Sigiriya monolithic rock over 600 feet height sigiriya was built around century BC
according to the archaeologist they found clear evidence from the some of rock shelters and caves they were occupied by buddhist monk
SIGIRIYA considered as an engineering marvel because the fortress constructed with advance skill
Top of the sigiriya rock was the royal palace massive compound divided into terrace
water garden, terrace, bolder garden and functional hydraulic systems
actually sigiriya was royal palace for king kashyapa he was developed into a complex and palace during ( During 477- 495 CE)
According to the history king kashyapa murdered his father who was the king of Anuradapura kingdom
In( 495 CE) brother of kahyapa mane moggalana prepaid war then defeated king kashyapa and his army
There is other story and believes sigirya was built thousand of years ago by ancient GOD name king RAWANA according to believers KING RAWANA have come down from the sky then he build sigiriya as his kingdom
