I have the same fridge but don’t care for the ice maker since this is my garage refrigerator. But I am getting the rust and a 1-inch thick of ice forming on the rear exterior. Would putting just the foam backing help ?

Hey, I am currently dealing with the same issues. Could you please explain to me exactly what causes this problem. I have a home warranty and they are saying that the problem is cosmetics not a mechanical failure. Something is freezing up behind the ice maker and I need to know what failed back there?

Thank you for this video! We live in the boonies of the Blue Ridge mountains in Virginia Aside from the expense, it takes forever to get someone here to do any repairs. I was able to follow your video and instructions easily and found the actual black drain pipe below the freeze drain was clogged. Cleaned it and reattached, problem solved. Thanks again for the very instructive video!

Thanks for this great video! After finding the rust disaster on mine I ordered the kit and installed it today. My 1st issue was the harness was so short on this new assembly I decided to leave it out of the plastic stand off. Hopefully that won’t be an issue down the road. (Fridge is 10 yrs old) second difficulty was getting the new unit to fully seat near the top. It finally managed to seat properly but man was that a pain. I decided to take some of the rusted part of the thin metal off, placed a new piece of sheet metal over the hole and secured with silicone and metal tape. Then I placed the weather stripping over that and covered with more metal tape. Crossing my fingers this gets us by for a few more years at least!

In my Frigidaire (side by side Model (FFHS2611LBRA) I see water draining from the bottom not from inside the fridge through the doors. could that be a drain pan that is rusted out. Sometimes that water is brownish. In my old Kenmore the drain pan was metal and had developed some holes. is the current models metal pan and if so how to replace/ fix by patching any cracks. The leak is not continuous and occurs around every 24-40 hours. I am suspecting the drain pan either over flowing or has a crack that causes the leak. Any help appreciated. Thanks!

I got the parts for the 1st fix in 22 and only just used last month. I’m still getting ice buildup on back and reduced some accumulation of ice buildup under the ice maker in cold food section - ice maker works fine. Do you the ice maker gasket could solve the buildup of ice in the cold food section? Could I use the gasket & coil cover without replacing the ice maker?

My washer wont start up or enter diagnostic mode. None of the LEDs light up and when it's plugged in it just makes a clicking noise every 5-6 seconds. Could this be the actuator as well or a main control panel problem?

Same problem but we just defrosted the back ice and water lines with a hair dryer and then put the foam on the back of the fridge. So far so good. Frigidaire should send the kit for free! Thanks Ray!

One lower center and behind the ice maker in upper right (of back). What is the source and fix for the lower rust site? It seems to be between the freezer and fridge….maybe the valve back there? Where is that water supposed to go if it goes to drain pan if it don't freeze.

What would cause the ice maker to freeze up solid and have ice on the inside of the door where the ice dispenses from?

is it normal for a brand new fridge to do this? Because ours is..
