Make Everyday Meals Tastier with Simple Umami Tricks🍳
▼About Umami Mom
Hi there! I'm a Japanese working mom living in Canada.
I share easy tricks to add umami - the savory flavor that makes food taste even better.
My 2-year-old, Yui-chan, used to be a picky eater, but ever since I started using more "umami," she eats almost everything (she still sometimes refuses to eat depending on her mood, though 😅).
I would be happy if my videos could help someone looking for kid-friendly meal ideas.
Thanks for stopping by, and I hope you enjoy!

I’m so glad this video popped into my feed. I never thought about using parchment paper in my instant pot, and would never have thought of adding seaweed to my mashed potatoes! I had no idea you could do noodles in an instant pot without them turning to mush. But my favorite part was the karaoke song revised for busy moms, “ I do wanna close my eyes, I do wanna fall asleep”. So relatable!

Your kiddo is adorable! Love her exclamations 😄. I felt envious watching her shovel food so eagerly into her mouths. Neither of my two little ones are ever that enthusiastic about food, sometimes it feels like we aren’t related because I am so obsessed with food. Thank you for your ideas ❤

@@umami_momYour recipes look amazing and I definitely want to try them, but can I just add a word of caution? Baking sheets/parchment paper are known to release toxic chemicals (PFAS) into food when heated. Even “eco-friendly” ones coated with silicon were found to leach siloxanes. My comment is not to criticize but just a suggestion for research.

Hi! I often use Hakutsuru, which you can easily find at liquor stores. Asian supermarkets also sell cooking sake, but I personally recommend using regular sake instead. Cooking sake often has added salt and other additives, which can make it harder to adjust the flavor. Hope this helps!

Might it be this song? It's a popular meme, my little guy only heard it once and started singing it all the time. ua-cam.com/users/shortsjw3jjN8kCyo?si=Xm2bXbR-VMi5OvDA He also likes sour flavors, even more than chocolate! So cool that you can make so many different things with a silicone bag, everything looks oishii!

Thank you so much for the comment and for sharing the link! 😊 It really sounds like what Yui-chan has been singing! It’s so funny that your little one started singing it after hearing it just once. Kids are amazing! 😄 Wow, he likes sour flavors more than chocolate? That’s awesome! 👏 Let me know if you have a favorite sour recipe❤️
