      Oh, interesting idea. At first, i thought "But then you risk getting a politician trait", but... since a character usually gets only 2 skill traits, you can make a general with two skill traits into a politician without the negative effects. Just to clarify: for more experience, it needs to be a powerful politician. I.e. head of state, heir or leader of an interest group with +20% clout. :)

      @@DataTimelapses yes it could end up a double edge sword but if uhave +20 or 25% combat stats garanteed for an upcoming war its actually insane. Sometimes u could just force a war as gp like that and the other side cannot raise a good enough army to withstand a full attack. (if u activate companies and IG leader bonuses some cases its insane eg: france and Prussia

  • @mimile4462

    This sounds like hoi4 simplified. Battles conditions are the same as tactics in hoi4 and the experience system is simpler and doesn't give choices to the player. In hoi4, you get xp to level up your generals and towards some traits depending on the battles you fight (so if you fight in hills, you will get xp towards the trait hill fighter, if you fight with infantry, you will get xp towards infantry expert, etc) and you can buy traits using the levels of your generals. What do you think you should do to grind generals? Keep armies with 4 generals on a defensive front that never moves forever and fleets with 4 admirals raiding convoys with a single ship?

    • @DataTimelapses
      @DataTimelapses День тому

      Thanks for sharing how the HoI System works, i didnt know. :) Well, the HoI System sounds better to me. Yea, do essentially that. Add "search for generals who are at least younger than 40." You might need to create 1or 2 empty "bad and old generals"-armies. Just to stash the bad material, so you get new generals. But the increased bureaucracy cost will mean next to nothing to a major or great power. And you probably need to recruit a fresh wave of generals about every, say, 15 years. So when the trained generals die of old age, a new generation is already prepared.

    • @mimile4462

      @@DataTimelapses Yeah the hoi4 system is better but I don't mind a simplified system in a game where warfare isn't supposed to a central part. Thx for the tips. Idk if I will implement them in multiplayer since I don't want other players to be forced to do those to be competitive.

    • @DataTimelapses
      @DataTimelapses День тому

      The only way to know the exact commander level is searching your commander in the save file. But that is rather inconvenient. The best you can do in game is a worst case analysis: if the commander has one personality trait (3 points), one unlevelable skill trait (2 points) and one level 1 skill trait (one point), then he needs to be at least level 5. Personality trait=3 Smaller skill trait=+1 Needs to be at least one level higher to get a new skill trait => level 5 at least.

First off, make the actual experience system in this video transparent. It's a really cool mechanic and it's so weird that it's hidden off for some reason. Having lots of mobilisation options gives them progress towards the Supply Requisitions Expert trait. And so on

    I believe the reason you didn’t get the "Risorgimento" (didn’t become a republic) is because forming Italy itself is a requirement. If you read the journal entry, it says it will complete if you have formed Italy. So you only get it if you form Italy while having 25% radicals. Also the reason your radicals went below 25% is because your population grew every time you annexed a country so it didn’t reach 25%.

    • @DataTimelapses
      @DataTimelapses День тому

      Good idea, but i disagree on the first part, unless i missunderstood your comment. :) I had several test runs where the pan nationalists took over and i became a republic as two sicilies without owning even half of italy. Good point about the annexing part! I think paradox even removes radicals from countries which you annex through italian unification events to avoid annexation chains.

    • @DataTimelapses
      @DataTimelapses День тому

      I think there is some potential for beeing faster. I think 1844 should be possible. If you go full RNGod or super save scum, you can probably make all italian minors into subjects and annex them super fast. Then i believe in 1843. :D Maybe even 1842, but that seems like a stretch. Faster should only be possible with a different method. Sardinia Piedmond is closer to researching nationalism, which is important, but they also have less man power than two sicilies.

  • @wallyvargas-rios9305
    @wallyvargas-rios9305 7 днів тому

    I don't know to what extent this would be helpful, especially considering how minor and RNG-dependent it is, but you can demand a treaty port off of Lucca instead of launching a "Conquer State" play against them. Given that Lucca only has one province (one which is coastal and has a port), these have the same effect of full-annexing Lucca BUT they has a 37% chance of backing down to a Treaty Port play day 1, so you can feasibly shave off at least a couple months that way. Unrelated, but Lübeck can be fully annexed the same way so long as they either leave Prussia's power bloc and/or you have a higher rank than whoever their power bloc leader is. With that extra time, it might be an option to rush for becoming a major power so you can secure minor powers in South America as protectorates and establish your own power bloc with Advanced Research as a principle. Especially as the Two Sicilies (compared to Sardinia-Piedmont), you're kind of bottlenecked by tech spread and the ahead of time penalty to researching Nationalism. Relations are the bigger bottleneck, but being equally far away from Central Banking (and access to Bankrolls) doesn't help either. Having a Sovereign Empire power bloc might also help with peacefully securing some of the minor Italian nations as subjects, though I doubt the time-saving potential of this compared to straight-up conquest. Hell, if the only goal is to form Italy as fast as possible, what's stopping you from starting as Austria (or a more advanced outside nation like France or Great Britain), taking all of Italy yourself, and then just nation-ruining before releasing yourself as Trieste or something? With some cut-down-to-size exploits, you wouldn't even need to fight Austria directly to unite Italy, but I understand seeing that as a whole separate category of run you wouldn't want to bother with. Finally, regarding Austria leaving the war "early" at 13:26, their capitulation desire (which you can see below their war support) hit 0. These are separate values, but I'll admit to not really knowing how the AI calculates this.

    • @DataTimelapses
      @DataTimelapses 6 днів тому

      Hey, thanks for the long reply. :) I noticed the treaty port thing as well, but i was unsure if that would somehow interfere with the unification by flagging lucca as treaty port instead of properly owning the province. Is that a thing? Or does it just become an ordinary province? At least at the current version of this strategy (it's like version 9 or something) beeing at war with lucca is helpful to gather conscripts. And i didn't know about lubeck. :) Becoming a major power as two scilies in 1836 is not a problem. If you build 10 line infantries, make the intelligentsia happy, use medium government wages and very high military wages, you are usually a major power by about august. But i totally forgot about major powers beeing able to form power blocs! At the very least, forming a sovereign empire would reduce liberty desire from subjects. If papal states or sardinia piedmont get to much liberty desire, they start lowering relations, which is really bad. Even getting only one nation as subject through the power bloc interaction would be helpful, since you get less infamy, which saves relations and there is less risk in wars/one less war. But a nation needs to be 5 years in a power bloc to be annexed. Haha, i also experimented with getting central banking early to bankroll, but researching two level 2 techs took way to long. There is definitivly potential in forming a power bloc! Very good idea. :) While it would be interesting to see how fast one could unify italy with every means available, i wanted to unify italy as an italian nation. I slightly changed the title to hopefully highlight that fact a bit better. :) Oh, i am usually total ignoring capitulation desire! I think i need to pay more attention to that value. Thanks for pointing that out.

      @DataTimelapses it was a good video, though I think it's better to directly annex rather than protectorate in most cases. In my own playthroughs I usually attack lucca, Tuscany, and try get defensive pacts with Austria and France. Then swiftly attack modena and Parma. Its usually possible to bait the papal states into a war or attack directly if they don't have a defence pact with Austria. It's only about 50 infamy to annex them entirely. From there you can usually peacefully unify with two sicilies.

Very high taxes increase expected SoL by 3/5/7. It is still "15% radicalization each SoL-Level below the expected SoL". That is unchanged.

      @@unhommequicourtDepends on what they want. If you have a movement that's rising up, you can trigger the revolution by increasing taxes. Then lose to it, and you can get the aristocrats unseated.

    Patch 1.8/PoE changed how taxes generate radicals and you need to set a gamerule to get the grace period. This strategy will very likely not work anymore, at least not without an active grace period. But if you are interested in learning more about the new system, i got you covered: ua-cam.com/video/rLhq5SE9tO0/v-deo.html

    i knew it was worse but -40% is insane, i noticed in the files the devs changed "BUILDING_WEEKS_BETWEEN_PAY_CHANGES" from 4 or 12 (cant remember) to 0, so every week they update the wages. In theory higher wages should shift GDP growth to the consumer economy instead of the current construction loop. But anyway i updated smarter ai and now it should keep up with the 1.7 ai timelaspe. india dying every game really hurts tho

    Maybe a Greece to Byzantium campaign would be interesting. They get a lot of claims. Thanks for the awesome series.

    I love these kinds of videos. Makes it easy to understand what impact your actions will have in the end ingame. It is one thing knowing "High taxes bad because SoL" and another thing to be able to predict the amount of radicals due to a low SoL on high taxes. Thank you!

      Thank you. :) I also felt it is important to know when you can savely switch taxes. I wouldn't be surprised if many players stay on normal taxes longer than they need to.
