Erin Adams: Living the Dream in a Tiny House!
Приєднався 28 сер 2016
As a Professor of Interior Design at Western Carolina University, I have always encouraged my students to respect the environment, make sustainable design choices and think outside of the box when it comes to creative design solutions. I have taught them that there is no one standard design solution that can be applied to every living situation, and that building bigger doesn't necessarily have to equate to building better. Then it occurred to me that I should just put my money where my mouth is, and show them exactly what I was talking about! After spending almost two years researching and creating the design of my tiny house on wheels, I have finally begun the downsizing process and started construction of my tiny house. This is the account of my journey, in choosing to no longer be HOUSE-POOR, but be LIFE-RICH! Stay tuned and subscribe to my channel to join me on this exciting journey!
After a year of waiting, I have FINALLY moved into the tiny house!!
After waiting for almost an entire year, my infrastructure has FINALLY been completed and I have moved into the tiny house!

👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾❤️
How are you? Please give an update! Sending positives.
I just came across your video, and what a wonderful tiny home! I was so excited to see updates, and to my utter horror, NOTHING! How's life been after 3 years?
This is an amazing build! I truly love it all! And what a location! Any plans to do an updated video?
Beautiful house....how are you liking it ? Is there anything you wish you had done differently after living in for a few years?
The space over your bed idea was brilliant. Crawling to bed is not my idea of a good time. Nor is changing sheets on my knees.
Thank you so much, Kid and you're right… it makes a HUGE difference in my world!!
Please give an update!
Thanks to Pinterest I’ve come across you. You have done an amazing design job for this house. Frankly THE best I have seen. I will be using many of your ideas. Thank you so much for sharing!!!! 🥰😘
Hi Erin, I have been following you on and off since your sketch up design. I am so happy for you and I must admit, a lot jealous. It is my dream to have a tiny house someday, I have had my styrofoam board model house done for a couple of years now. Somehow life just keeps getting in my way. I am so happy for you and love to see you enjoying the fruits of your labor finally. Take care and enjoy!!
My Lord u spent a TON Of money for ur setup...😲😳
this is just fucking stupid, Why not just get an RV or a Camper? Fucking hahahahahahaha
This floorplan is one of the best I've seen. One of the things I dislike about other tinys is the placement of the bathroom off the kitchen. You've placed it in a hallway which is just perfect. I love the dressing area too and full size W/D. Please please sell your plan! I'm buying!
🧡So Curious For An Update🧡
I love your tiny house. We need an update on how living in a tiny house is going after almost two years.
I have been researching tiny homes for at least 7 years, and by far, this is the most clever design I've seen, Erin. you have thought of EVERYTHING - storage storage storage which so many tiny homes lack. And the dressing room area! Huge closet with washer/dryer, nearby drawers AND Vanity. And such helpful advice about the air vent in the bathroom. You have absolutely thought of everything! Thank you so much for so graciously and enthusiastically sharing your home with all of us. I so appreciate your candor as well. Much happiness to you in your beautiful home!
Lovely tiny home xx
Such a beautiful house with a lovely owner.
Nice work! I respect the effort and time. Look forward to seeing what you learn while living in it. Oh ya, this is Jim :)
This is one of the most livable Tiny homes I have seen on UA-cam. You have covered all of the practical and functional living requirements in a most beautiful way. You and your builder deserve an award for design and function in the real world. Will you please give us an update on how your life has changed by living in your tiny as well as how you are doing during this pandemic. I hope you are well and your home has been a source of comfort for you during these trying times.
Your home is as lovely as you are. You have come up with some very creative solutions. It has been awhile since you have posted anything so I hope you are well and still enjoying your home. It is one of the best and I have looked at a lot.
You and Ricky designed the PERFECT tiny house💕😊
So beautiful! And thank you for all the detail about the utilities. That's really helpful.
I joined you today but why are you not making any videos, pl do make videos
I admire you, v clever idea of head space in bedroom 👌
Hey there absolutely brilliant design... how about an update???
Erin your house is so cool. Thanks for sharing!
Absolutely love what you've come up with for your tiny. The land it's on is perfect and my actual goal for my future tiny/property. I'd love to know more about the process you took in finding the land and getting the approval to park on it.
I like you mom for real
You have a beautiful home! You should be designing Tiny homes. You have thought through everything and made it work wonderfully for your life. Plus, I found myself enjoying just hearing you talk. I watch most Tiny homes/van/bus videos while doing something else, but you were so captivating that I was focused every minute. Enjoy your extraordinary home!
This is the Best American build i have been.. BEAUTIFUL HOME... Do you allow vanlifers. or other tiny home owners to park overnight for a fee on your land? or rent a spot on your land? if so how much for 5 nights?
It is my dream to purchase a piece of land the would allow for that PIE! Sadly, my land is only 1/4 of an acre, so I don't have the room to accommodate fellow tiny home dwellers.
Well u have a stunning Home... and if your. BUILDER is open to building for others please put his name and email.. thank u for sharing your home..
just a friendly tip; people could get a much better view of your home if the camera wasn't focused completely on you--might try panning around each area.
The most beautiful and thoughtfully designed tiny I’ve ever seen! Congratulations on following through with your dream! I’m sure you inspire many in your classroom!
It is fantabulous. Good Luck and many many many years of sweet memories
What brand of appliances did you go with? How are you liking them? Would you change anything about your set up? It looks perfectly laid out!
I have the Avanti 20" range, which I absolutely love and have found it to be perfect thus far! My refrigerator and stackable w/d are Whirlpool. I do wish that I would have installed my operable skylight in the reverse direction, so that I could more easily open it to access and clean the adjacent skylight. Live and learn!
Erin Adams: Living the Dream in a Tiny House! I’m thinking I do not want a skylight at all. I’d rather add more lighting in the loft if need be. I’m also thinking about a regular stackable W/D instead of front loading. I have that now and hate how much I have to disinfect around the doors. Thanks so much Erin. Again, beautiful layout and decor. Stay safe.
OMG! I love the layout of your house. Thank you for sharing!
Will you be doing a follow-up video regarding utility costs, etc?
So cool
This was an update. So i was excited to see more of what wasnt featured the first time. Didnt know there was a 2nd loft. Thats wasnt featured the first time. Storage in the bathroom, And its vents. The vanity storage and drawers built in the bed. Didnt see that either. So this was nice. I love this floor plan.
Amazing ! I love it to much !
ERIN, LOVED YOUR VIDEO TOUR OF YOUR TINY, WELL PLANNED HOME. I AM SO VERY PROUD FOR YOU. CAN YOU TELL ME, DO YOU HAVE TEXAS ROOTS ? I HEARD ALOT OF YALL'S IN THERE. I AM A TEXAS GIRL SO PICKED UP ON THAT IMMEDIATELY. BEST OF LUCK TO YOU !!
Thank you so much and you were close with your guess! I'm from south Louisiana, so only right next door!
Perfect design, you've made it so liveable!
Thank you for sharing. I love it! I want one
Hi Erin, Are there any other recommendations you can offer after living in your gorgeously designed and decorated TH? I absolutely LOVE everything about it, but is there anything you would have changed or added now that you've spent even more time in it? Maybe a 10' or 12' width? (as it appeared to primarily be a stationary TH.) Am I correct in assuming there are no storage tanks/solar as you're hooked up to utilities? Enjoy Christmas and I hope you have a Happy New Year!
Erin, I am interested in how you are acclimating. I am interested in your utility bills. I know that sounds personal maybe even rude. But, I am truly considering this BIG move into a Tiny home. I love your Tiny Home. I said that before. LOL Are you on FB?
Lisa, I don't think that's a rude question at all. I had so much trouble finding all of this information, as I was researching my design and layout. I do plan to make another video that discusses my utility bills in the future, but I was trying to wait for a full winter and a full summer in the home, so that I could better speak to the averages. My entire home is electric (range, hot water heater, W/D, mini-split, etc). During Aug & Sept, which is rather warm here (highs of 80's and 90's), my monthly power bill was between $28 and $33 and the AC ran pretty much the entire time at 68 degrees. In the coldest months (Jan/Feb with steady lows in the 20's & high teens), my largest bill was $46. I hope this helps!
@@erinadamslivingthedreamina3135 Thank you so much for replying to me. It sounds delightful. I look forward to the next video!
love the new hairdo!!!
Haha... thank you!!
Hi Erin, I loved your ideas!! When you can, I would like to see your home inside without cuts to see the it completely. Thank you so much!!
mighty fine
I am so happy to see that you finally made another video of your home. I love it! I want to build my own tiny home in the not too distant future. I agree with some of the other comments regarding your presentation. You did a beautiful job there, too. I think I would love to build a home just like yours.
I love it!!! ❤️🥰
