Garden Railroad Plowing Snow Part 2
Friday night we received a couple of inches of snow and the lads of the Cape Cod Central RR were out clearing the Rail Road on Saturday. They did a fine job as we saw in the "Garden RailRoad Plowing Snow 12024" video. Saturday night we had a dusting of snow and the boys of the Bay Colony line wanted a chance to earn some overtime pay so they grabbed the wedge and took it for a run. There wasn't much snow so plowing wasn't a problem but the rails and switches were iced and that made for some terrible slipping and stalling out. This is a short video featuring their successes.

Garden Railroad Plowing Snow on 12024
Переглядів 5865 місяців тому
The Cape Cod Central RR received some plowable snow so the MOW crew hoped right on it. The boss suggested using our custom built blower car the "Rail Warrior" to clear the track and it was working well until we hit the deeper drifts but luckily the crew had brought along the wedge plow and after swapping it out the work continued. Once the line was cleared the guys grabbed the GP and headed bac...
LGB Christmas Train 2023
Переглядів 1396 місяців тому
My 2023 downsized Christmas train setup is a throwback to my first LGB set in 2006 that consisted of a circle of track, locomotive, 2 flat cars and a caboose. This humble beginning has expanded into the all consuming train hobby insanity! Ho Ho Ho ! Enjoy and Merry Christmas.

This is my biggest and most ambitious build to date and sometimes it works and other times... Well it doesn't help when I forget to reset an element or a marble doesn't cooperate as you shall see.
How to add a wood load to your G scale tender
Переглядів 2368 місяців тому
In this video I show how I added a real wood load to the tender of my Bachmann 2-8-0 Connie and then we take a ride a round the RR. In the video you may also notice that I added a spark arrestor to the stack, pin striping, some piping was touched up with a silver sharpie and all valve handles were painted red. There is also an air tank, made from a dowel added to the tender. The project was a q...
Ride on the MOW Train
Переглядів 2779 місяців тому
In this video we feature the first train of the day. It is the track cleaning MOW train with the custom built Railbroom and scrubber car. This fine piece of machinery throws leaves, twigs and anything else that has fallen on the track since the last time we ran trains off to the side. It works really well. The dripping water, roller and pads help to clean the track for my DC powered trains to r...
Top Secret Cargo on the Railroad
Переглядів 741Рік тому
On Saint Patrick's day the local newspaper was interviewing the Irish immigrants that built and manage the RR when what was supposed to be Top Secret cargo came through the yard. The journalist then grabbed his camera and followed this special train catching it at several spots along the main line but where was it going?
A Dunkin Donuts for the Garden Railroad
Переглядів 414Рік тому
There is a friendly contest on the Large Scale Central forum called the "Mik's Build Challenge" and the theme this year was to build something that could be found in a downtown. We have 30 days and up to $30 to build something that sticks with the theme and my choice was a Dunkin Donuts. The drive up window was designed to service train crews and passengers. I'm very pleased with my efforts.

A Ride on the Train

Take a ride on a train around my RR with a first ever run over the new diamond section and the Mountain route that is now open for the season. At the end stick around for a drone eye over view of the layout.
Gravitrax Gravy #12

Here is another video featuring the in and outs the ups and downs the tearing around of those little marbles on a wild Gravitrax setup. In this video we have lots of elements in action and I think the marble even catches some air over a jump. New to this setup is 2 homemade track sections glued together spanning 4 sections and a Gravitrax Lifter to keep the ball rolling to the finish. Enjoy!
Gravitrax on a Train #11

Here is a video that combines 2 of my hobbies, G scale Trains and Gravitrax. The video features a crazy twisting track that goes on, around, through and under the train but trains have a schedule to keep and this one is no different so stick around to the end to see what happens.
The Garden Railroad is Storm Damaged
Переглядів 7182 роки тому
We had a big storm come through the region on April 17/18 2022 and the Railroad was damaged by a falling tree limb. In this video we see the MOW crew attack the damage from both sides using cranes, bulldozers and brute strength. The line is cleared of debris and then the MOW returns to fix the trestle and replace the bent track. As usual a whacky crew of characters gets the job done.
The Mountain Route with a Reverse Loop
Переглядів 4302 роки тому
Here is a video of the Mountain route on my RR. It is part of the original layout that started in 2007 but it has been altered several times since then. The old tunnel collapsed and a bypass was put in until it could be rebuilt. The Mountain route is closed during the Winter. The latest alteration was to lengthen the isolated siding that makes up the Reverse Loop section. This video shows how i...

Brilliant video and layout. Well done
Thank you and Happy RRing!
Excellent follow up video..
Great camera work as always. 🏆
awesome. like bench works, track support. proves that snow removal is fun!
Did you custom paint those Cape cod Central engines yourself? They look incredible!
Thanks. Yes I did. It is a great looking scheme that I have adopted for a lot of my trains.
Really, really nice layout. Thoroughly enjoyed that ride and will be back for more. Blower is awesome.
Thanks!
I hope you get a dry snow next
This was as dry as it gets in these parts.
Plow works great! Glad to see you made it out running trains!
Thanks and Happy RRing!

Gotta love these plow extras ! Thanx for sharing!
You never disappoint. Happy 2024 sir.
Thanks and Happy RRing in 2024!
Lucky so far this winter. Are you a member of the Nauset club? I'm thinking about rejoining. It's been a decade since i left the club.
We have been lucky with the snow so far but lack of it will probably mean a drought in Summer. I am not a club member. I knew a couple of the founders but they only have the overhead for G. They do have some nice layouts in other scales but I'm a G guy.
@@CapeCodTrainTodd I have been HO scale for more than 50 years. Nice job on the snow removal. Thank you.
Outstanding job
Thanks 🙂
Now that's a railroad! Very lifelike!
Thanks ! Be sure to check some of my more recent train videos and you will see new equipment, buildings and a better track plan.
I like your switch tender at 18:39.
Yep, It's a hands on RR. 😄
What are the fancy roofs made from?
The tower roofs? I replaced 3 old tired lanterns on my house and thought the caps would make for an interesting feature on a future build for the RR and several years later they did. I have learned to always keep my eyes open for interesting junk.😁
@@CapeCodTrainTodd excellent idea
Merry Christmas Cape Cod Todd
Thanks and Happy New Year.
Nice n' Christmasy !
Merry Christmas CCTT. And a happy and healthy New Year to you and yours.
Thanks and Merry Christmas to you.
Great Holiday Layout...... Merry Christmas......
Thanks and Merry Christmas.
This came up right as I was building my Christmas train layout, good job
Thanks and Merry Christmas
Where’s that beautiful music?
Oh no. I don't know what happened to it. i just had a look and I suspect that the music that was once free to use without license from youtube has been removed from that free list. This has happened to a few of my other videos too. This is lousy because that music made the video feel magical.
Still here. Merry Christmas 🎁 🎄
Is it Christmas again already! Wow that was fast😉 Happy RRing and Merry Christmas.
Very admirably set my friend!!! Very detailed yet simple . Very awesomeness!!!!
Thanks. There have been many improvements since this video and the RR is much better now.
This would be perfect for my railway, im in bergen and i have an SM32 scale railway, however, the snow quickly turns to ice so what ive had to do up till this point is boil water and pour it on the rails to melt the ice and then get an engine (live steam) to push the rest of the snow out the way.
It is rare that we get the right kind of snow that my little trains can move and once it turns to ice, game over. I put together a shovel using a broom stick and a piece of azek, that is plastic trim that won't scratch the track like a metal shovel would. I slide this along the track and push the slush away to get the trains running again.
WOAH, this is amazing!
Thanks🙂
Goo gone will eat traction tires
I have been using goo gone like this for years and have not had an issue.
Very Kool.......
Amazing and so Fast !
Thanks. Too fast but it is tough to slow it down. 😁
This is beautiful! Grew up on the Cape and love to see these colors on locos & rolling stock again. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks. The CCCRR has a really nice paint scheme.🙂
You're a very talented and imaginative craftsman, Todd. The wood load looks so good.
Thank you🙂
The Connie is looking good! Gotta like the wood load! I kind of have the same idea to use Connie for 3 passenger cars. I do have to ask about your signature pinstripe. Is that tape or paint or decal? It looks so perfect! Lawrence at Pine Ridge RR
Thanks. The pinstripe is tape. This Connie was painted with white lines. My favorite RR is the Cape Cod Central and their scheme is a maroon black stripe and yellow striping. I have several diesels that are painted that way. My steam engines get the yellow stripping to help bring them into the family. Eventually I might letter the tender but for now a piece of black tape covers the WP&YR😁
Nice like the hobo
I really enjoyed seeing actual work being done just like on a real rail line. Thank you!
Yes. On this RR the trains do lots of actual work like hauling away twigs and other junk that falls from the trees. We also haul away leaves and weeds as seen in other videos on my channel and a couple of times we have even hauled real firewood from the pile down back to the wood stove. Happy RRing!
That lay out is bad ass!
Thanks. There have been improvements since this video so check out my most recent ride along video.
On my railway I’m currently building a galloping goose
Nice. 🙂
Thanks
Great to see you back won dered what had happened. Brilliant ride around thanks for sharing.
Thanks. I have been running trains all Summer and tinkering on the RR. i have been posting short videos to Facebook on the G scale trains page. I should put all those clips together to make a Summer 2023 movie.😁
Great train ride
Very Kool..... Thank You for Posting.....
Looks like some new track and buildings. Very nice. Thank you.
Yes, there have been some additions such as the switchback that I have been wanting to build for a while now but only recently found some affordable switches. Another reason I have not posted much is that my once Free video editor suddenly wasn't free so I have been trying off and on to find one that wasn't too simple nor complex. I'm making fun train videos not a full length feature. LOL
@@CapeCodTrainTodd A lot of work there my friend. Well done.
Been awhile. How have you been?
I've been well and you?
@@CapeCodTrainTodd I could be better. But at least I'm still on this side of the grass.
Great job on your outdoor train layout.......It looks pretty realistic for model trains.......I can remember getting my first set of American Flyer trains way back in 1948..........It had a smoking locomotive and it was one of the best XMAS presents I ever got....Kudos to you..
Thanks and Happy RRing!
Hello Tod hope all is well did you work for Edaville railroad ? We did some work on the layout years' ago ~
No I did not work at Edaville.
@@CapeCodTrainTodd We miss that area CC
Outstanding
Thank you. Be sure to check out my more recent train videos there have been lots of improvements.
Great switching operation, a railroad needs a purpose, also the snow sheds for the spruce limbs was a nice touch.
Thanks. Running roundy round is fun but sometimes having a purpose to drop cars off and pick them up at industries is fun too.
Are there sharks in there?
There could be because it is salt water but it is unlikely. On the Cape a good rule of thumb is if there are seals insight there is no doubt sharks nearby.
@CapeCodTrainTodd Thank you, I'm heading there next month for the first time. Looking for some ideal locations for kayaking, but convincing my wife will be tough if there could be sharks lol
@@listenup3955 There are plenty of freshwater lakes and ponds to explore without the worry of being caught oat at low tide. When we venture out into the bay we stick to shallow water when we can. The last outing we took was to the North beach island off Chatham. It is like another world out there. We had a seal that kept popping up right behind us and boy did that scare us because the area is protected but it is open ocean at both ends which means there could be Great Whites in there. There are plenty of estuaries and marshes to explore but do watch the tide.
@CapeCodTrainTodd Wow thats awesome, thanks for the reply

Modified LGB center depressed car?
Sort of. I used Bachmann pieces to scratch this and made a 12" deck for it. It is based on the one made by LGB.
