Andor is good. The Mandalorian is (mostly) good. But how did we get to this "Golden Age" of Star Wars television? By going through A LOT of rough patches along the way. Subscribe for more like this, exploring the less documented corners of your favorite fandoms.

"Star Wars: The Lost Cut" Explained
Переглядів 798 тис.4 роки тому
Yeah, I know I sound like a goober in this. Try to enjoy it anyway it still makes me money ;) A comprehensive exploration at the mythical "Lost Cut" of the original Star Wars. Featuring rare footage, audio and behind-the-scenes information. ('4K77' Project used for theatrical footage) Instagram: filmspaced?hl=en Twitter: FilmSpaced
How did you get these clips if they are buried in some archive?
I would love to see disenchantment returning one day as a tv special or crossover with futurama/the simpsons. The problem is Netflix and Disney. To be honest i like disenchantment much more than the hulu revival of futurama and modern apu-less simpsons.
There’s a recreation of the lost cut drive.google.com/file/d/12M29rbUphnxCQsxErVYr2E_fNxUe1N-t/view?usp=drivesdk
It’s the music by John Williams that brings all these scenes in Star Wars to life and elevates it
8:05 this bar appeared in the book of boba fett
I think I like theatrical best
Did Tony do the French dubs in the movies then?
Wish i could watch Star Wars. I hate Lucas so much.
Funny how Jar Jar gets scolded by Mars Guo. Years later, he'd fall in love with another of Mars' species XD
The content deserves better narration. The monotone prattling gets boring quickly.
Great vid, needs more views. Even though I liked Disenchantment, I can't help but feel like the show was harmed overall by being on Netflix instead of an over-the-air network like Fox. Futurama and the Simpsons both benefitted hugely by just being on all the time, everywhere. You grow an attachment to Fry, Homer, Bart and Bender just through cultural osmosis, memes etc. Disenchantment just never got that chance.
I wonder which race is the most dangerous Boonta Eve (Star Wars) or F-ZERO Grand Prix (F-ZERO series)
Awesome video! Thank you man
For all the ten-year-olds like me watching Star Wars for the first time in a crowded movie house in 1977, who grew up with very few quality sci-fi movies and shows--believe me--the Battle of Yavin with all those fighters attacking the Death Star was not "too long" a sequence. It was the exciting end to a well-invested conflict from the audience's perspective. And the award ceremony was a joyous payoff for the two-hour ride the audience had experienced. At the time, the theatrical release was the best! As a child, I didn't care what the film critics said. For a whole generation of kids, Star Wars was our movie.
You assume an awful lot...and Rogue One and all things SW past the original are subpar, including Empire and Jedi, which are really just one movie cut in half, something I booed in the theater (and I was there for the original's debut, I still have a lot of lobby cards and huge posters. Plus, later I had a Revenge of the Jedi poster sent to me by the studio, but I sold that. STILL have my original Force Be With You button!!)
1:23 “lookie there its elon musk!” I kno its already posted. I just wanted ontop so i can sho my friends without digging thru a thousand comments
The original Alan Dean Foster novelization that was released in November of 1976, is mostly based on this cut, as was the Brian Daley radio drama (with some minor changes, such as switching out Jabba with another one of his more competent henchman, a character named “Geeter?” in the confrontation at Mos Eisley). The first comic adaptation is also closer to the novelization somewhat than the movie.
So the lost cut is basically a long rambling mess, which makes me of the “Turkish Star Wars”!
Biggs sounds like Phil Hartman.
instantly loved your channel, started with the Tracey Ullman show breakdown and just got hooked after this one with your narration style and the amount of research and relevant information you give. One of my favorite lines you used on this video that I can best help to describe the tone and timing of your work was "...at least that's the way I interpreted it." Instant Fan, much respect and best wishes from Deep in the Heart of Texas! Cheers! I think I'd love to watch the Lost Cut for the Obi-Wan/Luke intro as well as the original voices for Vader and Chewie, Priceless.
Well I'm one of those folks that saw it first time around.....when it was just STAR WARS. There were no home computers and no instant communication back then, so we got our Star Wars fix from magazines and poster books. I only recently lost (thanks to a horrible ex) an original poster book from the time which explained Vader's back story. He was a totally separate character back then, with no Skywalker link, but was referred to as The Dark Lord of the Sith. He had to wear the life support suit after falling into lava during a light sabre battle many years before the events in Star Wars.
David Prowse on set reverberating in that helmet and with his line placement give Vader a Werner Herzog vibe vocally. Which I kinda love.
"......BANG!......"
I like all the info & lost scenes, but dude, that monotone delivery and run-on sentencing has got to go!!
I do like the idea that Luke sees the battle with the Blockade Runner. Stars fighting in the sky. Gives actual meaning to the title "Star Wars".
Just like the Phantom Menace...but this was saved. Having that producer leave over creative differences is like the giant missing puzzle piece on how we went from this and ESB to ROTJ. And I do love all 3.
Han shot ONLY.
Ah man, now I really want to watch this movie again. The sound design is so on point, these prequels were so much more better than people think. 😙
You know the original Greedo scene kinda makes it make more sense why Lucas wanted to change it. Originally it was made 100% explicity clear that Greedo was going to execute Han if he didn't do something, but in the theatrical its more of an implied threat. I could see why Lucas would be bothered and want it to be more explocit like it originally was and so added the quick shot.
This is such a wonderful understanding of how the Simpsons came to be... appreciate you insights. Love your delivery. Thank you!💕
whole scene was incredibly well done, but i think it would have been a lot better if they completely cut all of the announcers/audience scenes aside from anakin's mom and r2d2/c-3po. the announcers and jokes always kind of cheapened it for me.
Was that a real invite..? 🙋♀️
Try speaking into your microphone next time instead of panning hard right in it.
Awesome, looks professional. I loved the storyline too.
I’d like to see how Michael Bay directed this film. Or a new Star Wars or Marvel film
One of the things Hardly ANYBODY REMEMBERS is that a DELETED SCENE WITH BIGGS *WAS* IN THE ORIGINAL...For a few weeks? ... The way I heatd it was that movie theaters got replacement film reels continuously because they got brittle quickly ...so SrarWars was TweeKeD even After the First Reels Went Out. ...So People who saw it in the First Weeks IN THE THEATER Got To SEE BIGGS Before Mos Eisley. (I thought the scene was overlooking mos eisley before they left...but my memory could be wrong)
9:55 is so satisfying
I wish someone would stitch together this lost cut so we could watch it somehow, in the same way that Harmy despecialized the trilogy using various available sources.
20:59 Who would had thought that Lemmy Kilmister did voices for the original Star Wars back in 1977
And R2 stands for 2 Rs, Ryan Reynolds, you're right! D2 is Deadpool 2! We can only imagine what he's whistle clicking and chattering about. I thought he sounded like a chipper Canadian. Spunky foul-mouthed little dude. Canadian, it's all Greek to me.
mate this video deserves more views, what an edit
33:09. It's been 4 years. Where are the Empire and Jedi videos?
Damn not a rogue one fan? It easily beats most of what Lucas made in quality and fixes one of the worst bits of bad writing in the OT
I've never seen the deleted scenes before. And I had always wondered why Sebulba's pod never used the flamethrower weapon that he had in the video game. Turns out he did- twice! But both scenes were cut..... Lame.
4:16 to 4:20 I love that deleted scene exclusive sound you hear when it is showing those specific engines firing up
good job, thanks!
possibly one of the best SW post-mortem docu’s ever : many thanks ! good story telling - GL could have profited from your insight ❤😅😊
They criticized Pod Racing in this film, but the theatrical version is the shorter version
the newer versions just DRAG on...
