4:40 were you talking about the mk7 ST having a wet belt or the mk7 st-line? The 1.6 ecoboost wasn’t a wet belt, the 1.0 st-line was the problematic belt in oil
You are right and to be honest watching it back it does sound like I’ve referenced the mk7 ST having a wet belt which it does not. 100% ST MK7 is a dry belt and 1.0 is a wet. Thanks for highlighting that pal 👍
I guess the time will come, hopefuly sooner than later, when people stop posting videos about E46 M3's
Not on this channel my man! Thanks for watching though 😎
Thanks Bernie for your kind words. I guess the time will come, hopefully sooner than later, when you feel the need to not post things like this ❤
I drive a 320 as my every day now. I love it. Been been very reliable so far. I've had two brand new cars that were troublesome but I only paid £2700 a couple of years ago and think I've got a bargain.
I bought my 2015 sdv6 in may for 15k and I love it not let me down (yet) px it for my 2010 l320 and I absolutely love it i know it's a gamble but one so far I'm winning 🎉😊😊
"I absolutely stacked mine through a field". Exactly what you want to hear from the interviewer whilst he test drives your pride and joy!
Haha, yeh, but he knows I’ve changed! 🤔
My daughter has just bought a 17 plate autobiography and I want one so bad but I'm nervous to go and buy
Great review mate, ive got one very similar to this had it for a few months now and its fantastic. I agree with most of the things you said but I do think your a bit harsh on the looks 😂😂. I like the slightly understated look, somthing like the i20N tries far too hard imo. And yes the build quality is a bit shabby in places, mine has some minor rattles and occasionally the passenger door handles sticks, but thats why its a cheaper alternative to something like the polo GTI i guess. Glad you enjoyed your experience with it! :)
Thanks for the feedback pal! Absolutely love we can disagree respectfully and I completely appreciate your opinion! I would rather have the Fiesta than the VAG equivalents and I genuinely loved driving the car! Stay well brother
You say to get a bloody good warranty, and that you have one. Can you recommend one?
I always tread carefully here as some of the performance with warranties can be down to the communication regarding the fault and the relationship between the parties involved, there are some good ones out there and I would suggest doing some solid research and teaming that with what you think works for you based on what the cover and providers offer. All I can say is I use Autogaurd warranties for myself and it works for me.
@@GregandCraigsGaragethanks, appreciate the answer
I have had similar experiences, and I definitely agree.
Thanks for that pal, appreciate the feedback!
Power fold mirrors who needs them either
On a "hot hatch", im with you!
All of this because Europe with its stupid mindset, thinks it will save the world with elephant electric car. I own a Ford Fiesta ST mk8 and it's absolutely great for every day ! Fun, fast, light and yes with most of all the options that people are looking for. I do understand it's not for everyone because it can be small for some families, but I don't think we have to do like Americans do with HUGE cars that have no sense and not at all suited to our roads, which are so slippery due to their weight
Yet the fiesta isn't a small car in width , they have become very wide . The reason i bought a fiesta (8.5) was because i could just get it into my garage and it is tight . Most other cars i considered were even wider so were a non starter .
I’d love one of these to tow my daughters horse box I’m just not brave enough
Mines a 03 supercharged
Love that color first I am seeing one
Silverstone - 50 in this colour
Bought my 2021 mk8 Performance Pack ST last year for £15.5k and it’s been an absolute blast. Probably the last really great normal peoples car Ford will ever make and that makes me very sad. Europe isn’t made for these 2.5 ton tanks rolling around but Ford drops an absolutely perfect platform for this continent. I wish I had the money and space to buy up a few to store away for 15+ years because these will rocket to the moon in value once you can’t buy anything like it anymore.
I know, it’s such a shame! Awesome little car! Really did rate it! Thanks for the view and the comment my man! 👍
Thanks, I got as far as the door locks and you put me right off ever buying one! I'll probably stick with Toyotas.
Ah you missed all the good bits!
Nice review but I don’t agree about the engine part. 3 cylinder is miles ahead of the last gen 4 cylinder one sound and performance wise. You get much more linear power output and not a sudden pull like the previous gen which for a daily fwd car is much much better and you certainly can’t tell it’s a 3 cylinder. Also 3 cylinder sounds so much better than the boring 4 cylinder. But ok that’s something that’s depended on personal preference. Aside from that again 3 cylinder is miles ahead of the 4 cylinder in so many ways.
Appreciate the watch and the feedback pal, certainly the 3cyl is better than the 4cyl on performance and behaviour, but I would stand by what I said regarding the noise, its not that it sounds worse than the 4cyl, but I can tell its a 3 is all, as you say, its all about personal preference, it certainly wouldn't stop me buying one!
@ I see what you mean and I respect your opinion. Keep up the good work 🙏🏻
@@TheoST8 Much appreciated brother. Stay well 👊
Models from 2005 and 2006 had the CSL manifold as standard so sounded more like a CSL when the Eventuri was installed whereas pre-2005 cars did not due to the thicker manifold absorbing the sound more. You can hear the 2005 sound in my latest M3 review video for comparison as the one here sounds a lot quieter than mine, my exhaust system is also fully stock. Maybe because it was a press car it didn't get the same CSL manifold and bits as the dealer sold cars?
Ah thats interesting! I didn't know that to be honest. Appreciate you watching and commenting pal!
do you mean the trumpets inside the manifold? I had a 2004 which had yellowish trumpets and now 2006 with black/carbon? trumpets
Are you g4y with ur ears? This engine sounds wonderfull
Great Video - brilliant balance,. Thank you,.
Thank you 👍
Don’t tell everyone or they’ll all want one and the prices will go up. I’m currently on the lookout for a fiesta ST3 7.5.With a £10,000 budget through the years I’ve owned loads of Fords some of them have been hot hatches. It truly saddened me when I heard they were stopping the production of all their hot hatches. What’s wrong with them?😢 I think it’s madness
Haha! Sorry man couldnt help it! I think its a crying shame and a genuine flop on Ford's behlaf for the motoring community!
Very nice video! I also have a Silverstone Metallic E46 M3 in North America! 1/3 factory manual on Napa black interior
Thanks pal! Very nice 👌
Hello, I am a 22 year old and I love these cars I have a 2008 L320 4.4 and love it but I really want a L494 V8SC they are cheaper now where I live around 16,000 USD for 100k miles with good service history. I am not the richest fellow but I do a lot of work myself and am prepared to do work myself no matter how grueling as I absolutely love this generation of sport and have wanted one for years now if I changed the oil regularly about every 3k miles with high quality oil, delete air suspension and replaced it with traditional suspension I'd have pretty good chance at a fair amount of reliability? I don't wanna send myself into financial death of course I also have a computer that can read and diagnose Land Rover's of various generations including the 2015 RRS V8SC. I've been toying with the thought of purchasing one outright no finance for years and maintaining it myself please let me know if your best advice i am just nervous of it snapping a timing chain.. or breaking down entirely, anyways thank you for the great content keep up the good work.
Thanks for watching pal! Good move changing the suspension, thats a common weakness on that model, the main problem with that series of Range Rover is some of the issues require the body to be removed for sometimes a fairly simple issue which the 494 doesn't require. If you've watched my videos you have a fair idea of what owning a 494 is about so if its for you, then go for it. I would always recommend a warranty to help cover costs and good maintenance is a must, even if you can work on the car yourself, if something heavy went, then parts alone are going to be expensive. I hope that helps pal.
@ Thank you! Been a big help Ive been researching parts and they don’t scare me too much but i will definitely look into some extended warranties.
Your music sucks
Thank you for this. Currently driving a 7.5 GTi, and was thinking about a M140i xDrive or an S3 8Y. Both cars are about the same price here in Sweden.
Much appreciated pal! I know what id pick but its all on you my man!
Thanks , i do like your appraisal of a 25 year old car, luxury car that is standard and it gives a very good account of what this car is , driving by the [seat of your pants ] was never going to be there
whats your opinion on m43 4cyl e46's
They're fine for what they are, just performance and drive is considerably nicer from the 6 cyl and well worth the little extra. Hope that helps
The amount of xr2 & xr3i i bought for under £500 in the 90’s . Some were £50 !
I know! If only we knew!
fucking love this video... you said perfectly what the hot hatch was supposed to be... and ford near to realise their cars were popular because of the simplicity, not because of whats in the market.
Thanks man, appreciate it!
Plus throttle body, inlet manifold changed under Range Rover warranty free of charge. But two front tyres cost £650. RR warranty £1600 per year
If you buy from Land Rover and get there full warranty, they are probably the best they come out in less than hour, one time I couldn’t be bothered changing my flat tyre and I just got them to do it. If you buy a Range Rover get the Range Rover warranty 👍
You have made so much sense basic fun is all wee need
Thanks pal!
I love Range Rover I’ve always wanted one 😊
How tall are you mate 6 foot 3 inches… wondering cause I'm tall and wonder if there's enough leg room for me
I’m 6ft on the dot mate, I reckon you might be ok, body proportion will probably dictate if your comfy, I’d say have a sit in one and see how it feels
My brand new 1983 xr2 in strato silver with optional extras of sunroof and head rests 😅 cost me £4300 miss it so much....
Wow, what a lovely car you had the chance to own there pal! 😎👌
Silver was the rarest colour
@GregandCraigsGarage it was in the showroom. I initially went in for an xr3 but walked out feeling more than happy...
Hasn't the td6 got a well-known problem with the crank shaft snapping 😢
it does happen to some of them for sure, usually oil starvation causes it
How much road tax
I think it’s £385 mate
I agree about checking the dealer to use. I have used the same dealer for my cars over a space of 30 years. They train and retain staff, I see the same names on the paperwork, MOT etc. for decades. They give me the heads up when things are going to need attention and aren't imminent. The rates are much lower than you mentioned. For some labour intensive items I use a specialist, they can spend a little more time investigating and fixing niggles too. Sometimes the dealer is booked out and can't look at something for days.
What a great review first time watching your channel. Really informative and knowledgeable keep up the reviews of normal cars people can afford 👌
Much appreciated thank you!🙏 I’ll do my best! 👍
I picked up one last week for 10k GBP (equivalent) with 40,000 miles and it has a tune, a catback and is the local market equivalent of the ST-3 with performance pack. I could not find anything anything anything even near, for the same money!
Congrats mate! Great little car! This one is due some bits soon so will post more shortly! Thanks for watching and commenting!
They are nice cars but the sport should have had a longer boot. Even without an extra row of seats, it would make it that bit more flexible, more comparable to the Volvo XC90.
I couldn’t concur more ….bought my first one (16 plate 85k miles) 18 months ago , cost me a fortune …into my second one (facelift model) 38k miles …..I had to fix the diesel exhaust filter., the rear electronic brakes callipers, a leak on he compressor when you put your foot down on the accelerator, …….expensive 12 months as you say , ……I found it was al out research research reasearch and get the lowest mileage version you can afford and definitely the face money ….👍
Thanks for the feedback pal! It’s one of those isn’t it, sometimes you get unlucky and they just cost a lot of that’s the case. 👍
Hi i have watched your videos and find them very helpful. But here’s my question for you. I have £20 budget ( not finance) to spend on a Range Rover sport. What would be your best advice??? Buy the newest model possible with a good warranty? But this would leave me no spare money for and repairs/ maintenance!! Or spend £16 / £17k and keep the rest for a rainy day??? Would like to hear your thoughts/ suggestions many thanks
Thank you mate, much appreciated! In my opinion to be fair, if you have £20k and thats all you have, thats not what to spend on the car, you need to set aaside some money for maintenance and wear and tear, 10-20% is a safe bet, buy the best one you can find, but take your time. Get a good warranty and buy from a reputable place. Hope tat helps
Ah, my MK7 would have this one! 💪🤓 Ford still messed up with the timing chain replacing the awful wet belts, as the oil pump is driven off an internal rubber belt, so instead of instant catastrophic failure, you'll first lose your oil pressure, then get catastrophic failure.. I've heard some of the 3-cyl ecobooms had a gear-driven oil pump when they first switched to chain-driven camshafts, but they went back to a belt just for the oil pump-which doesn’t make any sense at all.
Ah, would love to pitch them against eachother! I didnt know that, I guess a step in the right direction at least, you might see it coming! Thanks for watching pal!
There is nothing wrong with the 1.5 engine the 1.6 ecoboost has overheating problems, so it is far from bulletproof. You can get 300 hp no problem out of 1.5 and it still will be reliable, Laird Performance have proven that👌😎
Could you do an Hyundai i20n review in the near future?
@@ljp1942 I would love to if someone would lend me one for a day!
Well considering there were loads of issues with the gear driven unit I have yet to see the oil belt have any issues. And in any case these seem to get tuned much better up to stage 3 and they seem to Be quicker stock for stick although same bhp and I own a mk7 st and I think The mk8 would Be quicker stock for stock and even a tune
Buy a Freelander 2 with a complete service history for trouble free motoring.
Learnt my lesson along time ago , Lexus is the only used car to buy 👍🏻
How does your credit score affect?
I have owned a cayenne 3.0 diesel auto for ove a yr came from RR sport and FFRR….never had a big issue with the RR ‘s and although not as well made as the Porsche the ride comfort is missing for me so i will defo be going back to the RR as soon as i can thought the RRFF was the best bet had a v8 diesel…only sold it due to mental insurance costs..hope it helps
Nice one, no point in sugar-coating reality it will save a lot of tears later, and that is why although I would love to own a Range Rover Sport I drive a Ford
My advice: - Pay £12k off your mortgage (assuming you have one). - Get a BMW 525i Touring for £8k
