AUDI 3.0TFSI SUPERCHARGED NOT SO COMMON CAUSE OF OVERHEATING
So no need for dyno anymore?
Still helpful with the ignition tuning but as far as setting up the VE map it’s not really necessary
With the linkage on the left hand side, do I have to disassemble the shifter to get it to attach to the hook? I’ve noticed on mine that the hook is really close to the wall of the shifter so I can’t see how it goes on with taking it apart
That’s how it moves one of the shift cables, I believe those little ball joint connections will pop off and on to service it but shouldn’t be required to adjust it
how do you tell which side cv it is (which inner joint half-shaft)?
That’s where it can get tricky without lifting the car up youre going have to kind of drive it around and see which side seems the loudest
@@EuropeanAutoRepair the shaking is very evident and gets really bad uphill, but there is no direction where it is coming from distinctly. i feel it even under my feet. but passenger tells me it is shaking her seat as well. is it common to change both half-shafts at once (as my mechanic is trying to convince me without even seeing the car from underneath)? can they wear out at the same time?
@rasto007 it’s possible for that to be true but likely one is more responsible for the vibration than the other, I would absolutely look at it before ordering parts or quoting any repairs
This is the only e70 video on YT that shows you how to actually remove the cable end from the brake assembly. Everyone else seems to unscrewed/unlatch the cables from the module instead of replacing everything. Thank you!
You didn’t even replace the thermostat like the video title is called.
Sorry man! Really let you down. Hopefully somebody else made a better video. Happy thanksgiving!
@ tried. No one comes close to what I need to replace my thermostat in my 2012 Volkswagen jetta
Are you replacing the whole assembly or just the cover and the thermostat?
@@EuropeanAutoRepair just the thermostat. Im still not 100% sure i know where the housing is located
@aegongomez9248 in the video I point to the thermostat and say “this it the thermostat” just get a t30 torx bit and undo the 2 screws holding that cover on, after that you can just pull it straight out of there
amen
thanks for this! nailed it
Hey Mr. Hope you're doing well. My BMW X5 xDrive 35i 2017 is doing a similar Noise when Auto Start/Stop is on or Eco Mode is on. When I'm at Low speed and the car is about to stop it makes a similar Noise. It didn't happen if I accelerate or drive normally. Do you have a clue of whats going on?
Sounds like you likely have a pcv valve issue, with the e engine at idle it is difficult to remove the oil filler cap? If so you may need to replace your valve cover assembly
Heck at that point I’d probably do coils and plugs of the coils have already had a few issues.
Wow, that's wild for a 5 year old car. There's no easy way to replace that bearing from what I've seen. Update would be appreciated.
I ended up loosing the 2 bearing carrier bolts and repositioning it a little bit and couldn’t get it to make the noise again after a few test drive cycles, yeah definitely not a easy replacement on those
@EuropeanAutoRepair Nice fix.
Hey I have question about a leak in my 2013 Audi s4. Leaking thru the bottom looks like an upper timing cover leaking but how can I tell if it’s a rear main seal? If there is a rear main seal as well I’d like to just sell the car and not put any money into it. You can contact me on Facebook or instagram, I can show you videos and pictures I have. Thanks!
It’s not likely a rear main seal at all. Very commonly misdiagnosed issue with those cars, more likely if it’s coming from the bellhousing area on the 3.0 supercharged engine it’s a oil filter housing assembly that’s leaking
In the case where its the tyres? Does it mean they are bad?
Often they are noisy and not an issue other than a annoyance
@EuropeanAutoRepair thanks for your response. I just got two rear tyres, had them fitted & balanced. Heard the noise today and was thinking it was the bearings. Does tyre rotation reduce the noise?
@chabbsmc usually won’t resolve it from what I’ve seen, you won’t hurt anything trying to
@@EuropeanAutoRepair thanks. I guess I'll just work with it till I change the tyres
It’s more common than you would think it is. People who put straight up water in the coolant system can cause the cylinder head. I own the same car and it had the same problem on a cold start. I did replace the head block as well as the thermostat. Never run the 1.8t on water especially in the winter.
Very nice interior.
Good info , Question? A4 b8.5 2.0 TFSI Get New fuel pump and I clean the carb out of it Throttle clean Mainfold Clean New fuel injector and runs 50/50 The feeling of fails it's when u get gas on it and clogks and looss instant presurre but the code say it's Grater fuel pressure on the Rail and Sensor , What should star to fixing it my self? Please and I appreciate anyone who answer me thanks people ❤
Thank you for this video! It is a reminder to all of us to follow the maintenance on our plugs.
Thank you for watching! Appreciate it man
Man, just had a small drop puddle under the 2013 s4 this morn, 120k on it. It appears like it's under this. But also it seems like its on the opposite side as well kids leaking down. I camt see from where on the other side. But it does look like it's got a spot just like this here. Would this also leak down the bell housing and drip down the opposite side as well? It started with a drip on the filter side, then this morn two spots one on each side. Under filter side. And direct opposite of filter side. Thanks so much
Hello, I saw your video about the Porsche Panamera with high wistin noise while idel and pulling high vac on the oil fill plug. I have a 2016 4 edition it have the 3.6 L V6 engine. I have changed the oil seaperter. but it think its the same thing as the Vent Valve. It still makes a little bit noise. Please help me with this thank you so much
I haven’t seen that caused from anything other than the pcv diaphragm on that model, I’ve had problems with some aftermarket brands in the past
Yeah except when the one time clamp breaks they expect you to buy a new part just to get that one time clamp. It's bs
I agree!
It’s not difficult but seems complicated, thank you
Can anyone tell me if this could be the reason for the below symptom? When i drive the car for over an hour and when i stop at the light, engine stutters a little bit and the rpm meter fluctuates. It feels like the car will stop and the stuttering will increase the longer the engine is idling. There’s also lot of smoke even when the engine is idling As soon as i start driving again it’s all normal, just like a car in mint condition. No smoke, no issues. I stop the engine after driving for over an hour and start again, i have the push the gas so much for the engine to start running. If I leave the car overnight, and push the start button, boom…. Brand new audi! All these issues start only after driving for over 30 mins or an hour
Thanks, that saved me money.
This is the best example of tire noise. Thank you for this video and direct explanation.
this isnt a 272 its a 276
Honda bond HT. Thank me later.
I’ve only had my car for a few months, finally decided to put a new one in… found out this entire time it didn’t even have one in there. Whoever had this car before took out the old one and didn’t replace it lol🤦♂️
Well if you have allergies you should notice an improvement with that for sure. Strange that someone would get rid of that
My passanger side actuator failed. I have a 2012 vw 2.5 passat and I changed heater core. But it looked fine when I cut it open. Still didn't work. So I found there are 2 actuators driver side worked, passanger side didn't. So I pulled it out and moved lever manually, works great now
Yeah those actuators are problematic, I like to do a output test on all the actuators and scan the hvac before getting into it usually
Thanks I'll try this😊
Raise the car. Hold the coil spring with one hand and rotate the wheel with the other hand. If you feel vibration/ roughness through the spring, the bearing has failed or close to failing. Try the opposite side with no issues, and you'll feel the difference immediately!
Cool diag method! I’ll try that one
I’ve got the 1.4tfsi and the water pumps at the back of the engine. Looks like a case of removing the plastics etc and the windor wiper motors maybe to pull it out the back.
my 2016 vw tiguan the turbo failed in a really weird way the v band that holds the cold and hot side together snapped at 118k miles i am replacing the whole assembly cause its gonna have this issue soon
I’ve seen that before! If you get lucky you can replace that vband and be ok, sometimes it damages the turbine and housing tho
Informative video, what kind of strap do you get to tie the transmission down. Thanks
I just used a 2in standard ratchet strap
Thank you very much !! I was have exact the same problem but don’t was burn . I make only with air and now is working 👍
My service manual shows a baffle plate mounted between the engine head and the oil filter adapter. I don't seem to have that, but I am not the first person in there - a shop replaced this housing a few years ago and perhaps left it off? Can anyone provide some insight? By the way, the first replacement housing was a Febi that lasted about 3 years before starting to leak. I noticed the leak shortly after an oil change which seems to make sense after hearing your comments about applying tourque to remove the filter housing. I'm going with a replacement oil filter adapter off the dealer shelf.
I have issues shifting into first gear while car is moving. When car is idle there no issue
Sounds like a likely first gear syncronizer issue
My 325i sufffered this problem, both of the nuts on the flange had rusted off and the car sounded like a lawnmower. I took the car to a shop to get it fixed and they just welded it shut for the time being and said that i need new catalytic converters from the manifold to the flange and they cost over 1000 euros. And i dont believe them. I just feel like they don't want to do this job and rather replace the whole pipe. I will take the car somewhere else and see what they say.
I do my drivers every 3-4K, race cars are every 6 months regardless of miles.
Yeah that’s about how I treat my track car too
I had the same issue with my vw polo i tried cleaning the throttle body but the eorror pops up after few miles😢
What engine does that polo have?
I have the same exact problem right after I changed to winter tires. It was a tire I havent used before and the mechanic said its wheel bearing. The symptoms especially the Wua Wua sound at decel makes me think its the tires. Is it something mechanics can misdiagnose? And to add to that, my Tire Pressure sensor came up with the tire change but the pressure is good. They said I also need to change the sensors. Im just not buying it….
If it started with the tire swap definitely suspect a tire noise, mechanics get it wrong and replace wheel bearings very very often because of this, the best way to diagnose is to lift the car on a hoist and listen to the hubs with a stethoscope underneath with someone in the car keeping the wheels turning
I daily my 2017 370Z which gets religious 3,000 mile oil changes with full synthetic oil. It's shocking how many people will gamble with a $10,000+ engine to save a couple hundred dollars per year. The penny wise and dollar foolish types of people will all learn the hard way sooner or later.
the PCV/breather on the 2.0 works in a very complicate way. you can not use aftermarket--totally agree. when the car is at idle there is negative pressure/vacuum at the intake and when the boost from the turbo is active around 2k rpms then there is positive pressure at the intake at which point the hose from the intake to the breather is closed off and the engine is vented through the other pipe of the breather which goes to the turbo suction line. therefore at any given rpm there is sufficient vacuum/negative pressure in the crankcase. Nice job. I just subscribed. We can all learn from each other.
Thanks man I appreciate that! Pretty cool system if it just held together a little better!
I've replaced hub assembly on my vehicle and still have noise. It occurs at 70mph or above and noise changes when I load steering. Tires maybe?
Awesome thanks
What if both sides of the valve are cold? Same Audi A4 B9 issue
Is the engine coming up to temperature? And cooling system malfunction faults stored?
@ yes the engine is coming up to temp, only after some time both sides are hot
Ask yourself this.... Does the manufacturer want your car to last a lifetime so you'll never be back for another one? 🧐
i changed my tires cs i bought it with pretty old tires but it still does it. i changed my bearing cause it actually WAS worn out, but idk what the problem is now. idk if it’s the suspension, rotors or what🤦🏽♀️ but it’s only on highways i hear it
i only hear it at high speed tho… when i’m going like 50km it’s smooth
What if the noise pulsates, no shake in the wheel or vibration, and gets loud at 40/50/70 mph? 😭 It isn't consistent either. Just get a really loud when I let off the gas aroud those speeds but is not as loud as other speeds. I also can't hear it as much when I slow down
my mk6 golf gtd is soaked at front bottom think its filter as well
Hello. I have a question. Can it be, a stupid "mechanic" while changing oil filter , squeezing so hard and cause damage to oil cooler? Thanks.
I don’t think I’ve ever see that
