Damn that looks like an amazing bike.
@jessintare4682 it's only 1 I put together for the trip , I built a 450rally adv bike up its a year ago on the chanel.
You must be as tough as old boots mate.. much respect.
@@DuncanMargetts more like stupid, but atleat I wasn't full off luggage like other guys that would of been real hard in that weather.
Keen to watch...casting to tv now 😊
Hope u don't get too bored.
I wonder if they put a lubricant on the plain bearings that goes sticky if the fuel gets in? Just spit-balling. I really need to carry a spare pump!
@@IronbarkMX it was worth pulling apart , might see if my dealer has a buggered one I can pull apart. I found quantom pumps work well .

Nice build, why the 450 over the 500?
@@scottyyy3608 to be honest the 450 came up for sale, they also Rev out quicker than a 500 its the only second hand bike I have bought in 15 years but was nearly new.
Hey mate great vid. Where is that sand dune your parked on in the intro
It's actually in billiatt np near lameroo. U been out riding much Steve .

Brilliant video mate! Loved it. Would love to know how u managed 28km/L I have a '23 500excf and best I've managed is 22km/L with 14/48 on the soft map Any tips much appreciated!
As I said to Keith it was an eco run twice and sat on 80 to 85 ,but my ecu is flashed and put out great power , but if I was on sand tracks or higher speed like a 100kmh it would turn to poo. I will do a more extensive test on my next trip, glad u enjoyed the vid just a bit of fun.
28km/L? How?
That's what I thought, 2 times I filled it was between 26to 28 kms a litre bear in mind I was on an eco run sitting on 80 to 85 kmh, but when I did a faster run around 100 it was considerably worse, I also had my ecu reflashed by my mate rex at fuel torque. ⛽️ I was also traveling very light keith not the same as your touring weight, I will be sure on my next run to nail info down even more.
What year was that made?
2019 last of the ones u can cheaply put a kick start on it aswell.
Did you buy the bluetooth jigga from ebay as well mate ?
You can get from ebay ,but I got them from aliexpress about 50 bucks but get the K type , thanks for watching
Cheers for sharing mate 🍻👍
Nps hope it helps even 1 person.
Enjoying the ride, hopefully head back soon 👍
Great place to ride up there
Nice bike mate!
can you please let me who you bought the wheels through? cheers Kustomworxbyadam
The best price was from ebay 👌 and got a great discount, now the ones I got have brass nipples that are plated and obviously stainless spokes. Hope this helps

Very jealous raining here atm...😢
Yeah good simple review mate. I've had one for a while and only used it to listen to music which was great. Want to see if it will connect to Brendans Cardo... watch this space.
I have since tested a blu tooth gongle on a 5watt uhf connected to the fodsport with push to talk that works fantastic 👍 and instead of 800feet your could get like 10kms line of sight.
@@bigals.ktms.9937 Shit you read my mind wanted to try that myself. Your a legend. Did U do Keith Jobsons set up
@@dirtbikeadv I seen his post ages ago ,it depends on the handheld uhf u use . I grabbed a k type blutooth ptt from aliexpress it has a2.5 3pole and a 3.5 3pole it plugged straight into my Kenwood. .3 watt uhf easy to blutooth and boom worked. So I went to plug into my 80 chanel uniden ,and even thou it had Same connections the pins were out by 1 mill ,so u can't force it. So back to ali express and got two short extentions then I can plug it in boom 💥 5 watt ptt depending on conditions 4 to 30 kms . From memory Keith had a k type blutooth dongle but his uhf only had a single 3.5 so that's why he had to cut and shut wires. Hope this helped steve this is by far the best way to go, after all blutooth 5 doesn't have much over 800 feet in a straight line and if a car is in-between 🚗 you will kill it.
Great Trip! Tower looks good sitting on the bike looks like it's just the right height. Are you just running a tablet for navigation?
Yer I am running samsung note which I had laying around, then run ozi explorer software and about 8 gig of topos maps, all of Australia 🇦🇺 😀. Tower height is probably simular to your AJP its actually perfect protection from weather and wind.
Good to see they held up well, I too ordered a cush drive rear wheel after watching Keith's video about them. One thing the supplier didn't have was replacement cush blocks and they couldn't tell me what they were the same as, they look to me very much like KTM cush block used in most of there cush drives wheels (ktm690,790,890 ect ect). I'm planning to order one of the KTM blocks to see if it's compatible with the KKE cush drive, do you have any info on which blocks work?
U know that's a great point ,I will take that up with kke. But besides that I don't think you will ever wear out those rubber blocks 🤔, probably wear the motor out first .
@@bigals.ktms.9937 yes true but it would be good to know what to replace them with if they did eventually wear out, the DR650 guys do seem to replace theirs from time to time although they do a lot of k's. I'll order one of those KTM blocks and see if it fits, I'll try and remember to report back on how it goes here.
@@-TheRealChris thanks mate yer if u remember 👍
@@bigals.ktms.9937 It turned up and it fits no worries, the KTM block is a bit nicer finish but they are essentially the same size and shape. I cant write the part number because UA-cam seems to think its a phone number and auto deletes it but it's the same cush drive block used in the KTM 690,790,890 and a heap of other stuff, I just ordered it through my local KTM dealership, took about 3 days and cost about ten bucks per block so around sixty for a set.
@@-TheRealChris that's great info Chris, it will be interesting to see if they ever need replacing thou.
Sounds good!
For the money I was impressed 👌 😎
@@bigals.ktms.9937 Yes, Best Budget
Interesting that you plan to have both the 350 and the 500. I’ve got 350 and 690, but keep thinking about a 500…
I built the 450 up as a rally /light adventure bike .and the 350 would be what I would race only.
@@bigals.ktms.9937 👍 assumed it was a 500. In the video you also mention the 690, did you use to have one?
@@miro_s nearly bought a 690 then decided they were to heavy for what I wanted to do.

Just did nearly 1000kms up arkaroola on them , results out soon .
Awesome rally tower! who makes them?
We make all our own stuff to suit what we are doing .
Nice bike. The vibrations at idle shake the front fender tho, wonder what it must be on long trips.
@@miro_s there's no more vibration than any other single I have had ,but yes it's there but after just doing a 1000km trip it wasn't a problem 😉, you could add rubber dampers and what not but at this stage of the build its fine. Thanks for watching. 👍
Nice work really keen to see your thoughts. Thinking I'll put a set of SM on the Sherco for some fun so look forward to your review. Thanks for sharing mate glad to have someone else trying these out Regards Steve
Hi Mr Bigals, what a great video. Such a good watch. Jeez looks like a a nice base to start with such a neat bike. Love the setup man it looks sick. You can't have too much light out front. We all say oh I'm not going to ride at night so I don't need good lights...... But sooner or later we get caught out and we get home in the dark dodging roos all the way. Would love to know what your lighting set up is? Did you make it or is a proprietary system. I have a screen in the shed that I am going to make up a small tower that cable ties to the forks so it can be removed and install the oem light for trail riding. Thanks for the mention that's awesome Regards Steve
Hey Steve thanks for the posative reply mate. Because my brother and myself come from a road trial racing background it was day night racing and love the night part. As for lights we make all our own setup and have done so for the last 30 odd years. We also were heavily into stator rewind and even did 3phase on some , then started making adjustable AC shunt regulators and ran the h4 globes at 16 volts , and let me say there nice and white at 16volts mate. Just for a fun fact we got 350watts out of an xr600 using xlfly wheel and xl stator rewound. Thanks for the positive feedback mate regards allen
Thanks for sharing, any idea of the weight of the bike now?
Not sure atm but will get a close idea soon.
had a look and if the stock bike is 106kgs dry I reckon it would not be any more than 120kg without fuel.
Is this over in SA?
It is
👍🇱🇰
Must come and ride that area when I get a 480 back in the shed. There's a similar run we do out from Swan Hill. Nice u can link up with a coffee and vanilla slice somewhere too 😋
Lol yer there good tracks out here, just get a 350 thats all u need 😆.
Footage looks a lot higher quality and pretty smooth considering the speeds. Nice improvement and progress on your uploads. Keep up the good work!
The 350 is very competitive against 450's and 500's because of their agility and less engine inertia so they brake quicker. That looks like fun!
The other guys that ride with me all tried my 350 and were blown away how fast, and light and even agile it was. I will probably keep this one as my light adventure bike and get another new 350 for the tracks we ride.
@@bigals.ktms.9937 Consider the 350 XCF if you can get them registered in SA they are even lighter and have awesome amounts of power. We can rec rego them here in VIc so ok to ride in the bush and you still have full TAC cover.
@@dirtbikeadv mmm i found it easier to get rex to map mine ,power is more than enough as for suspension i have had both end done cost about $1200 will more than match an xc but in sa i need a compliance plate.
That 350 sounds sweet. Like a 500
Sounds pretty good hey Steve, sound change some what after remap By rex.
@@bigals.ktms.9937 Yeah great bike the 350. Had a 350 XCF and loved it. Power of a 450 but agility of a 250
@@dirtbikeadv yer thats why I was surprised when u got rid of the beta 390.

Thanks for watching Steve it was a great fun ride, not like the full on rides I do normally.

Had to edit most of mark out hes funny thou
Shit that looks like fun! Are they all 500's? Great looking set ups.
The other 2 are 450s and mines a 350 but its been mapped by rex and feels more like a 450, hope u get out for a long ride soon mate.
What gearing do u use?
14 50
Some nice single track there.... many whoops?
You must be bored to see my stuff mate, not that many whoops realy we have prob 300kms of these tracks, 250kms away from adelaide thou. We spen alot of time in the past doing track maintenance.
