I didn't think the story was too muddled. I thought the messages were clear. But we are talking about two main journeys that took two different paths for Ken and Barbie, but they both landed on the same spot of self-discovery. I think the other stories of Gloria and her daughter and Mattel to a much lesser degree supported the journeys twist and turns. The "feminism isn't really feminism as much as it is about being a women and a man.

Some good comments on the film emerge in this conversation, though I think you'd benefit from having visuals to keep viewers listening. I'm glad I kept going, though personally the negative initial tone and lack of visuals nearly got me clicking off (sorry guys to be blunt, but it looks like I'm a rare visitor unfortunately). I found the greatest interest in the GHD comparisons, particularly the one about a new generation appreciating this film more. I'm from the old generation, but I still get what's engaging about this new take. As one of you astutely mentions, its the idea that one participant is stuck in the loop, accepting it, and the other wants to move on. If that doesn't call out to our current dilemma with Covid, I don't know what does. The younger generation are gonna appreciate the idea we need to escape the loop a hell of a lot more. We can pretty much all agree that the two participants have great chemistry, and there's a lot of fun to be had, but that's common to many reviews. Your conversation really brings out why this film succeeds, despite the GHD parallels. It starts from GHD ... and then moves on.
