Corris Railway
United Kingdom
Приєднався 7 лис 2020
The Corris Railway is a narrow gauge (2' 3") railway whose origins date back to the 1850's. The line was initially built as a horse-and-gravity-worked tramroad to carry slate from the quarries.
Corris Railway Southern Extension Feb 2024
Material has finally come available from the new Dyfi bridge site, and we have begun moving it to site and building up the height of the embankment once again.
We hope that this source of material will last for several weeks and should get us much closer to the required height.
Longer video is in the works, but wanted to get this exciting news out as soon as possible.

A day in the life of a little train on the Corris Railway
Переглядів 3,1 тис.2 роки тому
An example of the types of things that our little steam loco gets up to in a normal day at the Corris Railway. The railway is entirely run by volunteers, and like all voluntary organisations, we need your help. Please consider volunteering, details on our website here: www.corris.co.uk/volunteering-on-the-corris-railway/
Corris Railway Number 10 first steam
Переглядів 9 тис.2 роки тому
Corris Railway Number 10 is a modern reproduction of the original 3 Falcon locomotives which were built and delivered to the railway in 1878. Number 3 still survives but was bought by the Talyllyn railway in 1951, where she still works to this day. We are building Number 10 to supplement our small fleet of locos, and to provide relief for our other steam loco, Number 7, which is coming up to it...

Apologies, but real life took over for a while. I was able to film a few bits here and there, but had no time to sit down and edit anything. Anyhow, here is some of my drone footage of the unloading of Number 4 when she visited Maespoeth. Visit www.corris.co.uk/ Music: Tupelo Train - Chris Haugen from the UA-cam library.

Hot from the workshops, the frames and workings of Corris Number 10 loco running on compressed air. Please give generously to ensure that we can finish building this locomotive soon, and have it running on steam on the Corris Railway. www.corris.co.uk/

No9 2 plank trip March 2021
Переглядів 2,1 тис.3 роки тому
At the end of a day's work getting the line ready for re-opening, we took a trip up to Corris from Maespoeth to close the gates and tidy up. This was done with Number 9, the battery electric loco and the two plank waggon that has been rebuilt during this year and returned to service. Filmed at about 4:30 in the afternoon, the sun had gone behind the hillside from where the railway runs, so we w...

More shorts would be nice
No update videos since Feb? whats the latest, saw a new channel was created for June 15 Gala Updates, uploads and updates appreciated, thanks
Great to see the expansion plans. It’s a shame it cannot go the other way up the valley to the works past the old church and my brothers old house ( Pandy ). Keep up the great work , will have to visit when down. 👍
Good to see a bit more progress being made. Hope to see more on this.
good to see
Thanks for the update. It is great to see this work progressing.
To Machynlleth and beyond!!!!
To Top Corris and beyond!! Am I the only one a tad disappointed that new A487 road bridge doesn't appear to make passive provision for a reinstated line?
@howardrisby9621 I thought it would have too. I'm only in Porthmadog.
We'll just lay track over the millennium footbridge, that's built on the railway bridge abutment. JOKING obviously.
Well done but the trackbed does look more suitable for standard gauge.
Don't forget that the valley side of the embankment is tapering, i.e. the higher it goes the narrower it will get.
Thank you for sharing the update!
OOO this semes intresting i hope i can go one day as lasttime i was in wails there wasent time to go.
Great to see the progress 👍
I suppose One minute is better than nothing
If the society is desperate enough they might even go as far as to build a meter high viaduct on top of this brand new trackbed if there's only lumber available. It wouldn't be that bad of an idea right?
Ever seen piccies of the original Dovey Bridge? It was a timber trestle and lasted until 1907.
Fantastic to see this coming along 👍🏻
Would be glad if there was a update on corris railway once a year.
When will you do the next update?
The traverser might be unique on a passenger railway in the UK.
Was just watching Lawrie's video of the track laying 👍
Corris from thomas
Hiya would you be able to film an update on the extension?
I can’t wait to see this new loco! It’ll be great to see a classic Corris shape where it originated.
No filter
I realllly want to work here so bad!
What livery you want to Paint the Engine? But plz be a dark blue
Nadolig Llawen a chi o Caerdydd! 🚄
Rydw I cymreag
I have a feeling you lads will be getting a Hughes Falson as a gift!
I did not know that elves said "Ho! Ho! Ho!" see you in the Spring.
Corris Railway in the snow and an elf going ho-ho-ho! Magical stuff! 😀
þrðmð§m 💯
Perhaps if Network Rail issued bow ties to all signal workers industrial relations might improve?
Notice your ballast train appears to be unfitted - do you have the use of a brake van or are all your freight services within the braking capacity of the loco? \m/
We do have a brake van, which can be used as the southmost vehicle unless the loco is doing that. That ballast train is within the capacity of that loco, yes. Heavier ballast trains, or ballast trains on steeper grades will use the larger diesel No 11.
I'd love to see a video on the progress of No.10.
Never overlook a little engine!
Little ones are really useful to
You have done an amazing job with the build.
Its a neat video but I don't think you should call Edward Thomas by its number it does have a name.
This is a Corris video, the names are post Corris, and Corris railway refer to Corris loco numbers. TR are welcome to call them by names, but they are still, and always will be Corris 3 and 4. It is one of the idiosyncrasies that the Corris didn't name their locos, and we continue that tradition here on the Corris channel.
I'm fine with the fact there not named on the corris, but Sir Haydn and Edward Thomas aren't Corris engines anymore there Talyllyn so just don't try to turn back the clock they have names now so please just respect there names.
It looks like Falcon and Sir Handel from the Railway Series books
Wow, first a new build Tatoo, but Now a newbuild Falcon
SIR HAYDEN SIR HANDEL
And PROTEUS
What a cute little engine.
It's great to see this little engine running!
You know, I watched Thomas the Tank Engine and I always thought the trains were exaggerated but it turns out they are extremely close to the real thing.
ayo what happened to sir handle
hmmm it looks familoar hmmmm I WONDER WHAT IT COULD BE
The Corris was *dead* - an ex-railway. Closed, kaput, track ripped up, stock sold off, bye-bye. And now look.
Very nice! Sir Haydn's got a brand-new sibling now!
Yep! Maybe they can have a reunion
Is that white primer? It looks like a ghost! :)
When can we expect the engines completion and transportation to Corris?
Sir Handel in real
Omg
Imagine if they had day out with Thomas events and use the corris as the Mid-Sodor?
