    Hello Matilda / Galia. Question.At the very highest level,when receiving serve,what percentage of the time are you sure whether the server has used underspin or topsin,despite their (legal) attempts to conceal the contact. How often can you tell what spin was used?

    • @pingpongedTV
      @pingpongedTV 3 роки тому

      Hi! Thanks for a good question. The best servers makes it hard to ever be sure of the spin! Against those players I try to look on the bounce rather than their movement. After some time I get better at understanding the spin but sometimes it takes long. I would say I can almost always see if it is topspin or underspin but the question is how much sidespin there is. That makes a big difference. Hope that helps. One thing to try when you have problems is to hit the ball low and in the center of your own racket to make the spin react less/ Mati

    Thanks for the video. Could you tell me what are the strength points of this serve? Should I expect the return on my backhand side?

    • @pingpongedTV
      @pingpongedTV 3 роки тому

      Thanks fot your comment. Most of the time, if the serve is spinny enough and I serve diagonal - the opponent will receive it to my middle. I usually get ready to use my forehand after the serve. If I make the serve parallell, they are likely to play it to my forehand. But obviously this also depends of the opponent - how skilled they are and how strategic their mind is.

    • @PaulSilvaPage
      @PaulSilvaPage 3 роки тому

      @@pingpongedTV I tried to perform this serve on my section training. It is so hard 😂. Do you think the backhand serve could have the same affect?

    • @pingpongedTV
      @pingpongedTV 3 роки тому

      @@PaulSilvaPage Absolutely! I well performed backhand serve can be just as effective. Especially in times or among players where the backhand serve is less used. People tend to receive well against serves that everyone uses and worse against serves that are rarely used.
