That is my first M43 camera. I imported from Japan the double zoom kit, since it was not available in US. I enjoyed using it, so much so that I sold my FF Sony7iii and all its heavy lenses. My initial intent was to buy an OM-5 and have weather sealing, eyeviewfinder, some extra feature and then sell E-P7. I did buy OM-5 and its kit lens, bought some prime but I could not let myself to sell E-P7. It is with me all the time. I recently added a 25mm manual lens to E-P7 with clicking aperture, what a joy!

I would never buy a plastic system camera, but that's me, I'm old school.

I have Lumix GF1 and GF2 , and I think they are better, except for the Oly's IBIS.

What lens do you like to use the most on these cameras? I ordered the E-P7 and I have the 20mm f1.4 which might be too heavy for the camera. Wondering if I should order 17 1.8/ 25 1.8 / 45 1.8? 14-42 EZ? Which lens do you find yourself using the most in day-to-day (family, walks, pet etc..)? Thanks for the great video!

I get it. I had one that came with a body and traded it for the 12-100. It's just more versatile The lens you have works well with extension tubes

I have both lenses. My wife uses the OM-1 with the 75--300. I will use the 100-400 with the 1x body as it's a better balance. Sometimes I will use the 1.4 TC with it from a tripod. That way I can keep the ISO down and the shutter speed longer. I expose to the highlights as I was told by one of the ambassadors that it works better for low light. Indeed it does. Both lenses can be sharp enough. Sure the 150-400 or the 300 f4 can be sharper but he cost a fortune and the 300 f4 does not get on with me well as I like to have the flexibility of a zoom.

Keeping them both is the best option. The 75300 and this one. When it comes to birding the longer zoom and teleconverter support are very helpful.

Extraordinary I made the same as you selling the 75-300 mm zuico buying these lens 100-400 with expectation and very poor quality image like watercolor rending but it was photography, I retourn the lens to sellor, he gives me a second new item but was the same problem I sell it and buy again the om system version of 75-300 much more useful, lighter cheaper but more quality photography What a waste of time and money !😢

not long gone over to Olympus, have aquired EM 1 mk2, EM3 m2 (IR converted) and EP5 which i am gathering a set of small lenses for. Must admit i find the small camera the most fun to use.

Screw the kit lenses, get you an adapter and adapt old German and Russian lenses to it.. it's THE BOMB!

They removed the EVF because it would make it an OM-D. They even removed the USB Port for external EVF because technically you would again come too close to an OM-D. If you get an ep7 with 20MP Sensor and can add a viewfinder to it, why would you buy the OMD for much higher Price? Many people would Save the Money is what Olympus thought. The light pen Series ups to EPL8 has the USB Port too. EPL 9 and 10? Never Seen that Option again. They never ever again let an EP or EPL getting too close to their OMD line up. They sold the external EVFs and realized OMG we are selling cheap PENs which our customers turn into OMDs

I was going to buy it but I already have the 70-300 which was a bargain and plenty fast enough during daytime.

I have a Panasonic 4/3 camera. A nearby camera dealer had several later model Olympus 4/3 bodies.

I just bought one off ebay for 100$ and it only has 400 shutter actuations.

I remember when WHITE body Olympus or Sony cameras seem to sell big in the Middle East and Japan. Not an American or Canadian color choice. The Pen F has the same electronic “guts” of an OM-D dslr camera which sold for about $300 less.

I spent 900€ for this and a Panasonic g9, best buy

I bought an Olympus E-p1 in 2011. I would not buy it again. I tried using it for weddings. It broke too often.

Ik heb een vraagje over de stabilisatie van de lens: is dit een toegevoegde waarde in vergelijking met de 75-300 en is het gesynchroniseerd met de IBIS in de OMD M1 ii? Ik overweeg nl. de aanschaf van de 100-400, maar ik heb wel moeite met het extra gewicht. Hoor graag jouw mening.

The lens cap on my 12-40mm self destructed a few weeks after I got it. I threw the pieces in the trash just today. Great review of the 25mm f/1.2.

I'm sorry for necro-ing your comment section. My forst m43 camera was the E-PL3. I liked it a lot and it pushed me into micro four thirds as a whole. I came across this video as I have bought an E-PL7 to act as a companion camera for my E-M1 bodies (compact lens in a side pouch for times when I have the large telephoto on the E-M1 and want to snap something quickly). I thought that I would really want a Pen-F due to the built in viewfinder. I love the looks and I prefer a VF to a screen. However, watching this, I feel that the E-P5 would in fact be a better choice. It has also caused me to appreciate my Lumix GX-7 which I feel acts as an interesting alternative to the E-P5 - although the viewfinder can sometimes stick out a little too much when stored away, it's a lovely camera to use snd seems to be an interesting compromise between the E-P5 and the F.

I enjoyed your opinion on the P7. I feel the E-P5 is the best option for me. The price for a second hand P5 is a much better option for me. Thanks

Why not print bigger? I get nice A4 print to edge results from a Canon powershot A70 with a 3.2 megapixel sensor. I also have the E-300 and will try printing much larger.

I own a Nikon Z7, EM1 II and EM1 III and guess which camera I normally take onto a hike or a weekend trip? My EM5 III as It is "good" enough" and is so light! Even with 12-45 F4 Pro I do not feel it hanging on my shoulder.

Thank you for the very useful review based on personal experience. Re your concern about the shutter speed, did you consider or evaluate the electronic shutter? I believe it allows speeds up to 1/16000 sec.

I also did a short video about the e300 in 2024. I think it's still worth buying today but the price is going up slowly I think. I bought the 35mm 3.5 macro for it and I love it.
