Ty so much. This was so helpful as an apprentice instructor still going thru it and just started practice teaching this is so helpful. Especially not needing to do an hour at a time. I started teaching friends who I know will give me feedback and my hour classes are about 1 hr 30 minutes lol I have to work on getting to a 50 minute class 😊Ty Soo much ❤

I'm writing from Malaysia. I am keen to learn and teach pilates, but the ones available in malaysia is limited and they are so expensive! They are going for at least usd4-5k, excluding more ++ for exams or whatever else....i feel that it is a rip off for education? Also i wanted to go for some BASI, classical and STOTTS classes to have a feel of what their methods are, but I'm not allowed to go for group lessons....again i can only go for private lessons which are so expensive! Help, please someone share their experiences with me and is this common practice?? Thank you.

I thoroughly listened to all your ideas and it is so interesting! I live in Seoul, we have a very different industry market. Most of the Pilates are hired by the studio owners and get paid hourly within an agreed hour fee. I am curious where you live! It must be different in where you live. 😮

****** Please look at your local community college for teacher certification***** Ex: My local community college. Is offering a price of $686 for program. This includes knowledge of Mat, Reformer, Auxiliary, Cadillac, and Chair. Based on your income, certification could be free by signing up for a fee waiver. Making all classes Free to you 🎉

Hi, thank you so much for your informational video ! I am considering in training to be a Pilates instructor while also studying in college. Do you know anyone who’s done both? I haven’t found any online videos so I am wondering if it’s possible. My ultimate plan is to become a PT and I was thinking of Pilates to be a side job (on the weekends) while I study pt school and then hopefully I can marry them both once I graduate pt school. Do you know of anyone with a similar path?

I know I'm like 4 years too late lol, but I enrolled in mat certification and hope to eventually get my reformer. But due to the money, working full time and being a mom I wanted to wait before diving into the full certification for at least a year or so. Especially due to how intense the hours are increased plus how it is very costly. Also gives me a chance to get in as a sub for mat classes and gain more experience. So to hear you say if you could do it again you would wait before entering into comprehensive makes me feel so much better about the decision to wait a bit. Thank you for the video very honest and informative .

Basically profit oriented industry As everyone has bills to pay I do pilates for fun and health… i am retired…. have enough money to live modestly- i did a comprehensive course to understand the movements and the major piiates tools- i actually learnt heaps from the online teaching videos from USA but little benefit from the workshop in my own country- wasting time- an instructor spent 1-2 hours telling us his skiing holidays in Europe

Wow, I have just found you randomly. So sad but so true. I did a full comprehensive program and I am so disappointed about it. I have spent £5000 and I still did not get any certificate because I don’t feel confident enough to give the 3 exams. I almost feel like I have just wasted money and time also I feel kind of robbed to some instances. Anyway I don’t know even if I will ever be able to teach.

This person is not meant for teaching. She is still waffling 3 mins in. She needs a short sharp clear introduction and she needs to be more disciplined in her delivery. She's eeeh and umm..... and her speech inflections are consistantly wavy and difficult to understand. She puts a focus on herself and forgets that this is for an audience. She says that she got negative feedback - well - I think that she needed to work out that critical words are needed sometimes. Also, "people in studies don't care what certification you have" is a massive generalization. It's disrespectful.

Alex, thank you for clarifying this. I totally agree with your values and your concepts! I absolutely agree with what you're talking about in thisi video and have a good insight of the education facility you are talking about. The formula I teach creates transformations over and over again. My clients come to be because they have had enough of false information on social media and online. They come from overwhelm, not happy working for someone else, not managing to get by and living paycheck to paycheck. I offer them the possibility to gain a new skill in helping others, which not only gives them personal satisfaction but offers them a very healthy and profitable lifestyle. My students are fully comprehensively trained under the Romana Krysanowska and Lolita San Migeul's lineage. Pilates teachers have struggled over the past couple of years, but I have seen a huge influx of people wanting to become teachers and run their own business because they want to be independent! I'm loving what I do and I thank all my teachers and my previous accountancy background for the skills I can pass on to these people! Sending you love and light!!!

Alex, my goodness what a topic you hit in this video! You give sound advice and great to see you built your explanation from the ground up. Absolutely, figure out your break even point to figure out how much you need to be making annually then hourly. Teacher rates vary from town to town, county to county and state to state but there are ways of standardising your Pilates teaching rate. Should you be working for a studio, should you own your own business and open up your own studio? All these answers vary on how you plan to work. I hear your concepts and use a similar structure when I coach my students to become certified Pilates teachers and run their own businesses. The formula I teach creates transformations over and over again. I really wished I had watched this video before I picked a program. I thought I asked enough questions but there was sooooo much they didn’t tell me about requirements to pass the cert exam and the amount of self teaching I would have to do, lack of support for a place to use equipment to get teaching hours in, the crazy amount of anatomy and postural analysis requirements, and all of the extra fees for books and exam fees
