    It would be better to have the carburetor the right way up so it matched the saw. You have it upside down so L and R are reversed. Typical Grandpa mistake! Of course, if you turn each to snug then back off the same amount it won't matter--until you try to tune the idle speed... And what's that other big slotted screw for?

    This 65 year old grandpa took your advise. I purchased the tool through your affiliate link. I grew up in a bucket truck. At 17 I was taking down Elm trees over mobile homes that died from the dutch elm disease. We used the old blue steel case Homelites. You could drop them from 50 feet and you may just bend a bar. I also walked in 2 feet of snow to the bus stop! lol.

    All I needed to know is to turn the screws all they way in and one and a quarter out. And that one is for low rpms and one is for high. The rest is not important and waste of time. This could've been 20s video. Still thanks a lot

    Don't listen to this BS. I got three kids they know everything trust me. It's simple the first thing you didn't do is replace the carburetor. The second is don't fuck with the adjustments . You get a cheap china carb which most likely you will because the oe one is expensive and forget it you'll have constant problems. Get a factory rebuild kit super easy and cheap rebuild the original and don't touch any adjustments. You do it correctly and it'll start and run like brand new

    The funny thing is Porter Cable and DeWalt are both owned by Black & Decker. I have been using Porter Cable for over 20 years, the 20v cordless tools are every bit as good as DeWalt. I will keep buying Porter Cable as long as they do not get cheap and cut corners in quality.

    Thanks for pointing out the carb adjustment tool and the too lean setting. I loaned out one of my saws and it got cooked after the person who borrowed it set it too lean. An expensive lesson for me. Keep up the good work.

    • @stoneyswolf
      @stoneyswolf 2 місяці тому

      I'll bet you the person that borrowed it didn't mess with the carburetor they probably were lazy and cheap so they straight gassed it because it didn't belong to them and they didn't give a shit.

    The video is good, but why would you say , there are alot of videos out there and most of them are filmed by Grandpa's.." I'm not a grandpa, but I find that extremely offensive, its a cheap shot that gains you nothing other than making you look like a insensitive bastard. I would fix it if I were you.

    Just so people know, and this is important, make sure your air filter is clean first. Now, after backing screws back out 1 and 1/4 turns, and getting machine to idle properly, let it warm up for a full 5 minutes before attempting to adjust the high speed jet. If it is new adjust the high speed with just a tad of 4 stroking occurring, until it has broken in properly.

  • @Pete4875
    @Pete4875 9 місяців тому

    It would seem that you completely ignored the larger screw on the top with the slot. That's the one I started turning and it really didn't lower my idle. Now I don't know how to set that screw could you elaborate.

      @tdri5270 Місяць тому

      I have the exact same question. Any procedure for how to set baseline on the LARGE idle screw? I assume you’d do this before adjusting the L and H screws? Seems that some saws have this adjustment and some don’t. Thanks!
