Fish Bonanza Spearfishing!
When you can see thousands of baitfish with the drone exactly where you're gonna jump in the water, you know it's gonna be a good day spearfishing! This spot on Hitra in Norway is known to be good for small fish like cods and pollocks, but the larger ones normally stay away.

Every winter, there is a window where huge fish can be shot in an unusual type of spearfishing. We gave it a go! "Pipe diving" refers to spearfishing around pipes where discarded water from land based fish farms are flushed out to sea. Halibuts are not easy to find, and sometimes you have to use weeks to get one on the spear. On a work trip earlier this fall, I joined Martin for a dive in the northern part of Norway, and it was our only chance to get one. This time we went spearfishing during the night, only using polespears! The darkness adds a level of challenge, but we catch some delicious fish and have an unforgettable encounter with a friendly squid. A dive so fun, it was even worth changing in -15°C! Spear fishing? Nothing cruel about this!
Rå video! Og veldig bra fangst! For et sted. Har vært der to ganger, med svært dårlig sikt begge gangene (august i fjor, og for et par dager siden). Mye småsei og makrell utenfor pillar i sør - ingen storfisk. Forstår nå at de trolig står noe dypere enn jeg går (maks 10m, ca), og på helt spesifikke steder i strømmen .. Bra tips! Klør etter å komme seg uti igjen.

Dude ur a legend for diving that deep. The pressure is insane at that depth. Frekin ears hurt at 18 feet
Thanks man! Compared to many freedivers 20m is absolutely nothing, but you definitely gotta learn how to equalize your ears!

Cool Aksel - super fine film du laver! Jeg er så heldig at komme til Norge af og til med arbejde - jeg er netop begyndt at undervandsjage og skal til Bodø og jobbe om 3 uger. Dog ved jeg ikke helt om jeg føler, jeg er klar til at kunne undervandsjage i de omgivelser endnu.
Takk! Start i rolige omgivelser, så er det ingen problem! Tok faktisk min første kveite ved Bodø gjestehavn (har en short-video på det), og mange fine lyr:)

Absolutely thrilling adventure! The visibility might have been challenging, but the excitement of seeing those massive cod and monkfish up close is incredible. The dedication and skill required for spearfishing in such conditions really shine through. Can't wait for the next episode

Are there sharks there
The only one I’ve seen in Norway is spiny dogfish. Other than that we have some smaller sharks you can see, and some bigger once down in the deep(!) or far off-shore :)

are those kina at around 4:30 edible?
The red ones taste like banana peel, with a texture like boogie. There are green, smaller ones however, which are (said to be) a delicately in season:)

This was 30th of May, but we were absolutely lucky to avoid the worst algae bloom!
@@AkselOrstavik if I was there on May 17, the visibility was maybe one to two meters and the current killed us because of how strong it was

Man dude that video was dope, I’m not into free diving a whole lot considering I live in North Louisiana USA and all we have are dirty lakes, plenty of fish though. Love fishing and hunting.

@@AkselOrstavik Yeah hunting here especially in Louisiana is fun, so many deer, ducks, hogs (wild pigs), etc. We can take 6 deer per season

How do you swim up to the surface wihout pooping your lunges? Like technique
No special technique, as we’re freediving! When we draw our breath at the surface, our lungs are full (let’s say 5L). When we dive down to 10 meters, the lungs would be 2,5L. When swimming up to the surface, the lungs expand back to 5L. Same concept further down. For scuba diving it’s different. If you draw your breath at 10m and fill your lungs with 5L, and swim up without breathing out, the lungs would be 10L at the surface, which isn’t good;)

HOW do you avoid brainfreeze in this water?
The first minute is painful, but after that it’s surprisingly alright until it’s been an hour and a half;) good 7mm wetsuits help lots!

It’s more light than shows on the camera, and it’s less scary once you’ve been down there and seen what’s hanging out:)
