SC Fish Tales
United States
Приєднався 11 жов 2020
Welcome to SC Fish Tales! My name is Kevin and this channel will cover everything, focussing mainly on catching redfish, speckled trout , sheepshead and flounder. Footage will be taken, both, from a boat and surf fishing. The channel will occasionally feature offshore fishing trips and locations up and down the East Coast.
Videos will include fishing tutorials showing how to target and catch specific inshore species of fish. We will also explain how to use artificial lures vs live bait and cut bait.

Quick Grocery Trip Before DEBBY Hits Charleston! - Bottom Bumping With Live/Cut Bait
The bite wasn't as consistent as we would have liked, but the quality of fish made up for it! And....I missed the first several fish due to my GoPro having problems early on.

OFFSHORE TROLLING & BOTTOM BUMPING: Mixed Grocery Bag Of Tasty Treats!
Переглядів 2 тис.6 місяців тому
Boy, what a day out on the big blue! Started off trolling for Wahoo and Mahi which was successful. Later in the day we switched to slow pitch jigging on some live bottom and boy did it pay off! Caught over 10 different species and ended up with a box falloff fish to take home to our families. Couldn't have asked for a better day of offshore fishing. Spring Redfish On Z-Man Crab & Shrimp Patterns - Charleston, SC
Переглядів 5 тис.8 місяців тому
Venturing up the reeks on the ICW sure paid off on this trip! It was nonstop action right from the first cast. The redfish were holding close to structure and mud flats as the sun came up and warmed the water closer to the banks. All fish were caught on Z-Man kicker crabz and salty ned shrimpz. An Eye Strike 1/8 oz Texas eye jig head was used as well. Get your Bottom Sweeper Jigs here: lddy.no/...

We saw a fish bust at the surface and decided to stop to check it out. Good thing we did! We managed to boat 15-20 reds that were schooled up hanging just off a big oyster bed. An assortment of Z-Man boats (as usual) got the job done. CHARLESTON JETTIES - Redfish On Z-Man Diezel MinnowZ
Переглядів 3,8 тис.11 місяців тому
I started out fishing the rising tide for an hour until the tide swung around and started to fall out. Fished one lure all day, Z-Man Diezel MinnowZ in Beer Run color. Matched it to a 3/16 Texas Eye jig head by Eye Strike. The approach was throwing right up on the rocks and letting it fall slowly, usually picking up a bite on the 2nd or 3rd twitch. Do you really notice a difference with pro cure vs not using it?
I really do! If I get a couple short strikes in a row without hooking the fish, I go and put some of that scent on, and I usually catch them on the next immediate cast.
@ nice!! Im trying to improve my artificial fishing catch rate! My goto is live bait either the trusted Carolina rig on the bottom or live bait under a cork but i want to break away from that sometimes.
Is this Florida
This was up in Charleston, SC.
@ ok
Mannnn yall was getting busy
Cobia!!
Oh yeah!!!
Caught a 74.6lb cobe pff the okaloosa island pier in june. Saw about a 10 ft shark so i casted my 5inch NLBN on it to check for cobias and that monster jumped at it.
Wow, that's awesome! I love seeing them following the bigger sharks around. Would've loved to have seen that fight as well! Ha ha.
Little guy. Good job getting it in the boat.
Thanks man. It felt like a tank because it was foul hooked in the back and not in the mouth.
@@SCFishTales Cobia disappeared here in Virginia earlier than usual this year unfortunately.
@liers2va man that stinks. Luckily for us, they are around here all winter as well.
@@SCFishTales You must be in Florida. Lucky!
@@liers2va Charleston, SC 🤫
Bwahahahahaha true fisherman….”it’s a fifty pounder”…. Love the enthusiasm son…rock on
Haha. It was foul hooked in the back so it felt like a giant! 😂
@@SCFishTales keep following the dream, looked like an absolute awesome day
If I purchased a jet powered boat do I have to worry about grass and seaweed getting sucked up into the impeller fishing the low country rivers and marsh areas?
You should be fine as long as you do not actually go up into the marsh grass with the motor on. Otherwise, you would mess your motor up!
@@SCFishTales thank you
Where do you get the fiddler crabs?
Either at our local bait shop here, Haddrell's , or I catch them on my own.
What are the specs on the spinning combo? Test of the line mono or braid?
We were both using light action rods with 3000 reels. 10lb braid with 15lb fluorocarbon leaders.
1 color fished for 3 years so it's ok if I change my bait color twice a day 😂😆 lol I see yall at Pitt st this past Saturday y'all were crabbing I was in the green yak fishing
Haha. Yes ok. I saw you out there. We did good with the crabs. Hope you caught some fish as well.
@@SCFishTales yea managed a slam with 1 trout 1 red and 3 flounder all undersized but it was still a fun day
That's great man!
pluck that line like a bass guitar when grouper take you to the rock
Thanks for the tip! I'll give that a try next time.
Nice Clay Rice silos on the wall there!!!!
Haha. Thanks man. Good eye!
Heck with the big brother you out to wanting the dad or mom put some pressure on your fishing Rod
Good sale on fish!
Oh yeah! Hopefully it's a great fall for fishing.
It's always a good day fishing with Capt. Jeff, YOU guys hooked up on some nice fish and M is a real trooper, keep them coming Kev😊
Yup, he's dialed in on the fish out there.
Such a fun day! Can't wait to do it again!
Me too! 💪
Way to go u guys, always a fun day offshore with Capt. Jeff and that M is a real trooper! Can't wait, keep on catching Kev!😊
Do mullet just act scared sometimes when there running the grassline or is there something actually there making them run scared??
It's usually a bit of both. They get scared at the lightest movement around them. If it's fish chasing them, you usually see a blow up by the school!
You suck
i cant believe those crabs actually work
They have slowly become one of my favorite baits!
Nice catch
Thanks man!!!
Great video, what month of the year do they run there?😊
Usually April-May.
Just Moved to Charleston and love the videos. Thanks for all the helpful information. If you ever a plus one on the boat, I'm always available. looking forward to more videos
Thanks man. I'm down and out for a good while now with some health issues. But I hope to be back at it again in a few months!!!
Really good info here, thanks for sharing.
Thank you for watching! 👍
The Zman kicker crabs are money every time especially with a little blue crab pro cure is straight money 🤙
Can't beat that combo!
What time of the year are you fishing, good video.
I believe this was late summer and possibly into early fall.
A question from a West Coast Fisherman why spinning rigs for bottom fishing? Nice video thanks for sharing.
Just personal preference on my end. If we see a school of tuna or something on top, I can easily cast to them without changing something up.
Man. You are a beast. Great video 🤙🏿
Thanks and thanks for watching!
Nice how you kept it outta those clouds.
Yeah, thanks man!
How heavy of a jig head are you using with the water depth your fishing here? I know lighter 1/10 -1/6 for 2-4ft. At low tide the ends of these docks usually hold deeper water. Just curious what weight your using to get your bait in the strike zone.
I was using a 3/8oz jig head here as I was only fishing in 3-6 feet of water.
Good stuff Jacko!
Hey Ed! Thanks for watching. I hope you are doing well buddy!
Kevoooooo, been a while, what an outstanding video. Whatta Fish!!!
Thanks Bary! It's great to hear from You. Hope you are doing well buddy.
That water color was Beautiful, Blue Gold, and what a day fishing 🎣 tremendous top water action, always nice to see Capt.Jeff also he puts u on the Fish! Keep those videos coming Kevin, Hookem to Cookem. 🙂
Couldn't have asked for a better day!
They call me “BIG POPPER” beautiful day out there… 🎣🐟🍻
😂😂 Oh yeah baby!
I was just wondering if you ever fished for Whiting of the Jetties or in the harbor ... and if you would be so kind as to do a How to catch whiting show ..... please
I've only targeted whiting while surf fishing. Small #1 hook with small piece of cut shrimp and/or fish bites.
I haven't caught a black sea bass in a while, all the damn snapper eat them all
I catch a lot more Black Sea bass closer to shore. Maybe 30-50 feet deep around structure. But they are mostly undersized.
@@SCFishTales only one I've caught in the past 5 years was in 8 feet of water on a shark line at a jetty, haven't seen them off the Charleston coast since I was catching stringers of 2 in 45 feet in 2018
I haven't caught that many either now that I think of it. Red snapper eating them all!
@@SCFishTales yeah, red snapper restrictions caused over population in turn is wiping out the black sea bass population I've seen
@elijahbl5745 I totally agree! Catch WAY more snapper now than BSB.
I can’t believe you aren’t saving them for catfish
Yeah I don't ever fish for catfish. But there have been others who asked me to save some for them to use for bait too!
Live bottom can you explain please
Yes, that means there is structure on the bottom that is holding fish.
6:00 10 pounds... LOL.. Maybe 5 -6
Haha. 🤷🏻♂️
I live in Florida but come up to Charleston twice a year for the redfish. One of my favorite places
That's great. We have a really good redfish fishery up here. I
@@SCFishTales yes y’all do
BEST jigheads on the planet! What reels are you using?
Purple Death!!
Oh yeah!
Nice fish!!
When are we doing a collab
Just moved to sc last aug. I just got my fishing license and am an amateur for anything other than pond fishing and small lakes. Love your videos. Are all your poles braid with a leader?
Welcome to the state! You will love it once you get the hang of it. Yes, I use braid and a fluorocarbon leader every time.
How deep is the water you are fishing in?
On this day I was fishing in 3-6 foot of water.
Moved to SC and trying to learn the inshore game. Great videos. Are you from Philly area? Accent sounds just like where I grew up (Ridley).
@rickfinsterbusch3258 haha. Yeah, I'm from South Jersey, went to Lehigh. Go Birds! 🦅
My dad went to Lafayette!!
Nice! Big rivals.
Gonna be out next the icw and price inlet wednesday..... gonna try the kicker crabz I got today and a jerk shad tandem rig that I have been dying to try since the fall..... finally got some time off work to go..... that did look like a juvie ASR......
Yeah man, get out there! Hoping the fish will be biting this week. Hoping to get out there one day this week myself.
Looks like the newer Zman crab bait works pretty good. Would like to try it!😊
Yes, I think you would like it. Very easy to use.
Love the Kicker 🦀!! My new fav 🙌
Yes! Easy to use and just a slow, steady retrieve.
My guess would be a lane snapper. Used to catch them all the time back in the keys. I’ve accidentally caught one of those and a small mangrove snapper in my cast net up in the Charleston creeks. I was shocked
Yeah ok. Had someone else on here think it was that too. I was totally shocked to reel it in way up inshore like that.
