Vacuum pumps make more sap!!
I took a little road trip to the Becker vacuum pump plant in Ohio as we are now a dealer for them. We tore down two pump and also saw what they have for pump options for maple pumps. These things really suck!!

Well done review!
Would you happen to have the part number for the case drain t fitting.
I don't. Your local JD dealership "should" be able to print the schematics though
Thanks for taking us on your Rd. Trip. Good informative video Scott
They are good pumps with a reasonable priced
These are great pumps, we have lots of these in our print shop. I was approached by Mike at Becker about this class also and wasnt able to make it there. I just bought one a few weeks ago for my sugar bush. love all the videos you do, great stuff. Hope to see you in October.
I will be around in October

That's how you get them into it
It won’t be long those to hoodlums will be driving you around. 😂😂😂 It’s time to start getting new projects lined up for next year
How many cords of wood did it take to make that amount of syrup
I figure 4-5 a year
Hey, just wondering where you get your maple syrup jugs and glass from.
Plastic is bascoms and now I sell maine association jugs, glass is artisan printing in VT
Save your knee's and back!I use to put wood in the fire box as you do. One day this young buck stop over to help me. I told him keep a eye on the Evaporator i had go look at the Ro. About Ten minute later I came back, here he is setting in a Lawn chair putting wood in the fire box! Yes the Old dog learn a new trick that day!! No more down on the knee's and it has save the back to.
Unfortunately there isn't enough room for a chair. An old office chair that spins would be nice.
Do you think someone might steal your tank if you left it in the woods? Looks like a hassle dragging it out.
It's not that bad to move with the aluminum frame just awkward. Two of them are small enough and close enough to the road that I don't want to take a chance.
How many gallons did you end up with? We made 240 on about 600 taps. About .4 gal/tap. We have about 250 taps on the old huge trees which makes a hug difference in production with the higher sugar content. Glad you had a decent year.
306 which was down 100 from the season before
Yea idk why my back hurts either…😂
right... it's all work
100% understand the time to be done. While my season has a hard stop, no one wants a tree on the 26th, by that time I am pooched and ready for a break. We hustle for 8 to 12 weeks on these seasonal ag products, and then breathe for a day or two until it's time to go again. Keep up the good work.
there are two seasons when you make syrup. Maple season and getting ready for maple season.
Really good review! I just traded my 3E for a new 3R for pretty much exactly the same reasons. I gained around 500lbs lift with the loader plus over a foot higher. I went with the 3039R over the 3033R just because I use run a stump grinder and brush chipper a lot and the added PTO hp makes a huge difference. Cast iron rear end vs aluminum was a plus for me as well. Never had a problem with the axles on the E but it definitely gives me peace of mind. Love the mid-range feature, leave it there for 90% of my work. Switch to low if I'm using the loader, box blade whatever... then back to mid. Also use low for better control grinding stumps. Love the individual wheel braking to make tighter turns and like you said, the positions of the diff lock and 4x4 lever are much better. The E did everything I needed it to do, the new R just does it a lot better. With the added PTO hp, I grind the stumps in half the time and no more bogging down the chipper with big or hard wood. If I was just occasionally moving mulch or gravel and sometimes bush hogging 50-75 hrs/year I would stay with the 3E all day long. If you work the tractor hard moving heavy loads or whatever on a regular basis it won't take long to really appreciate all the added features of the 3R. Thanks for putting the video together!
At least I'm not the only one that thought the same thing. I should have looked at the 39 to see the difference on price. I only really notice the low HP with the snowblower with heavy wet snow.
I’m guessing he hit his goal Of 25 gallons 😂
Yeah he has done all right!!
"I burn free" - YES!
it's my favorite
You sure did get smashed up Scott, hopefully you made some headway the last month in a half. It’s never ending , to get that syrup in the jugs.
If it was easy everyone would do it!
I❤JD 😊
yep
Geez, I forgot about that storm already!
It sucked in every way
Very nice. You sure got hit by that storm. Us up north got barley any damage from it. Less wind. How much longer did you run sap for?
not long. I'm still not sure if it was worth the work. But it had to be done anyway for next year.
Wow what a mess. I would have probably called it a season. You are more dedicated than I. :)
It kind of fell into place that it all worked
Welcome back ol boy!
thanks
Scott Dunn. The man. The myth. The legend. Good stuff, dude!
No just a guy with a camera that doesn't mind work
I use a jiggler hose to do my gas and diesel. Look it up
They work it's just a crap design
How does the Mini MicroRO's performance specs hold up with colder sap? I currently use the CDL Nano and with 40 degree sap the performance is less than half of the published. (CDL told me their published specs were tested with 60 degree sap, really??) I am considering moving to the MiniMicro but I am concerned that I would see the same or similar reduction. Thanks!
So the way membranes are rated is with 50 deg water. With colder sap it will be lower. I don't have personal experience with a mini micro but the other ratings that H2O uses are pretty close to advertised. So actual real life numbers but as you go colder it will drop. Also they are rated at 2% sap. If you have lower raw sap % then it will not go as high but the GPH should be the same.
@@dunnfamilymaple7642 Thanks for the info! I trust your input.

Damn! I didn’t see this until now. I was there fri and Saturday. there’s always next year!

What size rig are you running? 2x6
Yes 2x6
Love the hustle, I don't know how you make it all happen... I've got a couple hundred taps right here on property and I still can barely keep up without getting divorced!
That’s why I waited to add the other couple hundred taps to my woods until after my divorce 😂
I need to find a way to add hours to the days and days to the weeks to keep up
Nothing worse than getting ready to filter and bottle and then you discover you've been passing DE through your press!

Enjoy your videos, what is a “bubbler”? Thank you from MN!
It is an air injection system that creates a boil before your boil thus increasing evaporation rate. It also keeps the particles and other solids suspended in solution keeping them moving so they do not deposit on the bottom of the pan. You make lighter syrup because of the bubbler and it is easier to clean mid season.
@@dunnfamilymaple7642 Thank you, appreciate you replying so promptly. Best of luck to you!
When your time is limited . Because we load it up with so many task , it goes to shit quick 😂😂 When you can recover quickly ,it’s just another day sugaring I can’t be leave how clean your flue pan is Your bubbler sure has paid off. We finished last Thursday the 11th. It just wouldn’t run, good year for us
The bubbler is one of my best purchases by far. Making better syrup with a cleaner rig now. I need to get a lift for the hood and I will be in business.
Did you ever do a video on the new RO? Looking for a RO this year, local dealer is h2O/Lapierre so most likely be between one of them.
I did one on the install. Never really much about it though. I think I'm going to do a season recap that will cover it a little bit more as to why I chose the one I did.
Glad to see it we are done here in Vermont!
We finished last week the videos are just behind
