Wow.
Where can I get the chisel? That one you have is used that’s why it has cuts/dashes?
This is a Buck bros wood chisel. I recommend a 1½ to 2 inch wide (30-50mm)
Yes, I've carried this same API scraper/(wood chisel) for many years. I carry spares, but I've given them away many times.
Where can I buy that scrapper you have in the video?
Any 1½ to 2 inch (35-50mm) wide wood chisel will work. This particular brand and style (Buck bros) is a favorite of mine, but any local available wood chisel can be adapted. Perhaps I'll make a video about what is the same and what i have changed about these to use for inspection. Mr Eric
I appreciate highly...
Awsome stuff thanks
Glad you enjoyed it. Mr.Eric
What stops the fhing from ascending the platfotm and going down the stairs? Sytem seems dodgy AF.
Gravity is the main constraint.
What is the nominal thickness or the vessel? Were actual thicknesses taken (UT)?
Thanks
You're Welcome
Wooo!
Glad you liked it. Tell your friends and Co-workers
i am a very newbie in 510,570 ur videos and knowledge help me a lot, and many others for sure.
I'm glad that you find the information useful. If you have questions or comments, let's discuss. Mr.Eric
Very cool!
👏👌
The more ya know! Thx YO!
How do you assess corrosion to the bolt circle/outer flange ring? Min thickness as per B16.5?
Ah, the notorious Nope Slope of the North.... Nope, I won't go. Shit says resistant... I understand words. Not resitant enough.
??? was this in pasadena on red bluff rd???
Just typical H town activities...... lol

That's just excessive money spending. Anywhere there are polar bears are these things don't exist. I live near the arctic circle where polar bears show up randomly winter time. Ridiculous. You're food in a can in that thing.
These are easy advice the artic circle, and they have kept out the bears...... so far...13 years....
Note it's _resistant_ not _proof._
Would a Polar Bear be tall enough(on hind legs) to climb up on the side of the stair-cage and climb over the heavy railing and thus gain access to the elevated platform?
So far..... no
Can’t they just climb the railing?
Apparently no..... they haven't so far...... yet
Love the hand, and thank you for the great content, helping me lots.😊
You are so welcome! The printed hand was to keep my own from being used. Mr. Eric
proof oil and bearings are optional
Yep, Houston going Houston things.
Northstar Island has some horizontal fences that extend over the ledge of the concrete. Preventing bears from getting into the facility at all. Pretty neat.
Great modern design
That frozen latch on the gate looks sketchy af
Looks can be deceiving.... this has been effective.....so far.....
At least you can reach your hand through the bars so you can boop the bear's snoot! Aww, so cute! 😍
Right?! Though I'll not be doing anything like that...... not me.... lol
You go in the cage, cage goes in the snow, you go in the snow. Bear's in the snow, our bear.
What stops the bear from climbing up to the platform? Or is that higher than it looks? (About 7ft)
Not certain what keeps them from making an attempt.... perhaps desire... it is cold enough to keep most things uninterested in doing much
Why doesn’t it go up to the door
That's how it was built..... in Louisiana.......
Polar bears scare me. Nothing that big has any business being so stealthy.
I agree
Could you possibly go down there?! I would very much like a closeup video of that lock mechanism from the outside..
I would..... but I'll need you to check underneath first........
keeps out everything except for maybe a small bird.. DUDE!!! there's no door at the top!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just a little bit unsettling, isn't it?
Wudda been better if there was an actual polar bear in one of them.
That might be just a little too exciting....
Well, thank the Lord the small birds can get safety. Also, I'm surprised those stairs don't look too high. The bears won't try and climb?
What a grizzly scene!
Lol, I see what you did there.... lol 😉
Thanks for that I guess.. super interesting but with zero context or even why you had to build it is craaazy but I just smoked so... ik I'm not the only 1
Glad you enjoyed it!
In Norway we ate all the bears before the government caught on to make it illegal to hunt them.
Did y'all make rugs?
Perfect workplace to encounter "the thing."
Indeed
How about putting a thick metal fence around the facility instead of
Drifting snow.....and damage to the delicate tundra
Let’s address all the obvious comments. “Why can’t the bears simply climb the side railing?” The response is the same: “They haven’t demonstrated that ability yet.” YET. So the company’s health and safety attitude seems to be we’ll wait until the bears do demonstrate that ability, a worker dies and then we’ll extend the protection to the gangways. Perhaps a more enlightened attitude would be to address what “hasn’t been demonstrated yet” BEFORE it is demonstrated.
That might seem REALLY proactive for the H&S personal. They usually don't work on site, so perhaps that's the reason for the design and it's acceptance. Seems pretty safe from Houston.
Can he climb on that platform? I would put bars all around.
They have not done so....... yet
Cool, my brother works on the slope and I hadn't considered polar bear dangers. I hope his facility is safeguarded like this.
Uh oh, man on the video says the staircase is polar bear proof, video title says polar bear resistant. Hopefully something that made them do this change didn't happen between filming and editing. 😰
Well...... things happen. Just but here.... yet
Is this in Barrow or Nuiqsut?
No, this is near Deadhorse. Oil field facility.
I've seen a black bear opening bear proof latch with ease...
No black bears on the north slope of Alaska.
As a Canadian this is fascinating
So, what, a polar bear can't climb a ten-foot fence?
So far, none have demonstrated that ability.
what recommendations are you gonna give the client to fix or mitigate this?
Unfortunately, based upon the depth and extent of the corrosion the tank was recommended for replacement. Mr. Eric
We don't use the word "slope" anymore. It's bigoted and ignorant. We say Asian American.
But why? Determined grizzly bear is tall enough to go right up onto the upper walkway over the railing... pretty sure a polar would be big enough to reach it too.
A grizzly vs. polar bear ....So far, none have demonstrated that ability
