Replacing the Stocks on the Smart Fortwo
great video.
I first thought you where tiger woods
Lol😅
Thanks for demonstrating this.👍
You're welcome!
How did you fix the problem with the switch that doesn’t fit ??
Where did you purchase your holding block to keep the shaft of the shock from spinning so that you could take the top nut off?
Do i have to take the engine out to replace the front subframe on the cts ? Might be a stupid question , mine is cracked pretty badly and new at working on my vehicles instead of taking it to a shop😭
Your right. You don't have to remove the engine just the engine needs to be supported when removing the subframe.
@ thanks for the response 🙏 helps me big time. Wondering if I should take on this project or take it to a shop 😅
Any update on the rear noises you were hearing??
Yeah, no more noise it was said in other videos thank you again for watching
So after 3 years how has the Siberian bushing held up? I've seen a few reports that they start separating after several years.
It's been great. I may replace them on other element with siberian bushing
Very clean
How exactly and where should I support the engine from bottom when replacing the right engine mount? Should I also place a piece of wood in between jack and car? Sorry very new to fix my own car. 7:26
Why not show how the seal was actually pulled?
What's going on with the cts clone
Sold it
did you have any issue with the crank pulley/bolt making it a bit of an issue to get out or in?
No I didn't but sometimes I had to heat the bolt to get it off
I went with arp studs on a 1.25" hubcentric
I just ran into your channel n got damn you talk to much and so hella boring...
Any noticeable difference in ride quality?
Very good
@ByrdsRebuilds i have a 2010 CRV and the ride quality is absolutely terrible. I have changed the majority of the replacement parts but never the rear trailing arms and the bushings.
Why didnt you use the ball joint press kit to remove the buahings from the knuckle rather than burning or cutting them out?
I try to make work if someone don't have special tool
I have those Aerogenics springs on mine and they are awesome
Very good to hear
Walmart also has issues sending wrong part
I had same issue with Autozone giving me wrong windshield washer pump and arguing that their computer doesn’t lie. Well showed them the original part and the difference and they refunded me my money. Unbelievable
Wow that's crazy
By any chance do you have a video on replacing the mode door actuator(passenger side). I read that it is behind glove box which I took off but all I see is a bunch of wires🥹unfortunately I haven’t found any videos on the Element. Mine is an 04. I have Alpine components 6.5 up front with tweeters since around 2006 and Kicker’s 6.5 in rear. Pioneer 4200 NEX head unit which at some point I will replace when I get some money 💰 😀Always look forward to your videos
No but I need to replace the same thing on my orange element
@ mine just stopped working so you need do a video and quit fooling around with audio stuff 😀
Happy Thanksgiving 🦃
Happy Thanksgiving to you too!
I dropped mine but cross-threaded rear passenger a bolt. What solution do you recommend? Helix coil?
Yeah, that would be the best bet
@ thanks! Just wanted to make sure before i drilled and tapped.
Hi . What were the symptoms you were noticing ? My car has a graunchy knocking under acceleration. Torque trying to turn engine perhaps . And occasionally over bumps. Changing the bottom mount helped a little. Regardless your video much appreciated 👍🏻🇬🇧
For me, the engine was rocking a lot and I saw one them was very bad
Appreciate the reply. Turns out my top mounts are ok. So I have a knocking I can’t identify ! 🙁
Lots of people complaining about poly bushings creaking after a year or sometimes people say as fast as a few days or 5000 miles. I think you used the grease that came with the Siberian bushings right? People are saying use Energy Suspension Formula 5 Prelube Grease, but some say even that won't last. Others say wrap the metal sleeve with teflon tape first then apply the grease and that really works. Sounds like you've gone 3 years with no creaking. So I guess it doesn't happen to all of them.
A lot of people wonder about that so far. I had no problems, and yes, I did use the grease that came with it.
@@ByrdsRebuilds Thanks! Maybe Siberian is just better poly, I heard quality varies greatly.
Yeah i have another element in have to replace the brushes
@@ByrdsRebuilds Basically the same are: 2002-06 HONDA CRV / 2003-2011 HONDA ELEMENT
Great video thank you I’m gonna do this on my CRV. Question did all your squeaky creaking. Go away your old school bus noises?
Yes never had anymore issues
@@ByrdsRebuilds Yay. I am doing all the bushings front and rear, from the same place. $500 for all of them siberian bushing (CA) or durable.parts (US). Going to be using your methods, your video made me believe that I could do it. Thank you! So tired of the noises.
Awesome!
Nice job Mr Byrd. Sorry about your rude neighbors. Nice camera work.
Nice job!
Ty for the video. How are they holding up now that it’s been a few years?
It's been great I'm thinking about replacing all the bushings on my other element
@@ByrdsRebuildsThat is good to know, ty. I had seen a post/image online showing Siberian bushings dry-rotting/cracking (in a different car).
Should have shown how to remove the side clips without too much damage.
I built a bed platform almost identical to yours.
Sick
I want to Thank You, for telling us about the Adams Polish. I was using Armor All before and it's nice and shiny but too greasy. Also I was told my air conditioner pump was broke and they want $1000 to fix. Have any ideas, I can do most things that aren't too heavy thanks to UA-cam.
Hello thanks for watching also if you have to replace the ac pump you will have to lose the passager side engine mount and jack up the engine just a few inchs then you can remove the ac bolts
@ByrdsRebuilds Thank You, God Bless You
you got somewhat lucky that your bushing arm is sliced up open, the one i have had no access on the side like that, i had to bang and heat the thing for 1hr on each side to get them out. Also the differential emptied out of oil as soon i removed the axles, surprised your have not, only saw a little drip while you were installing it back.
Dang
Thanks for this video. Just did new differential seals and these mount bushings this morning. Mine fought me the whole way out, the underside of your Element is beautiful compared to my 2005 Cr-v here in Pennsylvania. I have to get it all back together tomorrow morning and go for a test drive and if all goes well I’ll pull the front apart to replace the front axles and lower ball joints and the compliance bushings.
Awesome I hope it will work perfectly for you.
Will a front bumper front an 06 EX fit on an 06 LX model?
Yes it will fit
i have this in real life
This looks exactly the same as my 2004 CR-V. I just got the bushings in and gonna do the job this weekend
Awesome I hope it goes easy for you
..probably you scratched a fender … fix one and damage another like a most car mechanics in US :(…. but don’t worry in a car manufacturer dealership service it’s always the same GM, Jeep, ….. sometimes the technician don’t know what they do….. it’s a very poor quality standard, on a car dealer service just one technician have a certificate all the rest walks around …..
Got any plans or dimensions for the cabinet? I would be willing to pay for a design.
No don't but I will get you some measurements 32.5W - 35H - 11.5D. The center Board 35H the right Board 35H and the left Board is 30H the one by the hatch
@@ByrdsRebuilds you da man gonna see what me and my dad can build.
15 bux is a steal! Looks great. Great job.
I HAVE A ELEMENT JUST LIKE YOUR, MY HAS A CLUNKING NOISES IN EVRE LITLE BUMP, I BELIVE IS THE BUSHING IN THE REAR BAR!
Yeah all elements at point as that problem
Hey as I am losing my hair can I use the adhesive promoter to attach a toupee in lieu of going to Bosely for a hair transplant 😅
Hopefully your surgery goes well.
Almost looks like that broken carbon that you see on them exotic cars
It's called forged carbon and no it does not.
I wanted these for my element until I saw they only come with a 3yr warranty. I chose powerflex instead with its lifetime warranty
Byrd, what type of steam cleaner is that ? Could you make a video of your “sanitation “ tools ?
Nice informative video! Thanks brotha, I just ordered struts so gonna be doing mine soon.
Don’t see a link to the upholstery dude
Right not yet until I get the seat back
Don’t cry 😢 man it’s only an air bag recall 😅
Lol 😅
