Pretty Rainbows
This is a song written by my long time collaborator, Nathan Douglas. Nathan wrote the lyrics, melody, and chords and this is my interpretation of his song. Nathan hired me to work on at least a hundred songs of his over the course of several years in Long Beach, CA and we worked with dozens of local artists to bring them to life in my studio, The Grove, a detached old carriage house leant to me by kind strangers and patrons of the arts Richard and Therese.

Can't Quit You An author hired me to turn some lyrics into a song for a book she is writing. I did an acoustic arrangement originally and then years later (now) offered to do a fully produced version for free just because I wanted to. This is the result. #singer #songwriter #podcast #music #noahgrove #live #songs #singing #guitar #independent #indie #community #creator

hello can i use piano instead guitar?
should be able to, anything that runs sound through a 1/4 inch instrument cable should work
Will and Tim are awesome!!!
they are charming fellas, and they make some great music!
Can you add chorus to the vocals?
I don’t think so, pretty sure just to the guitar
a good demo thanks! i would pay a little more to have also an interface here too as in one model. There is no place for guitar though😢
Thanks man. I’m still using this unit for all my gigs and don’t see why I’d switch. It’s an incredible value. Time and space saver.
Doesn't sound your style but your voice fits for that kinda sound
thanks Zac, and thanks for listening
Thank you for the video. Should I plug my guitar directly into the VE2 and then into my pedals or first into the my pedals and then into the VE2?
I would go into your VE-2 first or early in the chain. I would want my VE-2 to have a nice strong signal/level from the guitar. But if you’re throwing heavy distortion or something like that might make it harder for VE-2 to evaluate what chords you’re playing. What’s your pedal chain?
@@booknoahgrove It’s actually pretty simple. An Acoustic Guitar and a MVave Cube Baby with IRs.
@@carlodeluca I might go after the Cube Baby. VE-2 is going to work best with clean and clear levels from your guitar.
@@carlodeluca a little bit of delay and/or reverb shouldn't be a problem, but I'd suggest playing around with it and seeing what results you get with your settings
@@booknoahgrove After? It wouldn’t be cleaner before the effects? Although I know that the VE2 would bypass the guitar, I have an impression that it would affect the sound. I will buy my VE2 tomorrow.
Nice Noah!
thanks DW!
Ok , so I think I’m grasping the concept … sounds like a cool idea..seems like it will take some time to grow it, hope you stick with the idea.. it’s a perfect “step in the right direction” for guys like me that are just learning, and still haven’t performed to any kind of “live” audience.. I’m kind of a techno caveman tho. Not sure I have the gear necessary to do it?
If you can record videos, then you can do it!
@@booknoahgrove cool
@@booknoahgroveI’m watching thru the stream now.. really looks like fun , loved when u joined in on rocket man ! Too much fun, man .. I was grinning ear to ear..
I'm excited, it was a blast even with just two other participants. @@dwstoeckel4740
glad you enjoyed that, fun moment lol@@dwstoeckel4740
Whats the song you are playing ? Sounds beautifull
The Way You Look Tonight by Frank Sinatra! thank you!
Interesting seeing some one wearing mask when it is no longer required. Especially someone who came from places where people were not willing to wear mask during covid time.
In China, masks are very common. Lots of people wore masks before COVID to protect themselves against air pollution. I wear it sometimes in China for a number of reasons. It helps keep your face warm when it’s cold outside. It protects against air pollution and especially if I’m going to be in smushed seas of people in the subways or Beijing it really does make it less likely to get sick in general. And it helps obscure my face and blend in. I get tired of having people stare at me or want to talk to me because I’m not Chinese. Just want to go about my day like everyone else sometimes. Masks were a very interesting social issue. I’ve got a lot of thoughts about them.
Thank you !
Don’t spose you can use an external camera?
I haven't tried but I just looked at the video settings options and it didn't look an option
Sooo good!!! Love all these songs and your unique flair to them… well done, Noah!
thanks Tracey :-)
Loved this video!
thanks Nik :-)
theres a tuner when you hold mix i believe also
I think you might be right, I saw some moving lights when I had it muted at a gig the other day, was probably the tuner, if so that's awesome
Please accept this as the most sincerest of compliments ...... my friend, you keep me interested in things I’m not normally interested in... I always watch your videos all the way to the end. Enjoy your vids tremendously
that's a great compliment indeed, appreciate it DW, thanks man, glad to hear it
You gonna do some busking while you’re out?
Ya know, Quebec City would've been an absolutely awesome place to busk. I don't know what the busking regulations are there but if we ever go back I'll bring a guitar. No plans to busk here in China. I'm guessing it's not permitted as there is no one doing it. Last time here I did get a four times a week gig.
@@booknoahgrove sweet! Have a great time…
thanks man!@@dwstoeckel4740
Good to see ya having some fun!! Road trip!
I listen to it almost every morning ..gd motivation for me ♥️
<3
get it Nailah!!
I love this song
Super impressive
Thanks Eddie
Love the video love it when people actually think and talk and discuss …society lately it’s just “agree with me or I’ll cancel you”. For me the solution seems really simple yet totally impossible ..I believe every single problem this world has , could be solved if each and every person simply cared as much about the people standing around them, as they care about themselves.. every single issue we have would one by one be solved everything from environmental problems wars starvation we could solve it all if everyone simply cared as much about the ones around them as they do themselves Just my belief
I think you’re right
You said what you needed to say, and you put it to music…. That makes it perfect. I enjoyed that.
thank you DW :-) thanks for listening
Just got one of these and found a really cool way to use it. If you turn the balance all the way clockwise and set it for a harmony one octave above, you can hit the high notes on falsetto tunes. works quite well. I've also done it an octave lower just to hit the low notes on Folsom Prison Blues.
🌸 Promo*SM
He never actually uses it.
I used it all the time just not in the video as it's a review not a demo. But I made this video a few years ago and I'm sure to include demos now when I make videos like this.
“One person’s experience, on one particular day”... .... and “watch your audience”........solid advice that I’ll take to heart if( when) I ever leave my spare bedroom.. 😎👍🏻

I’ll try to catch this one from the start… 😁👍🏻
I missed most of the stream, caught the end.. thought it was all very cool. Sounded great and was an enjoyable watch. I hope this thing takes off for you and the bands you’re bringing in !
thanks man, thanks for checking it out
😎👍🏻
Is there a way to set up a notification as it’s happening? As I am old, and forgetful…
yes! I just set it up, if you go to the live section on my UA-cam page you should see the upcoming streams and be able to click notify www.youtube.com/@booknoahgrove/streams

Always appreciate the advice of experienced musicians... thx Noah
I’m really liking your channel. This was helpful to a guy like me.. (a guy that’s still learning) appreciate you sharing your experience. I bought the OC5 shortly after you , and I agree it’s an awesome pedal. !
glad you're finding it useful, will keep trying to make helpful videos!! Indeed, can't hate on the OC-5 at all
thanks for sharing! we travelling from the UK and looking for gigs in Charleston in February. I'll definitely check out these venues.
Awesome! Y’all should play Awendaw Green.
awendawgreen@gmail.com email Eddie
If you want to send me some performance videos of y’all’s music I can think of some more possibilities for you - noah@noahgrove.com
that's kind of you, thank you@@booknoahgrove
there are a LOT of places to play here, but Feb isn't far off and a lot of places will already have their calendars getting full, but yea would love to listen to yall and see if it gives me any ideas
Looking forward to seeing what you have coming up! I hope you still will find some time to live loop occasionally, maybe just build yourself a small self contained rig that’s set up just for solo live looping performances? If it’s a zero set up time , you may still do it occasionally?
On the power supply is the center of the barrel positive or negative? How many amps should it be rated at?
Man I really don't know the answer to those questions, not an electrician, just figured this out and it worked for me
Noah, positively beautiful ❤️
thanks Holly!

Nice! Having my morning coffee, and enjoying some new Noah music...
Great review! Thanks Noah. Hope they take your advice and add a looper. Would certainly lighten the load for a lotta performing musicians...
thanks DW, yep a looper would make this a no competition must have for every solo performer IMO
Hey nice set today! I enjoyed it ! Looking forward to the next one....
Thanks DW 🤘🎶
Well I don’t think I’ve ever heard your band.. quite good! And Nice save when the power went out.!! 😎👍🏻

How
Are
So , no vocals into your mixer?... I’m very inexperienced w this stuff,
Lots of people do but I don’t
I mix my vocal level on the Perform VG
@@booknoahgrove I’m asking , because I’m running instruments into looper ( rc 500) , then out to mixer... I’ve been told to go the other way , but then my vocal would be “in the guitar loop” if I’m recording the loop while singing...or is that wrong??
@@dwstoeckel4740 you can do it that way, but I don’t like to because then you get live mic sounds mixed into your loops
@@dwstoeckel4740 to expand, birds flying by, cars, just the white noise of the mic, if you overdub a few times in a row it can get very cluttered and muddy and even start to feedback. If you do a live mic into your loops, you need to be sure it’s a VERY clean feed and probably the gain needs to be low. Running instruments direct, you can overdub 100 times on a loop and still have a clean mix. So I just made the choice to not use vocals in my loops.
I caught some of this live stream… great performance as always.. ( just a bit glitchy at times , but watchable… always love the bill withers tune 14:45 .. and I finally figured out that it just takes a thumb swipe to adjust the view, rather than swiveling my whole phone around…😂
thanks for checking it out man, yeah, I figured I'd try it over cell data (i have cheap data) just to see, but it's a bit spotty. I probably won't stream gigs again unless I've got a WiFi connection, glad you were able to enjoy it though!
