Moved to NY at age 10, I’m now 64, and now moved back home to DR. We are very happy, we feel safe, and are amazed by the progress over the years! I give a lot of credit, at least most, to God’s place in our Dominican society and as long as we stay true to God we will continue to prosper. 👊💪🙏🇩🇴

@jgivesback I'm half dominican. I got my 2nd citizenship through ancestry last year. I'm really bullish on the future of DR. First comment was a half joke for some humor. I thought i made it obvious, but perhaps not. My brother and i have been to multiple weddings in the DR and most of the time someone showed up cowboy style with a side piece. Pretty amusing to see. Is what it is, not really a big deal. I guess i shouldnt say gun laws are lax but its a straight forward process in getting one. I dig your channel but like your click bait -style title implies....there are dangerous areas in DR. Just like in all major cities in the US and through the carribean.

Every country has the right to deport those who come irregularly. So, Latin America should do the same; this way it will send a message to other countries like USA Canada Europe who’s people visit and then want to take over. Some are good people who are trying to learn the language and culture and be part of it, but then you have many with a conquistador complex as we are inferior. In both situations there should be more regulations in place.

I cant speak for other countries, but for D.R. I will never be thankful of people breaking the law and staying in my country illegally. For people in the comment section without a clue: Tourism is one of the mainstream of income in D.R. but it doesn't keep our country "afloat." 3 years of a covid pandemic was proof that Dominicans can sustain themselves without tourists. We had too much milk and potatoes and they were going bad. People come here because our country and our culture are beautiful and we have a lot to offer. They aren't doing us any favors. Dominicans only important about 20 percent of what we consume: That's the main reason why life is affordable in D.R. We love and have our own products and services, and we don't rely on imports. The GDP per capita was 10,716.01 USD 2023 and continues to grow. You can't compare it to the U.S.. 80 percent of what Dominicans eat comes from inside our country. We love our local products. I used to pay $156 a month rent for a studio apartment three years ago. my $350 a month job was good enough for me to maintain the same standard of living, I had in Canada. I would argue that I actually lived better in D.R. because of the food, the weather, the people and the culture. I used to drink one or two Presidentes almost daily. after 2 years of living in Villa Mella, I had over 10 friends from the neighbourhood.
