I’m sure if anyone would have told these guys that day “You will become one of the most revered metal bands in the history of metal.” they probably would have laughed you off, but this shit live from 96 still sounds better than half of all metal that was produced back then.

Just so you know, Ängelholm is not exactly a big town. And by then Meshuggah was not that well known in Sweden. Takes a bit of mind power to process these lads' show. Especially in the 90's. Too bad I was not there, but this show would have blown my mind in 1996. I found out about Meshuggah in 2003 and it certainly blew my mind. Of all places, the public library in my hometown in Sweden had some Meshuggah CD's. Blew my mind after the first 30 seconds of the first track. Reminds me of Deep Purple playing "Child In Time" live on the BBC in the 70's. The audience not having a clue of how to react to the live band, and probably very few knew the songs or knew who they were. Can't believe that nowadays in 2023 there are even audience members capable of headbanging in time to the band.

It's suprising watching people who don't headbang at "Humiliative" because of the uneven riffs and time signatures ( 4:43, nor even in one of the most iconic Meshuggah breakdowns 7:03) , but immediately after "Transfixion" starts (pretty 4/4 thrashy/punk signature song) a lot of people start to move. 9:09 This gives you a reference of how polyrhytmic and progressive music wasn't even recognized as it does now at that moment. Meshuggah... top 5 metal bands ever.
