I've had my CDL A for 30 years. I started back in the 90s with mayflower transit. I was trained by Mayflower. Mayflower had skid pad training. You had to steer the tractor on a skid pad while wet and steer the tractor while skidding. They don't train like they used to. It's all about the "rapid" training of students and less with the actual fundamentals of driving

Why do people hate truckers? They are in the way and slow as crap. OTR drivers are slow and have no idea how to drive in town. I drive LTL and can’t stand the OTR drivers. They will drive through town at 15-25 mph no matter the speed limit loaded or not. I drive the speed limit in a loaded rig in town so the OTR drivers have no excuse. I could go on and on about how the OTR drivers are so slow. Watching a 10 year driver need 5 pull ups on a back in I can hit in 1 try in 15 seconds. Needing an extra lane to make a turn they could have made from there lane. Needing 45 min at a fuel up when I only need 15 min, fill up and move out. I honestly don’t consider OTR a skilled driving job anymore. Learn to move with a sense of purpose. Don’t be a dirty smelly driver and ware respectable cloths and real shoes. Don’t be that slob who crawls out of the truck like it was a bed. So why do people hate us? Pick one of a hundred reasons. Most of them are the drivers not the job.

That PA toll junction is horrible. Parking is so slim. They understand truckers make money but the cost isn't looked at anymore. Not what it use to be.

You are absolutely right Driver. When I was OTR I had to use Pilot/ Flying J . The damn "prime parking" ranges from $14 to $25 a night. I was a company driver, why the hell am I paying for someone else's equipment. I never understood that. Also these truck stops are "rip offs". Everything from food to showers are high and overpriced. These truck stops are ridiculous in price. Parking is non existent in the north east

So you feel entitled to use the property of others for free? It’s not a truck stop, it’s a travel center. How many drivers park where they don’t fuel, buy groceries, or meals? We, as truck drivers feel entitled to free parking, free showers, free trash, free bathrooms…. Socialism is great unless it’s your property being used for free.

I totally understand, but from a business perspective, parking is pretty much pure profit very little overhead. that doesn’t make it right, but I will tell you this if it was me I would charge right around the same simply because my employees have to pick up human waste trash, especially from the flip-flop generation

Every youtube company review - 3 months or less the company is great, they're the best yada yada. Read the comments a month or 2 after that and get the "I'm not with them anymore". Moral of the story is don't rely on the youtube job hoppers.

I want to say thank you for deciding to stay in this industry and out up with the BS that these companies pit on you. I needed a break and im returning to what I used to do in my prior life. Yet, I miss trucking and want to return as an owner operator. Im still undecided

I retired from the federal government and then went into tractor trailer driving. I've had my CDL for thirty years. I drove for six years. I left the trucking industry because of the unethical, unsanitary, disorganized, mismanaged industry. I have seen things in this industry that are disrespectful and unlawful. I'm still deciding whether or not to return.

I never understood why as a "company driver" I was always liable to find and pay for parking for equipment that I didn't even own. I could see if I owned the equipment, then yes. But as a company driver!! The money should have been provided to me

The reason being is because the FMCSA is handing out MC and DOT numbers like candy. The freight market is " overly saturated". When FMCSA and DOT STOPS handing out numbers like candy and freeze these numbers then and only then will the market improve
