Bouncing LOWRIDER STOLE THE SHOW @ SWA Cars and Coffee, The Trough Yeovil, June 2022
Here's a little collection of my favourite cars from the SWA Cars & Coffee meet at the Trough Farmshop in Yeovil, Somerset. From Japanese classics to modern supercars, with the odd bit of quirky rarity thrown in for good measure, there was something for everyone! Of course, I turned up in my 1999 Honda S2000. My partner Claire's mum and dad brought their MG TF Limited Edition and Triumph Spitfire MkIV, and a great morning was had by all!

Spun bearing in my Honda S2000 F20C engine - time for a rebuild!

Oh no, it was worse than I thought! My mechanic confirmed that one of the main bearings had spun, causing damage to my S2000's engine crankshaft. It looks as though this has happened before, as there is evidence of the crankshaft having been machined down a number of times. So it's time for a new crankshaft, strip down to see what else has been damaged, and engine rebuilt. The car is now booked...

    You didn’t strip away the sound proofing or whatever the padding/covering is around the boot pan, to see if the rust spread under those. Was this intentional? I ask as mine has only pieces of that stuff on the left and right, and two parts of the pan are rusty - where yours was, and, the area a couple of inches towards the back of the car . The latter is the worst. I can poke through it …

    Had a MK IV, also 1972 but in BRG. Bought in 1978, they were also cheap to buy then. On a fast motorway run, it's ignition timing moved whilst at a petrol station. Later, another run at long high speed (for then any) and the engine went BANG !! I was an ignorant 18 year old, my brother in law (a Hotel manager}, together zero mechanical know how. Took the top end off, found a split piston with no scoring. 2nd. hand piston and new rings and started immediately. We were both gobsmacked, good for many more miles. Fond memories and taught me to take a rubber hammer to encourage the starter motor.

    Very enjoyable video. Ironically, my very first car was a 1972 Spitfire MKIV and these days I own a Honda S2000. I bought my Spitfire back in 1978. Mine was dark brown with a tan interior (not the sportiest of color combos, but to my eyes it was gorgeous). I also happen to feel that the MKIV design is the most attractive all the Spitfire variations. Sadly I only owned mine for a few short years before it was totaled by my brother. While it wasn't the most reliable of cars, I loved it and that experience made a lasting impression on me. Nothing else compares with top down motoring - this played a large role in the decision to purchase a S2000 many years later.

      Quest thank you 🙏 The bit at the end was rushed out because I wanted to get the video finished (it’s been sitting around for over a month because of other work commitments). • @dorsetscousersgarage9913
      @dorsetscousersgarage9913 4 роки тому

      Thank you very much. I love the bonnet and have kept it on throughout winter, although the car is sitting at the moment having an engine rebuild. I do have rain guards which channel the water away to the front of the car, away from the engine, so it's useable all year round. They're super simple to swap over, although I purchased a new set of uprated washer jets as a genuine Honda part for £40 - a bit pricey but worth it! The hose needs a bit of careful feeding through the bonnet, as it doesn't have clips like the OEM one did.
