Welcome to the world of podcasting!
I have to admit, that I really haven’t had the time to watch other podcasts recently, but I’m so happy that UA-cam suggested yours because I’m loving YOU and your passion for knitting, your content and especially hearing about your intentions for 2024, and your audio/video quality which is AMAZING already!
I’m definitely looking forward to binging your other videos and becoming virtual knitting besties.
    😘 Kim

Love all of your videos & watching a fellow Australian. I started my fibre journey with crochet but wanted to make socks. Crochet didn’t feel great on my feet so I’ve learnt to knit using you tube. Socks was my first knit project watching the crazy sock lady (9” circulars) but DK weight. This went quicker and easier to see. Definitely not an experienced knitter but always have socks as one of my wips now!

I started crocheting a year ago and then tried knitting. I am working on a sweater that I started at the beginning of the fall 2023. I can’t work on it often but it is coming along. I do understand about your weather as I live in the Phoenix area of Arizona in the USA. It gets to the 120s F in the summer. It’s like walking into an oven. The first time I went to the movies here I couldn’t figure out why people were bringing blankets in. I learned why by the time the movie started. The AC was kicking.

Hello from Northern California…. I live in a milder more Mediterranean climate… still can wear sweaters a few months a year, but we don’t get snow…. A few yarns I love that work for pretty much year round for me are ….Hobbii cotton silk, hobbii happy place yarn, fibers natura linen and drops belle ( Line or the Tynn Line are basically the same and all ones I love

I love your enthusiasm and energy for knitting. I hope to watch many more podcasts and that you'll continue to find joy in filming these. I've no defined plans or projects this year. I'll just take it as it comes, but I do want to make more tops. I'm in Texas (USA) and we may have a similar climate which greatly impacts our yarns, fibers and projects. I do not consider myself a "master" knitter; however, the majority of what I knit is socks.

it's interesting that Lion Brand has the Nuboo ... I think it's the same as their Truboo... I'm not a fan.
I'm going to get the touch of linen by Lion Brand... someone told me it's really nice.
Another one is Lion Brand cotton bamboo... I really like this yarn :))

Well done! I hope you do try brioche knitting. It’s makes a very lofty and thick fabric though, so you might want to save it for home decor things. Ps. I had to explain to my husband what FO stands for. Lol

Hello from the US! I LOVE your channel and have been binge watching it while working on my first sock! I picked it up when I didn’t meet gauge for my current project because I have to wait for my needles to be delivered. I have an interchangeable set, but I really prefer fixed circulars (chiaogoo). I will say that I am using a linen/cotton yarn called Mojave for that project and I’m excited. I’ll let you know what I think about the yarn. Our climate is pretty extreme, very cold in winter and very hot in the summer (100+) so I’m hoping it will be a good summer yarn.

I learnt brioche a couple of years ago and had been intimidated by the way people spoke about it prior to learning the technique. I wouldn’t necessarily call it “hard”, but it is a new technique that requires practice. What I found difficult was fixing mistakes or dropped stitches. My suggestions to a newbie brioche knitter are to use a slightly grippy, non-super wash yarn that is more likely to stay in place if you do drop a stitch, and to use lifelines to make it easier to rip back if you do make a mistake.
My first brioche project was The Collective Shawl, by Joji Locatelli. It has sections of two-colour brioche broken up by sections of garter stitch. It sounds like this might be what you’re looking for. Other designers with brioche patterns worth a squiz are Lesley Anne Robinson, Stephen West, Andrea Mowry and Nancy Marchant. I hope these suggestions help you begin your brioche journey. ❤🧶

I started out crocheting for about 10-ish years but wanted to learn to knit just so I can knit a pair of socks... 5 years later all I want to do is knit socks, I always have a sock on the needles when I'm on the go. Loved your video, can't wait to see more content. ❤

Hi Nadine, greetings from the UK (which is a little chilly at the moment!) Enjoying your podcasts, especially the ten Sophie shawl alternatives. I'm not the greatest knitter, and am probably better at crochet, but I enjoy both very much. I am trying to reduce my yarn stash at the moment as it's slightly out of control! Thank you for the inspiration.

So glad to find your channel! I live in the Sunshine State in the USA: Florida. Our climate is very similar to yours and so I find I knit shawls the most especially for the air conditioning and when our temps do drop down (sometimes) during our winter. I am coming to Australia with my family for the first time during your winter this year and our last stop is Brisbane! So glad to hear about Australian knitters, etc and find an Aussie knitting podcast. We also need more reasons to cast on new projects and try new yarns and patterns, right? Thanks for sharing your time.

My first brioche pattern was about 4 years ago. It was the Alaska skirt. It was such fun that I knit it twice! I don’t know what you would use plant fiber wise to make it cool enough for Australia but it is a really fun and straight forward project to learn on.

What a lovely natural video, I agree with the fit of the contiguous yoke being great and not slipping off of the shoulders. I recently knit Winding Bands cardigan and it would have to be one of my favourites to wear for that very reason. I think with socks there are lots of different options, toe up, cuff down, all the different heels, the needles you choose to knit them with, so it is just a matter of trying lots of different ways to see what suits you. I do love knitting socks and often have one on the go. It's a great take out knit or just for a break from a larger project. I have recently found beautiful self striping yarn from and indie dyer here in New Zealand, so it's a super simple plain sock that is make beautiful by the fibres and the lovely colourful stripes. I have just relocated from the North Island to the South where the climate is cooler so I'm looking forward to plenty of me Winter knits. Great time to have found you while I settle in in a new to me city.

Doing a quick binge to catch up on your videos, as I just found you. And am really pleased! I live west of Melbourne but, despite the cooler temperatures here, I don't enjoy wearing acrylic or anything heavier than an 8 ply. So snuggly, thick garments of our Northern hemisphere creators are gorgeous to see but not really of interest to me. Looking forward to some Aussie-friendly, relevant content.

Your intentions resonated with me as mine are similar. This year I intend learning to knit socks and make more tops/sweaters/cardigans either crochet or knit. I’ve completed a crochet 4ply top - short rows, raglan, new stitch patterns- and I love it. Just started a knit raglan and learning German short rows with m1L, m1R. I would love to have a wardrobe of handmade tops but haven’t found a fibre I really love either. I’m doing mosaic crochet for the first time in a CAL in April and looking forward more learning. I’d like to consolidate these learnings before moving on to new adventures. Love your pattern discussions and calm, smiling demeanour.

I live in Israel and totally get the lack of opportunity to wear the warmer knits. I find myself knitting a lot of tops in cotton and bamboo. Fortunately, we do get to travel to Europe a bit so I do have a chance to wear the woolies. And the office A/C is freezing all year round, so I have my office shawls to wear.

Thank you so much for the lovely comment! 🩷 I’m right there with you - I get major yarn envy watching most knitting podcasts because I can’t seem to find the yarn they talk about anywhere or it’s expensive enough that a whole sweater quantity is definitely a special occasion purchase.
