I am looking for compact beginner everyday camera system to learn photography, develop a shooting habit, composition, playing around with manual settings etc. What are some good options? (optional: works well in low light, must: compact) I wanted to learn photography. So I got a used Sony A7s2. Then lens I got with it was damaged. I thought buying a zoom lens would help me practice diversely with different focal lengths. Bought the Tamron 24-70 f2.8. The thing is I don't keep my camera with me. I should have got a fixed focal length lens (which would have also been smaller) and a smaller camera so that I can keep this handy with me always. I need to practice more and more. The setup I have currently I just don't carry with me. I want to click pictures in low light during evening and night after office on weekdays. And on weekends any time.

This camera couple with Sony lenses works well especially any with a a picture ring. They are smaller lighter and the adapter is really small. The 50mm 1.4 works great. Less so for continuous video but phot is great. Just a thought if you have Sony glass already.😊

Why talk about the Z mount as an 'issue?" That was 6 years ago for heavens's sake!! And it had to be changed from F mount - too many restrictions for the latter.

I had two X100's (X100 and X100T). while it is a good camera, it is really overhyped. I moved on and got a Leica Q and it was the camera that the X100 couldn't be. Now the current X100 is overpriced, and the Leica Q can be found for the same or even lower price. The Sony has issues too such as battery life, and it is a Sony, meaning that it has complex menu structures and lots of buttons. lots of buttons get in the way.

I only shot with the Sony RX1, for one year - 'one camera, one lens'. As a dedicated Fuji user, I find there's no contest when you put this up against an X100 series camera... Using just the RX1 made me a better photographer.

Here doing a wedding and with two sony a9s in the bag with the 85f1.4 and 24f1.4 and the Fuji xt4 and the x100v out in the car but although I wouldn’t use the x100v on a high pace situation I reach for the xt4 over the Sony nearly all the time with the 18mm and 35mm. I just love the shooting experience and how it makes me slow down. Makes you no just shoot any image but makes you think about the light. The angles. The moment. You go from shooting loads to really thinking about when you press the shutter. No camera has given me this feel so yes. It’s not the best at everything but it improves you skills as a photographer by so much. I shot 80 weddings last year so take from that what you will but it’s a different feeling for taking images

That Sony is not 2k it is almost like 3k and that Fuji is a 1.5k camera, so not a fair comparison. The image in the Fuji while grainy has more character IMO. It looks more film like and less digital. Some people prefer that.

In regards to the meter: the camera is correct. You do not have enough light in the room for 100 ASA at 1/60th of a second, even wide open at f8, for the camera.

I've sent mine back to polaroid due to its unreliable exposure... it always over exposes, sometimes wildly overexposed even when set to -1 exposure compensation. I've compared it to older models and shot the same scenes, it over exposes even when claiming in the light meter that the exposure is correct. The cameras light meter is totally rubbish, the info it gives is meaningless. Hopefully the new firmware will fix issues

This lens on your Zf looks terribly awkward :D ZF is meaningless without lenses matching the aesthetics. Unfortunately, Nikon is not willing to make a motorized adapter for the brilliant AF-D lenses, shame on Nikon. Nikon forces you to buy new lenses. When I had the Df that was absolutely brilliant in this sense since it revitalized all AF-D lenses. Nikon made big mistakes with Df, and completely dropped the line, but it was excellent for stills photography.

I decided not to shoot instant film with Instax nor Polaroid cameras anymore. I have a RZ67 with a Zinstax back (it's a hacked instax square camera) and I love it! I prefer the Instax paper results. Polaroid is just too expensive and sometimes quite ugly.

I've used many, many different cameras since I started shooting in 1985. Along the way had m4/3, APS-C, full frame, and medium format. Best image quality is my Fujifilm GFX 50r medium format. The files are simply incredible. But, tied in first place is (well, was) my Sony RX1R. I've had several Fuji APS-C cameras: XT-1, X100S, X-Pro 2, and XT-3. In no way are the files from the Fuji cameras equal to the files of the Sony RX1R with that gorgeous Zeiss Sonnar T lens. The first time I uploaded images from the Sony RX1R to my computer, my jaw dropped on the floor. Just outstanding with tons of micro contrast and that 3-D pop. Those claiming that Fuji APS-C is just as good simply have not seen with their own eyes how an elite lens (Voigtlander/Leica/Zeiss) renders. There is no comparison. The sensor on a camera is important, but far more important is the lens you stick in front of it.. Give me a crap camera with a great lens any day over a great camera and a crap lens. BTW, The comparison shots were great-- also, I thought I recognized Rhett in your images-- I also subscribe to his channel :)

I didn't cross reference it until you showed pictures of him, It took a couple of seconds, and then! oh! OMG> I finally have the opportunity to see Tilly in front of the camera (I'm a Rhett Shull fan also). Excellent! Nikon Zf It's my dream next camera. I'm a Df enthusiast and for me is a no-discussion topic. These cameras are not only beautiful, they are those types of cameras that have Souls in them. The photos that come out of that Full Frame sensor are genuinely inspiring. Awesome! Thank you for your channel, and thank you for this good quality, balanced source of information. I'm a subscriber now! Thanks

The mount critique is not a worthwhile critique, because they had to change the mount because these are mirrorless cameras. The f mount lenses have to be so far from the sensor because they were designed to work on cameras with mirrors. So they can't just make it f mount and magically have the old lenses work without an adapter, unless people want a lot of empty space in their mirrorless camera.

I realised many years ago that the Fuji x100 series is amazing camera only when it's the only camera around. I had taken my new x100S to a wedding back in 2014 i think alongside my D600. The X100s images were just not on par. It's not that they weren't good.... but it just didn't look that great. It just didn't feel great in my hands. Just didn't feel like a proper camera...for holidays ...sure but not for paying jobs. I understand there are some pros who just work with X100 series cameras. I have no idea how they do it, but I am not that brave! I have shot film and digital since 1999 and have used all sorts of cameras but there is no way I would use one of these when customers are paying.

The 42mpix sensor of the Sony is one of the best sensors Sony ever produced. It's 1,5 stops cleaner as the newer 61mpix sensor and also cleaner as the 50mpix sensor in the A1. I have this sensor in my older A7RIII and I would never give up this camera, as long as Sony is not able to produce something cleaner with this amount of pixels.

i love my nishika; scenes with dynamic content, like sparklers, flowing water, or falling objects are some of my favorites to shoot with the n8000. never wasted the time putting batteries in it though. definitely wouldn't shoot anything slower than iso400 in it, unless i was heading out into the florida sun. if you change your blending mode to "difference", it'll make stacking the layers much more straightforward. regarding the pivot point, that's always going to be image dependent and is often a function of how far you, the subject, and the background are positioned relative to each other. wish i'd picked up a few of these when they were practically giving them away. 100% agree that it is worth it, even at the current crazy prices. one of the most fun cameras to bring to any sort of gathering, if you want to continue the fun camera exploration, i'd vote for picking up a swing lens camera like the horizon. tons of fun making panoramas and it is also interesting at gatherings.
