when portaging. The Foster is on our list too. There are just so many choices. I think I will be moving to a different video editor. I am having too many errors with the one I am using.
New subscriber. Just went through a few of your videos while having morning coffee. Never realized how beautiful Northern Saskatchewan is. It has now become a part of our bucket list of trips. Thank you for sharing! Rob & Sabrina
There are so many great places to paddle in Saskatchewan. My wife and I loved Quetico when we were in Ontario.
@@jjjpppggg1 Quetico and Wabakimi are on our 2024 list!
@@robintheoutside We are going to the Bloodvein in 2023, so sort of Ontario canoeing.
Nice 👍
Thanks!
Wish I could of spent more time climbing around Smith Narrows like you guys did. Jelly! I laughed my ass off on the EATMORE panoramic. How did Diane like the trip, and how do you like that MSR tent? I'm assuming it a Hubba Hubba? Thanks for posting!
Diane loved the trip! It is not the Hubba, it is the Elixir 3. That tent has seen us through many trips and storms with no issues. I would buy another Elixir in a heartbeat. Hopefully I get part two of the trip do soon. Take care.
Gil, I want to comment on you new vid but the comment section is turned off. I assuming you don't want it turned off by the comments at the end of your video. So I'm just letting you know :)
Well I screwed that up, again. That's why it is the low budget canoe channel. It is fixed now.
@@jjjpppggg1 Low budget my as$. It's not easy putting together a canoe video! I'll swing by your new release and comment soon! Looking forward to more. Thanks once again for the shout out! Cheers🍻
Hey thanks for the video. What the name of your bug tent?
It is the Eureka No Bug Zone, 13 foot variety. We got ours at our local outdoor store. You can find them here too. eurekatentscanada.com/products/view/735?s=section_15 They take some practice setting up, but once you get it, it works well. You will get bugs in the inside, however they mostly go to the top of the tent, in the corners. If you really hate bugs, like my wife, it is worth the price and weight.
@@jjjpppggg1 cool thanks I just ordered one. Hey did you do the creek from Kemp to Hood lake or the two portages?
@@erikdeconinck We did the other two portages. The year we went the water level was very high. The creek, according to Ric, is doable, but that year there was a lot of debris in it. A group before us tried and failed to get through. Check with Churchill River Canoe Outfitters to see how it is.
great footage
Thanks
really want to watch more great content just awful camera and the music blew donkey balls
Thanks for letting me know. I will try to do better next time.

Great video and info on rock painting. Have been thinking of going into Gow and Deception this summer. Could you share your trip notes?
My wife has written a full trip report here: www.myccr.com/canoeroutes/pink-river-brabant-davin-lake-saskatchewan?fbclid=IwAR121VCO5DqPjHwCufqqRYe-UjsB7o61gqhEoO8OZZWJeEHE2mE6bTgJNJI Also, Ric at CRCO has the full trip report too. Finally, Liam did this trip too, and he spent way more time on Deception and Gow than we did. Awesome Vid Gil. I've stared a long time at that satellite imagery for the Pink River, so I was happy to finally see what the rapids actually looked like. Loved the plant ID, I'm not sure if I've ever come across Northern eyebright, so that was cool to see. Your video makes me want to paddle the rest of that river. Did you catch much for fish? ...and where are you planning you next adventure?
We did catch a few fish, but nothing that large. The moose hunting along the Pink River and lower Wathaman looks great. Depending on Covid and house repairs we will be doing some of the following: Hickson back to Missinipe, Bloodvein River (Ontario/Manitoba), Sturgeon-Weir (but from a more northerly start), and/or Churchill River (Missinipe to Pelican Narrows)
@@jjjpppggg1 Wow...sounds like a full slate of trips! Totally jealous. I'm doing a 2 week loop south of Sandy Bay.....hopefully in June. After that it depends on my time and commitments. Are you guys going to start at Sandy bay for the Sturgeon River or just on Mirond Lake?
@@puddlejumper-sk Well we won't be doing all those trip, but those are the ones we are looking at. If we do Sturgeon we would probably start at Mirond Lake.
Another great video, to bad about the bear.
Well hopefully that is the first and last time we have to deal with that.
Awesome trip, great video!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Awesome, seems like paddling in a burnt out area is the rule not the exception in northern Sask lately. Never been on this route, always wondered about it, so I really appreciate the post. Cheers
It is a nice easy route if you are will to put in the work to portage. We took our time, the trip can be done in a shorter length of time. This route contains the second largest pictograph site in Saskatchewan, with some being green. When will we see another Puddle Jumper video?
@@jjjpppggg1 I was hoping for early December but I got "the flu". So it will probably be early January before I start releasing. Have three individual trips that should be coming out this winter. A loop up at Starting at Davin Lake, A fishing trip to Nemei Lake and a trip into Cree Lake.
@@puddlejumper-sk looking forward to it!
This was so good to see
Wao beautiful ♥️
I've done this section! Loved it. Loved the vid too. Thanks for posting! Thought you had some very scenic shots. My only complaint...... would of loved to see more of the pink flamingo. If you've done this, the Pink River portages will be a pain, but totally doable. Hope there is more vids coming in the future! I'm subscribed just in case! Cheers!
I did your trip about 4 summers back. Glad we missed all the rain and record high water. Your footage brought back good memories - thanks.
Great video, very informative! Thank you!!
