Приєднався 28 гру 2019
A change in lifestyle and finances forced us to make drastic changes so join us as we embark on our micro camper journey. Its all about micro/car camping on small budget with down to earth and honest thoughts and opinions on the world of car camping and car camping equipment.
The Skoda Roomster, a micro Camper tardis!
Allow us to take you through our budget micro camper build. I'll share how we've built the folding bed system, some storage and the ECOFLOW River 2 Max Solar generator, the Alpicool C12 fridge and the new SQ pan (excellent for any budding international pan fighters)

Can you really camp out in a Skoda Roomster?

Introductions and our plans as we embark on our journey into micro camping. Why, how and what we're planning in our Skoda Roomster!
How much did you raise the floor, I mean for example the height of the supports st the rear boot end.
Thank you for the video - I have subscribed. I've recently bought a 2015 Skoda Yeti and considering converting it for the odd weekend tour around the west coast of Scotland, just myself & my dog. I've not done car camping before, so a few questions if that's ok? 1. The rear seat removals, do you find this a hassle, in the sense that you will need to store them somewhere dry, and it means you may need to resign yourself to not being able to offer others a lift unless it is a single passenger? I am thinking about how much of a deal it is to replace rear seats, is it a lot of work? 2. I am thinking about wind deflectors, where did you find the best place to buy them? 3. When you head on out car camping, do you tend to go somewhere near a town/village so you may have access to public toilet, or do you resign yourself to going to the toilet in the wild?
Hello and thank you for sharing your creative roomster camper, I like the simplicity of your design. I am no master carpenter but I can see how I can now build a very similar practical camper. I like that you do not have any fancy hinges. I'm going to buy some plywood and basic timber lengths tomorrow. I plan to leave my roomster back seats in place. I have a basic sofa bed in my home I plan on using the foam from those. Great help, Thank you buddy
Thanks for your comments and glad you like the set up and simplicity. This was all about creating something using what i had and on the smallest budget. Good luck with your build!
I can't get mine back in the bag !!!
Yes, it can be tricky but the easiest way ive found is as follows. Whilst its all laid flat, pull out each corner using the four pins corner pins and then fold in half and then and half again. Then lay the poles (inside the pole bag) across the folded awning and use this as ruler to judge the width as this will fit inside the bag. Roll the awning with the poles inside and as you go and just keep tucking any bits in so that its just the width of the poles. Keep scrunching it down as you role it and use the ties that it came with it to tie it before putting it back in the bag. That way it should go back in :)
I found some info here. www.google.com/search?q=Kampa+Tailgater&rlz=1C1GCEA_enIS968IS968&oq=Kampa+Tailgater&gs_lcrp=EgZjaHJvbWUyCQgAEEUYORiABDIHCAEQABiABDIHCAIQABiABDIHCAMQABiABDIHCAQQABiABDIHCAUQABiABDIHCAYQABiABDIGCAcQRRg90gEIMjI2MmowajGoAgiwAgE&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8

thanks for sharing 👏 not sure if you mentioned it, but how big is the mattress?
I'll have a measure an get back to you :)
Love that you've created this channel! I have a Skoda Yeti and like many Yeti owners I'm a bit obsessed with it. Even more so since managing to walk away from a horrible car crash recently (in my opinion in no small part because the Yeti is such a safe car with multiple airbags - all of which deployed). And no sadly I don't have that Yeti anymore as it was written off...but I managed to get another within about 3 weeks ....anywho...back to you and the channel ! Please do keep going! I've recently got hold of a Kampa tailgater and started a very basic car camper conversion. As the Roomster and Yeti are so similar I've already picked up some good ideas from you so many many thanks! I used the tailgate tent on the Yeti at a recent festival in Wales and slept in the car as you and your wife do on a very basic bed (camping pads so far) and it was excellent 👌🏻 Hope to do a basic build out soon however and will copy your design as it's fabulous! Where did you get your foam from? All best wishes to you and your wife and happy camping 🏕️🥾🎉
Thanks Sarah! Really appreciate your comment and hope you're on the mend? Keep me posted on the new vehicle and the fit out. The Yeti is a great car and if we would have had the budget its the one we would have gone for. Thanks again and our best wishes x
Good luck with the channel Andy. Your video came up on my page, as i'm interested in car/van camping. Just gotta get the time to do it. Ps: I drive a skoda rapid as a taxi, Well serviced, currently over 200k miles. Previous Skoda octavia was 330k. These are bulletproof if serviced regular. (both diesels)
Thanks Kevza . . . hopefully your car camping adventures will start soon. Ive owned the Skoda Octavia estate too and theyre great cars.
Can you provide a link where you bought this tent? Greetings from Poland
