My name is Paul and I'm a moto-camping enthusiast who's eager to experience new adventures and share all that I learn about motorcycle camping. My two wheeled adventures began on a Honda CRF250L which once loaded up with gear didn't really have a whole lot to offer in terms of power and performance. After 6 months with the Honda I was hooked and decided to purchase my Tenere 700 and it has been an amazing machine to grow on.
On this channel, you can expect to find videos about my motorcycle camping trips, including everything from packing and preparing for a trip, to setting up camp and exploring new destinations. I'll also be sharing tech tips and tricks for maintaining and upgrading your motorcycle, as well as reviews of the gear and equipment that I use on my adventures.
Whether you're a seasoned pro or just getting started with motorcycle camping, I hope my videos will inspire you to hit the road and explore the world on two wheels.

"Better late than never" they say! Today’s video throws us back to our first two-nighter of 2024 in mid-May. Picture this: bugs that could carry you away, trails that were basically nature’s obstacle course, and a whole lot of swampy bypasses and for good measure, a beaver dam crossing. In short, it was awesome. Enjoy the chaos, the beauty, and the ridiculousness. And don't forget to subscribe ...

I remember watching this video when you first posted it and today my replacement clutch cable arrived ready to fit on my T7 tomorrow! This video will be a perfect guide for me! Thanks for the great, easy to follow content 👍🏼
Glad I could help with the task. Have a great weekend.
@@adv4me did the job yesterday and it was so simple with the video to help, I really appreciate the tip to tape the cables together to make routing the new one easier! Saved me a lot of time. Thanks again :)
I wonder if 3-part rear fairing would fit the rest of original fairings.
Do you have the bike “tuned” for any exhaust mods or is it all stock?
My bike is stock in terms of mapping. I’ve only added the Huzar exhaust and it’s been great.
@@adv4medid you get rid of the cat as well?
@@mminton88 never touched the cat.
You have helped me so much to find a choice on what gift I’m getting my girlfriend. She loves espresso and she loves camping. I’m trying to find her the best way to make herself a little espresso when we’re camping. Btw, I’ve decided on the Prolex mini ii for her grinder. If anyone knows of a grinder that’s smaller, lighter, reliable, and can make espresso grind faster… LET ME KNOW PLZZZZZ. Great video, my man
That is awesome! I just finished a 2400km trip through Wyoming on my motorcycle and I used it everyday! It’s my luxury item when I moto camp. 🏕️
Split link chain ⛓️💥 🙀
Just beat on it for 2300 km of off road abuse. No issues, but I’ll likely switch it over to the rivet link. Just have to order the tool.
Hi. Is there anyway to do it without the seal driver?
Yes. There is a duct tape method, where you wrap a good amount of it around the fork tube and I’ve also seen guys use a piece of pvc pipe.
Great video. Can you share where you ordered all the parts and tools etc.
Thank you for showing how to do the job. I can see why it is expensive to get the job done…
Your better to remove the shock first, remove the 3 bolts on the 2 trim piece under front of seat, then you can get to the upper shock bolt.
Hello from Kitchener..

Safe trip, thanks for the information
Good vid, I`m going to check my front sprocket to see if it is loose before my week long trip to Newfoundland. Cheers!
I honestly thought I was spinning the shaft. Safe travels
I just gotta tell ya man, you are my garage hero. Your wrenching vids are excellent (I watched your vid for installing the Camel rear brake lever and it was super helpful) - when I saw you doing this one I was super excited because I wanna do this same job this coming winter. Excellent content, bravo. (Holy Shnikies, I hope my front sprocket is not that loose - WTF Yamaha???) lol. Are there any risks/advantages to using the clasp on the master link as opposed to using a chain tool and flattening the riviets?
Thanks for the kind words. Trying to be more consistent with the vids. Running out of things to do lol. Happy wrenching.
Sorry I missed your question in your message. If you have the tool I would go ahead and use the rivet style link. With that said I have yet to hear of someone having one fail.
Thanks for all your video shares! Superb bike.
Paddy mountain road. That's my old stomping ground. We took a dodge power wagon across that with chains on all 4 tires to rescue my 84 Ford ranger over on cherry run road I lost over the bank by the old stone cabin. About 30 years ago or more.
I am doing the same setup, would you be able to send me the wiring diagram you found? Thank you!
Shoot me an email @ Paulrthurlow@gmail.com and I’ll send it to you
Good job, did you used to ride 2 stroke street bikes. You're use of the names "belly pan" and "expansion chamber" had me thinking of an RZ350 :-)
Maybe in a past life. I was a late bloomer into the world of motorcycles due to a wife that was hesitant granting the clearance :) I’ve only been riding since I was 45, now approaching 50. I wish I had more space and more money as I’d love to have a few more bikes in the stable.
Thx man! On high speed freeway 80 mph +. Is the high bender a sail!
I was cruising at 130km and didn’t notice anything different.
I love your bike colors.
Doing this every 19 000km sounds like a PITA 🫤
It’s really not that bad honestly.
Exactly what I needed, thanks bro!!
Glad I could help!
So did you just cut out sections of your barkbusters or your handguards to shove them in there?
No. They are surface mounted and they have two screws securing them. 19k of abuse and they are still perfect.
your water for the nano was probably much cooler?
This trip we left Burlington and headed up to Bancroft and surrounding areas. So many great spots to ride up there. This trip was around 1000km
Nice video.. where about were you? That first spot looked nice..
Hi. Can you list the accessories you have mounted on your bike please?
Have a look at this video. What's your favourite Farkle? My Yamaha Tenere 700 has seen 47 different modifications. Too many? ua-cam.com/video/NlrmiosUHyA/v-deo.html
Now it’s time to personalise it making new stickers!
The sad part its not compatible with World Raid is it so hard to make an adapter for the holes? 🙄
really?
@@mertcankara7370 yeah there is a different distance in the holes 🙄but that can't stop me I will go in a cnc factory to cut a custom aluminium bracket 😎
Purchasing coffee gadgets/equipment has nothing to do with "need". Js.
Ha ha ha! Most definitely..
I've done the same with my brother. Not easy job. Thanks for the video.
As soon as I saw the Tenere 700 I knew I'd trust whatever you recommend.
Wow. I love this video.
I'm glad you like :)

Keeping it real! Love it. Great inspiration as we take on our first Baja trip
Baja! Nice….. a group of us are hitting Wyoming in September. Can’t wait for that one. Only 95 more sleeps 🤪
Very nice review- thanks! Other videos show that it comes with a felt zipper case- is that standard or special order as I did not see it in your review.
Mine only came with the nylon pouch. I ordered the case but don’t use it as it adds a bit of bulk.
@@adv4me but protective on those bumpy moto trips I would guess 😊
It’s pretty robust, and it’s packed in a packing cube with my kitchen gear. Several trips now and no issues 😊
I think putting the quick link at the bottom and the hook at the top might work better. I have a similar set up. I use a crate just lower than skid plate and secure with turn buckles. It's doesn't move at all! And you don't compress your suspension.
Thanks for the advice. I have made yet another modification and created metal sleeves that slip over the pegs, that have a tab on the bottom that the quick link secures to. Further there are safety pegs that slip through the pegs.
How do you get the chains hooked up with the milk crates under the bikes?
The bike sinks into the bottom of the crate when you lay over the bike. The crate has a good amount of flex.
I did this to my utility trailer, but I use one quick pull strap on one peg to the front of the trailer to pull the front tire into it. Keeps the front wheel from turning and the bike from rocking forward and back. I don't use a crate though, the bike will slightly lean when cornering but its plenty secure. Keeps pressure off the front forks vs strapping down from the forks or bars.
I'm running a simple strap now through the wheend that touch the cab. Prevents the bikes from moving back. Guess I'm not strapless now hahaha
@adv4me the original video I saw that I got the idea from used a 3rd chain from the front of the truck bed to one of the pegs. I just didn't want to buy another chain when I could just use one simple strap. It's still much faster and easier to load and secure over strapping the front end.
@@JoeButler02 I hear you. I didn't realize chain was so bloody expensive.
great idea and makes loading and unloading quicker. I would be concerned long term with the anchor points flexing and causing the thin bed sheet metal to fatigue with just the small backing plates. You could fabricate a much larger backing plate or possibly run some larger angle iron between each anchor point to spread the loading on the bed floor
Yep. Thats exactly what I am doing. This as you said will spread out the anchor load as much as possible.
I was very disappointed that you didn't officially bless this configuration by saying "that ain't goin' no were!"
Lol. I said that exact phrase today after making another modification hahaha...
Sweeet !
Essentially, you have chains instead of straps.
It’s more about the time it takes to secure the bikes. Last trip I had to pull over as one of the bikes was slowing falling over. It’s like the George Foreman now “set it and forget it”. It takes literally two minutes to get the bikes in. No need to load up the suspension and mess around with adjusting straps.
You need more lighting.
Haha. I prefer to be seen when I’m out on the road and lighting is key. Drivers today as you know are way too distracted and creating more visual presence is key.
Awesome vid! Did you guys ride it clockwise or counterclockwise?
Thanks. We did it counter clockwise
Interesting idea
Hello i have a question. When you use distilled water to clean out the system, do you put the reservoir back in place? Or do you do this whole process with the reservoir removed?
You can do it with the reservoir on if you’d like. I only fill it up to the point that the water starts to travel through to the overflow. With that said I do clean the reservoir out as well.
Thank you for the video, it was really informative.
Glad it was helpful!
Stupid question: I replaced the water pump bolts on my T7 (long story) so all the coolant came out. Do I need to put more coolant in the coolant reservoir and the radiator or just the reservoir? Before you make fun of me, I did already acknowledge it is a stupid question 🙂
You will want to fill the system with 1.6 liters and the reservoir with .25 liters. Start with the radiator first. Happy wrenching
