Underpressure in the tires certainly does not help friction, not in the summer, not in the winter. And there is much bigger risk of aquaplanning, because of the grooves changed shape and size due to underinflation. Tires are designed to work best at a certain pressure, and too little or too much makes them underperform. Also where is the fun in the snow? I only see some slow city driving in slush..

Very recently had the choice between the Golf R and the Golf GTE. Im so glad i choose the Golf R. I will happily pay more for fuel and tax just for that facemelting 0-60 and the DSG farts. The GTE is more economic to run but you wont have the same smile on your face thinking about how much money you safe than the smile i have pushing the Engine Start button.

2019 vw atlas. Just last week on I-85 the frontal accident avoidance system definately saved us from a collision. We've had the car 5 years. This is the first time it activated and it worked flawlessly. I always thought that would just mitigate an accident but this saved us for sure. We know full well to get the big picture and always drive way ahead of us to avoid an accordian effect of hard stops. This was heavy traffic and we'll never know what happened ahead of us but it was a classic accordian caused probably by someone ahead not keeping a safe following distance. One vehicle two spots ahead of us dove for the left brakedown lane (a heads up move), the car ahead slammed the brakes and our Atas jumped into action saving us from a total wreck. I'm a believer.

That is 0.6 liter to gain 10 kilometer electric range" That means if you take 1.6 euro for a liter of petrol and multiply it by 0.6 liters you get 0.96 euro per 10km, half what it costs at the charger, plus you warm up your oil/cat faster

You must not charge in the city. Of course the consumption will be high. I have passat GTE and on battery hold it has 7l/100km consumption without charging from plug. And if I charge on the highway, it consumes 8,5l/100km. And the battery is fully charged in 80km or so. So I can charge full battery for less than 1,5 litres of gas, which is 3 euro. And charging at home costs 2 euros, and charging at station costs 6 euros. So the charge mode is quite cheap if you use it smart. If I charge on the highway and then drive on EV in the city, I get around 5-6l/ combined consumption. If I charge at home and drive on hybrid I get 2-3l/100km. Or 0l only on EV, but thats only 30-40km range.

A Golf with a 1.0 tsi engine is consuming less. Whats wrong with GTE?

Can you help, I test drove a Hatchback GTE, and it has the button for Lane Assist, but when I press it. The only option that comes up is Front Assist. I assumed that every car that has that button comes with Lane Assist. Is the hardware there and maybe locked by VW or does it need the front camera etc?

it is a very good feature to ensure that the ICE operates throughtout a certain time and does not have to start & stop too often. this is important for example to reach operation conditions where the engine oil can sufficiently regenerate.

I have the gte 7.5 in Hybrid it should consume less? On high way and express ways. Or is on highway gte mode thesame consume als "hybrid"? In reality on highway you drive too fast for hybride, so it is the 1.4

You can do thesame bu driving in MANUEL? 🤷‍♂️ You just flip back in lower gear. Or is B a better way? Ps: ik spreek Nederlands 😉

Great videos! Question: is driving in B mode more efficient then D mode? Meaning the battery will last longer? Does it depend on where its used? inner city or highway? Would be very interessting to see the different in battery consumption/regeneration between the two modes. Keep it up!

Thinking about buying one within 2 weeks, i love your videos, 1 question.. What is the best mode to drive in the highway in the Netherlands?

For the 10km charge to cost 8Euro, you would've had to drive 100KM, because you said your gas consumption increased by 5L per 100km. Did you drive 100km to get those 10km of batery range? I highly doubt it. You drove for 18min, in the city, with a lets say a generous 50kph average speed, so you covered around 15km. If for 100km you'd use up 5L more gas (14 vs 9), then for those 15km you used 0.75L more gas than average. At your stated price of 1.6E, that means it cost you 1.2Euro in gas to charge those 10Km of battery range. Thats slightly above double what the electric current costs you. Nowhere near your 20times. Also, 18min to get 10km of battery is probably half as much time as it would take if you plugged in. Twice as fast for double the price.

You literally parked on the grandma eye closed spot. Next time pick a bit more challenging spot or decent at least in midd two cars.

Its a shame you cant switch between different modes without using the screen. My screen stops working everytime its cold, so only options are battery hold, GTE or eMode. I dont understand why hybrid auto isnt the standard setting instead of battery hold..

Hey goede video! Heel duidelijk! Maar ik zit met een vraag. Ik heb een GTE uit het jaar 2017. Wanneer ik de auto in battery hold mode zet. Gebruikt hij toch nog een klein beetje stroom van de accu. Ook wanneer ik op de snelweg rijdt en gaat mijn actieradius dus alsnog naar beneden. Is dit normaal?

I have a GTE as well. What is the lever that we have on the rim of the trunk? (You can sort of see in the video too, Right in the back, where the trunk closes). There is a hidden black lever that you can pull upwards. What does it do?
