He can definitely do some damage. Although this does have to be completely in the corner as well, so it’s fairly limited.
@@ZachHenke same goes to Juri and cammy. Both does some damage but both are corners pressures monsters. So that’s includes Terry as well.
One meter efficient route you can do on the counterhit cr. LP into st. MP (after the dash up st. MK) is going into light tackle and doing Burn Knuckle instead. Interesting logic behind some of your routing choices though! It's good to learn some new ways to streamline Terry's game plan while throwing in as much dirt and knowledge checks as possible.

Dee Jay has tons of max damage punishes that require this. Not just because of Drive bar, also due to the reduced pushback. It's only really practical for SA punishes, because doing parry on someone else's wakeup expecting a DP is one HELL of a hard read. lol
That’s cool to know. As a Marisa player all my max damage punishes start with charged heavies, so I had never really thought about how these routes could matter. It can work on DP if you’re doing parry OS on a safe jump and they try to DP it.
@@ZachHenke I forgot about the safe jump OS. I tried learning with Terry since his safe jump setup midscreen leaves him pretty far if they backroll. You can still get a safe jump and OS the reversal with parry or get a DR to extend the combo/pressure if they get hit. It was above my execution level to pull consistently. Actually, I need to bind parry to a better button because I feel like I use it too little.
I found a foolproof easy route to dump both drive and super meter that works anywhere on the screen. St. MP > OD burn knuckle > lvl 2 super with both follow ups Deals over 5000 dmg, around 5350~ish IIRC, (thanks to négligeable scaling) while being much simpler of a route and also being easier to initiate since I often find myself failing to connect st.HP with whiffed DPs at a distance The caveat being that it's only good if you want to spend the lvl 2 with follow-ups, otherwise it deals poor damage

There is another trick you can do to use half drive meter on a rush. If you hit forward forward then parry quickly after. the rush comes out but not the parry, saving the drive cost of the parry. It might also work to hit forward, then parry and the 2nd forward at the same time.
I know this makes it come out faster, but I didn’t think it saved drive.

It’s not uncommon, but the characters I’ve played haven’t really needed to parry supers. It’s mostly been a thing that was good to do, but not necessary. Here it costs 200 damage if you don’t have CA.

Busting combo myths like it's 1999
You also need to give a piece of topical info in your titles. Like this one would be "Terry max damage combo"

in this situation if it's a corner dp punish I usually try for PDR PC 2HP xx 236HP 5MP DRC 2HP xx 236HK xx 236HP PDR 2HP xx 236MK 214214P~PP~PP for 6630. Should work as long as you have at least 5.01 meter after blocking the dp. A second complication for dp punishes is if you don't shove them enough into the corner getting the OD round wave can be hard anyway
I’m a fan of starting with OD burn knuckle if they’re not 100% in the corner.
Replace the MP with cHP and it does 6710 (doesn't work against all characters, Ken's OD DP pushes you out too far)
@@ZachHenkelooks like the route you are talking about (214PP>236HK>236HP>DR>cHP>236MK>geyser time) does 6174, respectable but still less, though probably easier to land in most situations. (Edit: ended the same combo with OD crack shot into dp>lvl 3, 6202 CA version does 6452, good damage and you don't burn out) speaking of burn knuckle: DR>HP>236HP>cHP>236PP>MP>214PP>geyser, etc is 6660, the forbidden combo. Easy combo for almost as much damage, it costs SLIGHTLY less meter so you can use it if you have less than 5 bars after blocking. I think this is a good middle ground between your combo and shade's. That .01 meter can be a killer in a lot of situations, so I think having other routes is important, though that one is clearly quite good.
The OD Knuckle combo I’m talking about is 214 HP+MP > 236 HK > 236HP > DR 2HP >214 MK > 214 LP+MP > Geyser. It does 6488 and it works quite far from the corner.

How are you getting +8 frames on DR H punch? I can only get +6 and that's on both the first and second hit. Ty.
The setup of DR 5HP hits on a later active frame and that adds advantage.

Hey Zach, could you not simply do 2LK after drive rush? To bait out someone spamming ODDP or any Supers, I think it works very well in lower levels since its a true block string
So this can work, but the trick is that they get hit if they ever stop crouching. I probably should have covered it, but if people are mashing with the crouch DP input their reversal won’t come out, so it’s really just a check to see if they know how to do the crouch DP method.
@@ZachHenke If they get hit you get OKI with 2LK, 2LP + 214LP - If they parry they only get a light kick - if they DI you can DI back - if they jump you can block / react with 214ODP. It's just the safest option of the bunch IMO, could be wrong here tis just my experience
@@asasjkk If you’re doing DRC 2LK the only thing that can happen is they get hit or they block it. It’s a block string. If you aren’t delaying the button they are stuck in blockstun. Now, if they stop crouching they’ll get hit by it, but they are incapable of doing any other option.

@@JorelTheHumbled Yes. I think routing into either H DP or M Knuckle is a great alternative to spending meter in that situation.
I know this is an old vid, but it feels good to see you struggle with cancelling B.HP to superman punch. It is so annoying to do it from command normals. I swear I get gladius 95% of the time. I am lazy now and usually drive rush c.MP into superman punch after heavy slam as I never drop this input.

If the opponent blocks MP~MP~Gladius and then does 2MK DRC, they're getting close to burnout and worst case scenario Marisa gets thrown (or you spend 2 bars for a Drive Reversal since you'll be expecting the 2MK). I would take that trade every time unless maybe the first throw will corner me One thing I've seen Marisas do is just 5MP~MP into nothing, especially against characters without a fast reversal. Unless the opponent can quickly react to No Cancel vs. Gladius Cancel, it's pretty effective at baiting parry or slower Supers (for example, Kimberly can't do anything except SA3 to punish both options).
MP TC is -8 on block, so it’s again, a pretty casino type read to make if you think they’re going attempt to perfect parry. And they don’t have to do 2MK DRC, but they can is my point. They can do whatever cancel they want, and while midscreen throw oki isn’t super scary it certainly can be for Marisa IMO since she pretty much has to eat it.

Yeah, I wish it didn’t do that. People will hold up at -2 if they know you’re mashing 5MP. Feels very silly.
Im not even gonna lie the 5mp tc and gladius/superman punch are like 90% of my offense.. the rest is a very rare 2mp dr command grab and charge hp on knockdown, some matches i try around with 5hk. What can I do on offense? I struggle to make anything else work really, and im slowly starting to meet players who can deal with the 5mp tc

@@manuelito1233 i strugglee making 6mp work and hk whiff punishing is something i try sometimes. and 5mp tc drive rush into save stuff for reversal bait is neat but expensive so im kinda cautious about using it

Fun fact, Akuma has A EX DP os where if Marisa commits to any option other than super or dr cancel lp the dp will blow her up, because for some godforsaken reason Akuma has the only 3 hit DP on armour. I hate him.
It is possible to release the OD gladius version early so it at least trades with akumas OD DP

If she doesn't drive rush cancel after medium punches, just parry. If she does cancel, drive reverse. The only thing she can do is super the drive reverse, which sounds insane to do most of the time. Am I missing something?
The level one against drive reversal after drive rush cancel is actually a reaction from Marisa. Although she can’t have committed to something else.
@@ZachHenke I guess I just don't have this type of reaction. But even if I did, is it really worth it? The oki after the supers are not amazing and the whole interaction spends 3 bars and some super bar from Marisa. I'm just kinda sad that this whole mixup loses to the simple strategy I commented (except using super on reaction). A simple poison/bomb (from other characthers) is way more dangerous.

I just don’t play much ranked. Most of my time with the game is in training mode trying to figure out what content I can make.
