If you’re planning on breastfeeding, I would go for the cropped Ranunculus. You can then wear it with a nursing camisole or dress and easily breastfeed and still have some coverage, if that’s important to you. It would work with the slit hem too, you just would have some more bulk to get out of the way.

Twinsies! I bought two balls of Dolce in the same colour! I was going to make an Anker's Shirt, but it seems a little too heavy for an Aussie Summer. I may buy another ball and make a cardigan, which would be a great feel for Spring or Autumn. I have that colour sock yarn too...

I like your idea of using the cables on the side to do an i-cord for your Ranunculus. I just finished mine and I started with 90 sts on the neckline with a lace weight yarn. The neck is still a pretty tight fit. I did not use her very stretchy cast on so maybe that was a mistake! Mine was cropped but I don't wear dresses that often so I ripped the ribbing back and knit about 3-4" more on the body. I'd like to make another one with sock yarn. I'm guessing yours is from your first ball of yarn so far?

Another incredible podcast. Love the ideas and changes you have for your Ranunculus. The cable down the sides is awesome. I like the idea of splitting the cable into the icord split hem. Your baby blanket turned out beautiful and I’m sure was so appreciated. And the little baby hat is so precious. You will have lots of fun baby knitting. The pottery dish you made is so pretty and definitely very special. Also love the Bendigo pink yarn and the blue/green sock your for your father-in-law. Amazing ideas. Also so nice you have friends having babies in the same time frame so they can grow up together and definitely share along with the life changes. Incredible.

Ranunculus: you could do the deep split at the sides and add I-cord ties so it's adjustable for growing belly and later shrinking belly post-baby, especially if you want to use up the yarn; but, I also like the cropped version since you could still wear it after the baby arrives (and it is done before it gets too hot). In both cases, you can use it again for baby 2, 3, etc 😉

  • @heatherroach7817

Ranunculus: I cast on 72sts for the neck, then it's easy to increase 18sts to make it up to 90 sts. I like the low hem idea, as you have enough yarn. I also took ideas for Ranunculus from Kaci. I've made one long sleeved in Drops Air and one t-shirt in King Cole Finesse (cotton and silk dk).🌹

I think the split hem sounds like a good option , if you want to wear now, but if you think the weather is going to be too hot pretty soon, I would just make it a little bit longer and wait to use it next year no matter what you will choose… it will be lovely as you are ❤ So happy to find out…. Love the idea of splitting the cable into an icord, and maybe a bit of a high-low hem. You could curve both the front & back with some short rows? Agree with on the BWM pink, that would make a lovely baby blanket. Keep leftover sock yarn for a matching pair of baby socks..... Thank you for another lovely episode.

Love your idea for the split Hem,/ sides for the Ranunculus. If you are planning on wearing this while pregnant, you will need the front longer than the back to compensate for the "lift" the baby bump will give. You may not wear it very much while pregnant, due to the weather, as you mentioned, so the question is, when do you want it. Or just make a non pregnant one later. Love the modifications. I didn't put the short rows in the front and it doesn't hug my neck as much, which feels less chokie for me. Love the little hat. Fun.

It is lovely to just cover the baby’s back when they are in tummy time and still give them some warmth. You are right about the air conditioning. Maybe a small baby blanket that can be used over the car seat and would look great in the coming home from the hospital pictures and be a heirloom.

Hi Nadine, from Quebec, Canada. One of my favorite pattern is the Rock it Tee by Tanis Lavallée. It’s a V neck tee made in stripes of fingering alternating with one strand of mohair. Not too hot and so confortable. I love it. I made two and probably make another one.

I made the Outline Tee in Tynn line and it’s way too large for me. I don’t wear it. Maybe I will unravel it but I’m not sure. I don’t like so much this fiber and the pattern 🙁

Wow what a whirlwind few months for you! 🎉 congratulations on both the wedding and the pregnancy🎉 My first pregnancy I insisted we needed to redo all our flooring when I hit the 3rd trimester and second time I ripped the garden out and started from scratch building a patio and flower beds😂. I knit a hat just for photos for my summer bub, but it also gives you more time to knit anything for the coming winter months and they will get more wear out if it as not growing so fast 😀. Good luck with it all!

Welcome back Nadine and massive congratulations on all your news! You are really doubling down on stressful life events there with the reno, the wedding, illness and the pregnancy all at once..Sorry to hear your first trimester was rough, and that you were sick on your wedding day but I’m sure your positive easygoing nature made it a wonderful day for everyone anyway. You’re like the antithesis of a bridezilla (is there a word for that? should be). Thanks for coming back to your channel, looking forward to seeing more of you and your knitting.

Oh my gosh Nadine, what a crazy time! Massive congrats on the baby and the wedding 🎉. I got very turned off knitting with my first pregnancy too, it was about the same time period as you as well (early to mid pregnancy). Just the thought of wool made me feel even more sick than I already was, and that’s saying something. I recon you’re nesting too! I’ve had other friends do renos mid-pregnancy, I think it’s some combination of nesting plus subconsciously realising that after the baby comes you’re going to be too busy to do anything major to your house, so you suddenly start trying to tick off all of the things you had on your mental some day list. In terms of baby knits, blankets are always good because they don’t outgrow them. And summer girls are easier to knit for than summer boys - there are lots of cute baby dress patterns that you can make as a light layer in 4 ply 🥰 Also by the way I love that you’ve had to rearrange your bookshelves because it means I got to see your Redwall books in the background! I don’t know if they’re yours or Michael’s but I’m very glad to have found another Redwall reader, I was obsessed with them as a kid and I’ve never met anyone else who’s read them haha.

Hello!! Lovely to hear from you 😁😁 I read your comment to Michael and he was so smug - those are his books and he told me I should display them there because he was sure my viewers would appreciate his great taste in books 😜 I’ll have to have a read of them! I’m so glad to hear it wasn’t just me who went entirely off knitting during pregnancy. It’s so funny isn’t it, but that nausea is nothing to mess with!! I absolutely love the idea of making a little summer dress and somehow that hadn’t occurred to me - thank you for mentioning it!! ❤

Congratulations Nadine. And Michael. My daughter is in exactly the same pregnancy state and had exactly the same hideous nausea. Enjoy the next few months. December, for both, will be here before you know it. And yes…you are both “nesting”. It’s what we all do.

Thank you so much and congratulations to your daughter!! I hope she’s always feeling better and was able to cope reasonably well during that first trimester 😩 I totally agree, it seems like December will be here in moments.

On my first colorwork sweater (a swancho that took me about a year to complete) I didn’t love my color combos while I was working on it and was planning to just give it away when I was finished. But once it was done I decided I really did like it. I wear it a couple times a year and always get big compliments on it. 😁

It sounds beautiful!! Isn’t it funny how sometimes you just need to push through that initial feeling of not liking a perfect and then ending up loving it!
