Vietnam definitely have a great cafe culture. Their coffees can be dessert like egg coffee or coconut ice cream coffee, or morning eye opener like cafe sua da, or thirst quencher like the one you guys had. And we're not even talking about their distinct exterior and interior decor or even the low cost. I'm surprised your boyfriend has no problem with shrimp that had not had shell removed yet. Maybe you Canadians have no problem with shrimp with shell on. We Americans are pretty wimpy and miss out on fresh shrimp food in Asia because of this wimpy ass fear.

you right my friends, im Vietnamese and had a trip last time to Australia and there some Viet restaurants are really freaking good.. i traveled many countries like Korea, Taiwan, Japan etc but only in Australia Viet restaurants owner still keep the authentic Vietnamese cuisine not like other countries they try to mix things in order to please the locals , in Aus there're dishes that they do better than us in term of quantity ( bigger bowl, alot of meat, etc ) maybe its ur high living standard than ours 😄😄Glad that you enjoy our foods and hope you'll return to Vietnam one day ❤❤

Me (Swedish), my gf (came from Hanoi to Sweden at 4yo) When we went I were lucky to "only" fly for 15-16 hours + waiting some time for the connecting flight -but we flew Sweden->Paris->Hanoi (Same way home but London instead of Paris). We were a little more lucky as well because the food on the flights were good and the flight from Paris and to London had an "all drinks free" policy (including spirits) so one could say that you fell asleep faster. A heck of alot of shaking over the Black Sea and notices that the Russians were patroling so they took a route a little more to the south of west asia -but other than that all went fine. Started to travel at 3am and were in Hanoi about 1pm local time and after a nap when we got to the airbnb we were accually fine to explore the city (but slept in the day after). I understand the part about the comment about they try to oversell the bookings but we were in luck there as well. Not the traditional hard beds and everything went fine. If you guys were to go back to Hanoi, Nha Trang or Ho Chi Minh I have really good tips. :) Glad to ee that you liked the trip (saw the two food videos and just thought DAMN I WANT BACK!). But I wouldn't say that I miss tasting Tiết canh... too much taste of iron and liver. Have you guys ever tried it?

I’m going to guess that you’ll like Southern VNmese food better than Northern VNmese food since you mentioned liking VNmese food in Vancouver. Most of the VNmese food you find outside VN will be Southern style (sweeter, more veggies and herbs) since it was mostly southern VNmese that dispersed after the war.

5:00 shrimp on top of a bed of sweet potatoes and deep fried 6:23 the sourness is from the nem, fermented pork, and the “nuttiness” from the bì, pig skin mixed with toasted rice flour 10:00 snails are beer snacks, gotta down it with some cold beer! Good to see you guys trying everything without giving it second thought, you can’t go wrong with VNmese food.

You guys know what to eat 😀. Love to see you guys enjoy the food.
