Today I got my paws on a Gorgeous Sebring Orange 2021 C8 Corvette 2LT. The Mid-Engined Corvette! Come take a ride with me as we go through a quick tour, test drive with some pulls on the open road, and a discussion of why this car is worth even the high...

Lexus GX460 Full Chrome Delete...and why I'm NOT satisfied with it!
Переглядів 13 тис.3 роки тому
In my Pros and Cons of Ownership video of my 2015 Lexus GX460 from a few months ago, I already had the wheels powdercoated and painted gloss black. However, there was a lot of chrome trim around the truck (grill, badges, side moldings, door handles, and more) that didn't match the wheels, so I had all of the trim painted gloss black to give it a look similar to so many modern SUV's that can be ...

Pros and Cons of My 2015 Lexus GX460 - Hiking Day Special!

Not a detailed review (there are plenty on YT), but rather a summary of what I like and what I don't like about my 2015 Lexus GX460 Premium. It caters well to my outdoor hobbies, as it's very rugged, comfortable, reliable, durable and capable. If you're looking for a techy, sporty SUV, buy an X5. If you're looking for a reliable, luxury off-roader that will last a long time and you're consideri...

Most X5's come with BMW's great turbo inline-6, but not this one. The 50i means it has a twin turbo V8, and this is still not the M! We take a walk around, we do an interior and technology overview, and we go for a drive! We find out why the xDrive50i versions of the X5 are fast, fun, and special, and why they present an excellent value compared with the likes of a Cayenne Turbo, Supercharged V...

The Five WORST AUTOMOTIVE REDESIGNS of all time!
Переглядів 804 роки тому
In my first episode, I discuss my personal list of my top five least favorite automotive redesigns of all time! The list of redesigns that I like would be very long, so in this episode I go over what I feel are the worst, and the reasons why. I look forward to hearing your thoughts or opinions in the comments, and hope to be back with more content soon!
Great car and thanks for the video. What did you end up doing with the car in mods/colour change? Cheers
@astroidother3609 thanks for watching! Life happened and I haven't made time for YT videos much, but you can check out the color change on TikTok @thezlistcars - I wrapped it in a dark metallic green! Also did catless downpipes, a Stage 1 Carbahn tune, and lots of maintenance. It feels like it has a solid 550 hp or so, which is about right for the upgrades!
Great video. I just hit 350,000 miles on my 2011 GX 460 this last summer. I am a Regional Manager for my company so I do about 30,000 miles a year driving my region and visiting my stores. Unfortunately, the truck needs about $15,000 in maintenance and just warn out repairs so I sold it a few months ago and bought the 2023 GX 460 the last of its kind. The 2023 is a nice upgrade yet familiar version. I look forward to another 350,000 miles.
Do people not know how to prep surface for paint? What in the f is wrong with all of these professionals? Time and effort isn't an excuse either. Honestly they should've just gone with a wrap anyway since they can't paint. Snap the pieces off, wrap em et voila.
I know nothing about paint. I had a bad rock chipped on the upper chromed plate trim of my GX front grille. From what I have tried to do the paint won’t stick on the chromed plate trim. Although it said the paint I bought is mirror shine and works on chrome. I have tried everything but it didn’t last long. I heard about plastic dip and will check it out if it’s the best solution for cosmetic look. I’m like you hate to see it every time looking at it.
Why would you do that to that sweet car😊
Hello congratulation on your dream car.
Are those Lexus cross bars? I think they look great. Do you notice offensive wind noise?
Thats because you went cheap end chrome delete you probably went for the "deal" real chrome delete the body shop should strip away the chrome, then primer and paint it.
Would a 2014 x50i with 84K miles be worth looking at?
With a close look at maintenance history and a solid PPI, yes it would. They are way better than their reputation, but still have some funds set aside for maintenance and service.
No, you're very wrong. This does NOT compete witg a GLE63 AMG the X5M competes with the AMG.
What I try to explain in this review is that the xdrive50i trim gets CLOSE to that arena of performance (X5 M, GLE63, Supercharged RR). My point is that it offers a lot of value, considering the acceleration, power, creature comforts, etc. as a cheaper alternative to the range-topping M's and AMG'S. I'm quite aware that the real X5 M is the direct competitor to GLE63, etc. and that this is more of a direct comparison to a GLE43 or ML550. Thank you for watching.
Came back to this.
Mercedes GLE550 is the Benz comparison. The amg stuff is equivalent to the ///M stuff.
You're close to correct...except that they never made a GLE550. They made an ML550 until 2014, then it became the ML400 with the 3.0 biturbo V6, and then in 2016 when the ML turned into the GLE, the engine choice between the 350 and the 63 AMG became the 43 AMG with the twin turbo V6. But yes, overall you're correct that the X5 xDrive50i is not a true '63 AMG competitor. The point of my video is that, especially with a tune, it comes awfully close value-wise to the X5 M and its competitors.
Any updates on this SUV? I may look at a 2015 GX460 with 102K miles for $27k. (Possibly trading in my 2019 4Runner Off Road Premium)
Unfortunately I traded it for a much less reliable car. If I was smart, I would have kept it forever. Zero issues, as expected, and I parted with it at 114k miles.
now your truck looks like it belongs to a blk
Can someone please try and explain why on all these videos these days people try and record the exhaust sound right at the exhaust?? I don't understand the trend. It sounds terrible! You're audio devices can't capture the sound that close.... Never worked once.
Be prapared to pay $16,000 for an engine rebuilt, $8,000 for air suspension replacement, etc...
Be prepared to read stupid misleading comments of honda owners.
Welcome to the team! 50i v8 puts in work
Thanks! Naturally life happens and I end up not making more videos on it yet, but I just ordered downpipes and high performance coils for it, taking it in for a tune by Xmas, so that should be a fun improvement! Although stock power is still quite strong.
@@TheZListCars EU6 injectors and an x pipe. Plus valve stem seals
@@nochance1519 nice. No tune?
Your a Chad for not warning others of this crap business!
Congratulations! Looking for one myself right now ran into your video doing research. Looking forward to more videos on this car.
Thanks Man! I'll get a proper video with real editing and quality going up soon lol. This was just a quick announcement. Mine has been rock solid so far from 64k miles to 73k miles. Drives perfect, no codes, all the power, does everything so well! Good luck on your search. You'll love it.
Post more!!
more suv than anyone will ever need. good pick!
Thanks! Yes I agree, no one truly needs the power of the X5M, or even this, but it sure is fun! I just think the 50i is a better daily and all-around driver to put miles on. I love the seats in the M, but the double clutch trans is a little clunky for traffic that I'm often in, and everything is just a wee bit more expensive, esp when I take into account the light offroading that I do. I'd rather be in the cheaper car that still has a TTV8 lol!
I just bought a 2015 X5 eDrive50i a couple of days ago. Totally love it! Enjoying your laughter when you accelerate, I’ve been doing that a bunch the last couple of days :)
Haha thanks! I actually have bought one since this video! Totally intending to pick up making videos again but life has been getting in the way, and gopro broke. However, sooner than later you'll be seeing a video of me showing off my new-to-me 2017 xDrive50i, which I always really knew was the perfect car for me. Glad to hear you're enjoying yours! Acceleration still makes me laugh!
my 2008 gmc yukon FBO on e85 with other stuff would eat this SUV... too slow🤣🤣
What year 50i’s had all the issues? Was it the 2010-2014?
May I ask how much it cost to get all chromes black out plz? Thx
This was a couple of years ago at this point, and they didn't do a great job, since they painted over the chrome instead of wrapping it or stripping then painting, but it cost about $500.
Come back Matt! Review anything! (except a Tesla lol)
Haha thanks man, I hope to soon! Next video will be my new V8 twin Turbo X5! I've gotten to the point of working 60 hour weeks and child care in all of my spare time, so borrowing cars, filming and editing has been tough, but I will be back soon! Promise! Thanks for your interest as always!
@@TheZListCars oh mannnnn! I literally was pushed over the fence on getting my f15 50i because of your video on it! I've had it since last August and I love it! Congrats on the new ride Matt!
@@TheZListCars in your review of it you mentioned that you'd like to have one of your own one day, if in the right position. 2023 will be our year! Looks like it's already becoming your's!
My husband just bought me one of these; it's my first BMW. I love the car, but I'm not thrilled with its value right now compared to it's original price. I plan on keeping it for a while, but expected it to hold its value a bit better. Though I'm sure there's something related to the current economy. Nevertheless, it's a blast to drive and the gas mileage is much better than I expected for a V8.
It’s market value drops rapidly due it’s legendary reputation for very poor long term reliability & very high maintenance costs with age & miles. They’re known to suffer oil leaks that are expensive to repair, turbo failures & many, many, many electronic system challenges. Porsche & Audi SUVs are in the same boat. BMW, Porsche & Audi do not build vehicles to hold up well for more than 3 years &/or 100 k+ miles, even if they’ve been well maintained. The very best BMWs are brand new & leased for 3 years & sold after the lease.
@@Sophos1964 Thanks for the insight!
@@adelvecchio1029, stick to a rigid maintenance schedule as per the owner’s manual & that’ll help you stay ahead of many issues before they become major.
@@Sophos1964 I have been! We’re usually pretty good about that but upped it a few notches with this car!

walnut trim is very nice
I like to take the badging off anyway
Bass nectar sticker on the back window?
Good Catch! Yes, I used to be a big 'Nectar fan and saw his shows all over the country. However, after all of the accusations and allegations, that sticker has long since been removed. I don't know what's been proven and what's not, but I didn't want to be driving around representing him if it was true.
@@TheZListCars definitely.. last time I saw him was 2015 at tomorrow world in Georgia
Are you at high line auto in Charlotte?
Yes!
@@TheZListCars i sent in an offer on the white 2019 GX460 on ebay. I used to live in Hickory. small world.
@@2001waldo Hah! That's funny. We are getting off of the eBay platform ASAP. It doesn't work for our business. We're a one-price/no-haggle store, and eBay bidders all seem to think they can get a car for 40% off by using eBay lol.
I have the Xdrive50i with the M Sport package. (That means it has an m motorsport upgrade but isn't the X5M. Mine has 440 hp and the X5M has a jaw dropping 550hp). This thing is a beast. In the m sport, it's faster than a Ferrari F355, Porsche 911 SE4 and even the Skyline GT-R can't hang. I smoked 550 amgs, I cannot tell you how much fun this thing is and you can take your family and pound the subs
Awesome. My UA-cam channel has been on pause for a year due to having a baby and working like a dog, but I just actually bought a 2017 X5 50i M Sport today with Mocha Interior Design package and much more. Video coming soon. I love this thing soooo much, and yes you're right, it's a beast!
Great review! Random question: I test drove a 2013 and loved it as it was peppy. Then test drove 2016 and it felt a lot more sluggish and less responsive. Is there an explanation for this? Is there different tuning? Much thanks.
It already have check engine light.
This cat is ridiculous. YOU don't know crap about this truck
You rarely see african americans driving this car
Looks great. Is there a reason you just didn't plasti-dip everything? On all my cars, trucks and my kid's cars I used Plasti-Dip with glossifier. Stands up to car washes, etc for years. in fact I've not had a Plasti-dip failure yet
Thanks for the comment. Looking back that's really what I should have done. Lack of research and a quick decision was my problem I think!
Just purchased a 2014 GX460 and my wife and I love it. I’m glad you touched on the cons more than the pros, the only negatives they have are mostly fuel economy and using high octane gas.
Would you recommend this as a large family vehicle?
I would - they are definitely an attractive, luxurious, and refined family vehicle that has great safety features. I would opt for warranty coverage if possible, as they have a supercharged AND turbocharged 4-cylinder in the T6 and T8 trims.
Yes we love it. We have a fully loaded 2016 90,000 miles with the extended warranty. T6 with polestar, roof rails, cargo cover. Like he said the interior does not feel cheap at all. Like having a car that not to much people are driving where we live at.
Front doesnt look good, rear is good
Some Prados are decked out
I have same color, like to paint emblems
I have a 750I M sport 45k, I had one fuse I needed to change 2 times. The warranty is almost up. Olive warranty is what I am going to get next just in case. Keep it serviced!
Which fuse keeps going out?
Great video , thanks 🏴
I’ve got a 2009 3ltr diesel,it’s a great car ,just had Apple CarPlay in the dash and it’s great , thanks
Is this bigger than a Toyota Highlander? Overall interior
Despite being a larger vehicle with a larger engine that consumes more fuel, I think the space inside is very similar. You get the GX because you want the truck platform, rugged off-road capability, 8-cylinders, and Lexus refinement Highlander is a great value though - might be a better buy for folks who are just looking for space.
