    Nice video. Sure, High end grow lights are more expensive than the units you have. But there are cheap units, cheaper than the setup you have collected that still provide more than adequate light for their intended suc use. Being a plant person, you really should dig in and learn about the led grow lights available. Just this week, I picked up 2 40w led’s that put out white, blue, red and ir. 2 pack for $30.00 Good luck. Looking forward to more videos.

    Really nice lighting set up. I don’t want a bunch of trays of succulents in my home. I love succulents for their beauty and their ability to thrive. I do not want something that looks like a succulent growing business. It seems to be impossible to keep succulents inside without some kind of special lighting set up unless your home was built to have magnificent outdoor lighting. Too bad that most grow lights are made to look industrial.

    This is so neat and exactly what i'm looking for! Thank you so much for the tutorial. May i ask what's the purpose of reducing the roots and what is the safe point of how much we can remove them in a way that we are not ruining the plant to the chance of dying?

    • @abigailgray5554
      @abigailgray5554 3 роки тому

      So glad you found it helpful! You don't have to remove the roots at all if you don't want to. I find that when I remove the roots, it reduces the amount of loose soil that ends up in the box. Succulents root super easily so I'm not too worried about taking off too much of the roots.

    Since this video is a year old, are your plants still happy under the Walmart lights?

  • @ItsChristy1
    @ItsChristy1 3 роки тому

    Thank you for the video! I have my succs on my dresser with cheap clamp grow lights from Amazon. Some are happy but others are so stretched. Plus I need more space! I want a setup just like this. Thank you so much for the links, it's great to know that I may not need specific "grow lights" with big price tags. These lights give the plants everything they would get from the sun?? Do you ever have problems with stretching? Your plants are gorgeous! Thanks!

    • @abigailgray5554
      @abigailgray5554 3 роки тому

      Yes, these lights have been lifesavers for me and my succulents! They absolutely thrive under them. I occasionally have some succs that stretch if they're on the outermost row of my seed starting trays. I just added a 2nd grow shelf to my plant room because I ran out of space on my first one... oops! But yes, a year later and the succs are just as happy as day 1!

  • @megl8756
    @megl8756 3 роки тому

    I really love your videos, specially the one when you say that suculents needs a enormous amount of light. I love suculents but they are not easy to grow if you don’t have lots of sunshine and sometimes it’s simple imposible to give them the amount of light that they need. I can grow some crassulas, haworthias, but not a graptopetalum paraguayense or a titubans, they just get etiolated with three hours of direct sunlight and I live in an apartment so i have them in the balcony. Many videos are like give them sunlight since sunrise till 12 am. And then on the afternoon filtered sunlight. I think that many many people watching Can’t do that. Now I’m trying with grow lights and that’s how I found your Chanel. So I love your approach and I expect you to do more videos, so sad I find them now and the last one it’s from six month ago. I hope you read this, thanks for shearing, you are su funny and realistic. Saludos de Buenos Aires, argentina

    I'm about to set up the same sort of thing in my office. Same shelving units -- two of them -- but I'll use Durolux 4x1.5 foot LED grow lights. I mostly grow cactuses, by I also have some succulents. I've been growing a lot of cactuses from seed because by ordering seeds online I can get species that aren't available in local stores. Anyway, I too have been putting my plants outside once it gets warm enough, and until now I've just been putting them on windowsills when I brought them inside, but now I have too many for that.
